Abstract

This research aims to find semiotic elements contained in the play Bulan Bujur Sangkar by Iwan Simatupang. The data obtained comes from conversations and actions performed by the actors in the play. The whole semiotic element is the fact that language is not only oral but can be created with signifiers and signs. By utilizing Peirce's theory that describes icons, indices, and symbols, it is easier for readers to understand the meaning in the play. Iwan Simatupang's Bulan Bujur sangkar drama script has a hidden message that being someone who is able to fortify yourself so as not to fall into wrongdoing. The data generated in the form of quotations in the form of words or behavior that contain semiotics in communication. Qualitative research with descriptive method is the way used in analyzing this research. The results of the drama analysis contain semiotic elements used in conveying a certain intention by the actors of the drama.

Abstract

This research was conducted to explore the psychology of the characters in the manuscript Malam Jahanam by Motinggo Boesje by studying through a literary psychology approach. This research explores two discussions, namely the character’s personality structure and the character’s conflict defense mechanism. These two studies are used to explore the psychology of the characters as a whole. This research uses a qualitative approach and qualitative descriptive method. The subject of this research is the play Malam Jahanam by Motinggo Boesje. The data collection technique used is the read-note technique. The results of this research discussion are two, namely A) The character’s personality structure is divided into three structures, namely Id, Ego, and Superego. B) The character’s conflict defense mechanism is divided into five, namely repression, sublimation, rationalization, formation reaction and aggression and apathy.

Abstract

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a library study model. The data collection technique used in this research is based on data analysis in the Ben Go Tun drama script. This research was carried out by directly examining the Ben Go Tun drama script by taking primary and secondary data. From the research results, there are three main discussions, namely conflict, criticism and moral messages. Of these three discussions, one of them is conflict. Several conflicts told in the Ben Go Tun drama script are analyzed in dialogue and juxtaposed with the realities of life. Then there is social criticism which is analyzed as an outline of the background of the drama script Ben Go Tun. And finally there is a moral message, the author analyzes every criticism and conflict to retrieve data related to the resulting moral message. This research draws from several appropriate theories and is linked to the drama script Ben Go Tun which has been analyzed using a sociological approach.

Abstract

The literary work of the drama script "Senja dengan Dua Kelelawar" by Kirdjomulyo has urgency in terms of human values, social reality, richness of literary culture, development of science, cultural and social discourse. The aim of this research is to describe the structural elements in the drama script "Senja dengan Dua Kelelawar". Structural analysis is an approach to studying literature from the intrinsic aspects that build the literary work itself. This research method uses a descriptive method with central study data collection techniques. The research results show that the script "Senja dengan Dua Kelelawar" has a theme of romance. This script has eight characters with their respective roles and characters. The flow used is a forward flow. The setting in this text consists of place setting, time setting and social setting. Uses third person omniscient point of view. There are several messages that contain life values ​​that can be learned; a) the importance of honesty to build relationships between people, b) you must learn from mistakes, c) enthusiasm in living a life full of trials. The study of this text can encourage positive changes in various aspects of human life and provide benefits to the general public.

Abstract

This article delves into the structural analysis of "Temanku Sayang Temanku Malang (Ken Kembalilah Seperti Dulu)", a drama script penned by Elsa Pebriyanti. The study aims to identify and examine the various structural elements that contribute to the overall narrative and thematic impact of the play. Through a critical analysis of the script, this research explores the ways in which Pebriyanti employs structural devices such as plot structure, character development, dialogue, and stage directions to convey the story's themes and messages. The analysis reveals that the script's narrative structure is characterized by a non-linear progression, with multiple flashbacks and flashforwards that blur the lines between past and present. This non-linear approach allows Pebriyanti to explore the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of past actions on the present. Furthermore, the study highlights the effective use of character development, particularly in the portrayal of the protagonist, whose emotional journey serves as a catalyst for the story's themes of love, loss, and redemption. The analysis also examines the role of dialogue in shaping the characters' personalities and relationships, as well as the ways in which stage directions contribute to the overall atmosphere and mood of the play. Additionally, the study discusses the significance of the play's title and its relationship to the themes and plot, highlighting the ways in which Pebriyanti uses the title to set the tone for the audience's engagement with the story. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that the structural elements of "Temanku Sayang Temanku Malang (Ken Kembalilah Seperti Dulu)" are carefully crafted to create a rich and nuanced narrative that explores the complexities of human relationships and the power of love and redemption. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the script's structural dynamics and their impact on the audience's experience of the play.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the intrinsic elements in a drama script "Badai Throughout the Night" by Max Arifin using a structuralism approach. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. In this research, intrinsic elements can be obtained which consist of theme, plot, characters and characterization, setting and message.

