Abstract

The need for camouflage technology in the military is becoming increasingly urgent due to advancements in technology. Particularly in disguise operations, more sophisticated efforts are required to assist military personnel. Replacing facial camouflage gel with cloaks is considered more efficient as it can cover larger portions of soldiers' bodies. Therefore, an invisible cloak is developed utilizing anisotropic crystal materials, specifically calcite crystals (CaCO3), which work through light reflection to make the cloak's wearer appear invisible when light reflects off the cloak. With the help of transformational optics, this invisible cloak operates by bending the light wave paths around the object to be concealed.

Abstract

In this increasingly modern era, innovation in the main tool of the defense system (defense equipment) is the main support in the process of maintaining the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). One of them is the innovation applied to TNI uniforms using electrochromic-based materials, namely PEDOT: PSS. PEDOT:PSS is known to be included in the classification of conductive polymers which have relatively good compatibility in terms of physical and chemical. The application of PEDOT:PSS as smart military textiles is carried out through a three-dimensional (3D) fabrication method, namely die-coating and ink-jet printing with a fabrication process speed of 20 meters per minute. Both of these methods are capable of producing high quality products, easy to design, and able to control the thickness of the substrate in the range of 80 to 750 nm

Abstract

This study aimed to develop biodegradable Mg-6Zn hydroxyapatite (Mg-6Zn HAp) biocomposites for potential use in bone replacement applications. The hydroxyapatite (HAp) powders, sourced from cow bone, were synthesized through an eco-friendly and cost-effective process, leveraging bioresources for material sustainability. The Mg-6Zn and HAp powders were mechanically mixed through ball milling for six hours to ensure homogeneity. The resultant powder mixture was then subjected to isostatic pressing at a high pressure of 570 MPa, forming a dense coin-shaped composite with a 1.5 cm diameter. This coin was consolidated in a capsule furnace at elevated temperatures for one hour to enhance material integrity. The Mg-6Zn HAp alloy was thoroughly characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) to assess phase formation and crystallographic structure, and Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) to examine microstructural features and elemental composition. For composite preparation, varying amounts of HAp (5%, 8%, and 12%) were incorporated into the Mg-6Zn matrix. SEM analyses revealed a uniform distribution of HAp particles along the boundaries of matrix particles, enhancing composite structure and stability. Results demonstrated that with an increase in HAp content, there was a corresponding improvement in the relative density and hardness of the composites. The corrosion rate decreased with higher HAp content, indicating improved biocompatibility and stability in physiological environments. This suggests that the Mg-6Zn HAp biocomposites, with their tailored microstructure and enhanced mechanical properties, hold promise for use in biodegradable bone replacement applications.

Abstract

Determining the optimal crystal structure is essential in the development of defense materials, as its crystal structure influences the physical and mechanical properties of a material. This study employs a mathematical approach to analyze crystal structures through three primary methods: Fourier Transformation, Direct Methods, and the Rietveld method. Fourier Transformation enables the analysis of diffraction data generated by the interaction of X-rays with atoms in a crystal, converting it into electron distribution to identify atomic positions. The Direct Method utilizes probabilistic phase relationships to accurately estimate atomic positions, even when diffraction data is incomplete. The Rietveld method, based on optimization, refines the crystal structure model by comparing experimental diffraction data with simulated results, minimizing differences between them. The analysis results show that the combination of these three methods effectively determines the optimal crystal structure. The implementation of these techniques is expected to support the selection of superior materials for defense applications

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the revision of Law Number 34 of 2004 and the issue of the return of ABRI's dual function and civil supremacy in the context of Indonesian democracy and reform. The mixed methods approach with SEM PLS-4 and NVivo 12 analysis is used to achieve that goal. The results of the analysis using NVivo 12 showed that ABRI's dwifunction would not return and civil supremacy was maintained because, legally, the TNI remained focused on its role as a tool of national defense. The civil government, through the Parliament and public supervision, has full authority to oversee the TNI so that the TNI still maintains its tested neutrality. The results of the SEM PLS-4 analysis show that the TNI Law's political variable on the issue of ABRI's dual function and civilian supremacy has a statistically significant effect, with a T-statistic value of 5.073 and P-value of 0.000 and a large effect on the model (F-square 0.489). The contribution of this research is to provide an understanding of the importance of a balance between freedom of opinion, politics, and the interests of national defense as a system that supports each other in the post-reform era, as well as in facing the challenges of reform and hybrid warfare towards Indonesia Gold Indonesia 2045. The limitations of this study lie in a limited time, which affects the depth of analysis and data scope so as to limit the perfection of the results of the research as a whole.