Abstract

The structural approach has been widely used by researchers to reveal the implied meaning in a literary work. Drama as a literary genre is built by physical elements that bind each other into one complete story so that it can be acted out in a drama performance. This research aims to analyze the structure of the drama script "Operasi" by Putu Wijaya. A structural approach is used to identify and describe the intrinsic elements that make up the entire text of a drama script. The elements analyzed include theme, plot, characters and characterization, setting, dialogue, message, and so on. In-depth analysis of a script's structure helps understand how the story is structured, conflict develops, characters develop, and themes are conveyed. This analysis uses a qualitative descriptive research method by utilizing qualitative data and describing it descriptively. The aim of this research is to reveal how the drama script "Operasi" is a reflection of society and current social conditions through the structure of its construction. Apart from that, its relevance to learning in schools can develop a deeper understanding of literary works. This scientific article highlights the artistic excellence of manuscripts and the importance of understanding structural analysis in appreciating and interpreting literary works. It is hoped that the results of the structural analysis of the drama script "Operasi" by Putu Wijaya will be able to add to the literature for further research.

Abstract

Apart from being a means of entertainment, drama can also be used as a means of learning and as an object of research. The object of study in this research is a drama script by Tatang Sontani entitled "Unfortunately There Are Other People". from the sociological study of literature in the script "Unfortunately There Are Others" by Utuy Tatang Sontani focusing on the analysis of the moral values contained in the drama. This research uses a literary sociology approach to understand how the drama reflects social reality and moral values related to human life. The research results show that the drama "Love There Are Others" expresses various forms of moral values related to human relationships in the social environment of society. This is shown through interactions between characters. This research also shows that the drama can be used as an alternative teaching material in language and literature education in high schools.

Abstract

Drama has become a mirror of human life, creating narratives that enrich our understanding of human existence. This article explains basic concepts in the world of drama, along with important approaches in studying literary works such as structural and expressive. The structural approach helps us understand the formal elements of drama that interact with each other to form a cohesive narrative, while the expressive approach allows us to explore layers of emotions and character motivations which also discusses expressive speech acts, which are the use of language in drama to convey messages and emotions. Through exploring these concepts, we can deepen our experience in understanding and appreciating dramatic works, as well as reflecting on the human essence revealed on the stage of life. The data source for the study using a structural and expressive approach to speech acts in this research is the drama script Jadi Gila by Chairil Anwar by analyzing each dialogue of the characters. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques use reading, note-taking and literature study techniques. Meanwhile, the technique for analyzing data uses content analysis.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain a description of the elements that make up a drama script. The method used in the structural study of the drama script "Lautan Bernyanyi" by Putu Wijaya is to use a qualitative descriptive method. "Qualitative research is research used to examine the condition of natural objects. The data analysis technique used in this research is qualitative descriptive data analysis, namely describing the intrinsic elements contained in the drama script "Lautan Bernyanyi". The results of the research reveal that the plot of the drama script "Lautan Bernyanyi" by Putu Wijaya is classified as an advanced plot. The characters in the drama script "Lautan Bernyanyi" by Putu Wijaya consist of the characters Captain, Chomol, Panieka, Adenan, Rubi, Dayu Sanur, Shaman. The drama script "The Singing Ocean" is set on the deck of the Tiger Laut ship. The setting of Putu Wijaya's "Singing Ocean" takes place in an atmosphere of tension, anxiety, panic, fear, anger and joy. The major theme of the drama The Singing Sea is Captain Leo's doubts as a human being who always thinks logically and opposes forms of myth that have been passed down from generation to generation to be believed. The minor theme of the drama The Singing Sea is the relationship between Captain Leo and his subordinate Comol. The message can be taken, that we humans must have firm beliefs to determine something.
