Abstract

This research aims to develop an instrument to measure the implementation of inclusive education in universities. The research was developed using a mixed-methods approach, which combines the Theoretical Framework and Needs Assessment. The first stage of the research involved literature review to investigate the relevant instrument and references that support the development of an instrument for measuring inclusive education in universities. The second stage was a needs assessment conducted at universities in Padang. The subjects of the research were 47 university students from four universities in Padang. The data were analyzed using focus group discussion. The study of the index for inclusion for higher education was compared to the results of the research. Findings of the research showed that five aspects are needed to develop the instrument of index for inclusion in universities. Lecturers and students also selected the five aspects to be the obligatory aspects that should be placed in the instrument of the implementation of inclusive education. The instrument developed in this research is the instrument of index for inclusion, which is divided into five aspects. The five aspects were developed based on a literature review. The results of the research are expected to be the guide in measuring the implementation of inclusive education in universities and help students with special needs to be provided with physical and non-physical accessibilities in universities.

Abstract

COVID-19 caused the learning process to change from a face-to-face learning process to a distance learning process by using various applications. However, this learning process is also considered less effective in math because students’ conceptual understanding is imperfect. The imperfection of this concept caused students to experience learning loss. This research aimed to analyze students’ learning loss in elementary schools in mathematics subjects. This research used a qualitative research design with a case study type of research. This research involved 280 fifth-grade students from 4 elementary schools. The research results showed that students experienced learning loss in understanding geometry and fraction concepts. Students cannot solve math problems if the problem contains two concepts at once. According to the students, they did not understand these three topics well because when studying these topics, they carried out a distance learning process. Based on these findings, researchers concluded that students experienced learning loss in the high category, with 82% students affected. This study highlights the need for teachers to address learning loss that students experience in geometry and fraction materials. Thus, mathematics teachers can prepare learning tools to help students overcome learning loss.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to subtract two numbers in a series downwards with the borrowing technique through the use of counting board media for deaf students in grade VI at SLB N 1 Panti. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects in this study were two deaf students in grade VI at SLB N 1 Panti. The study was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of four meetings covering the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages systematically. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and testing. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the initial ability of students in subtracting using the borrowing technique was at 0% for RR and 0% for PA. In cycle I there was an increase, namely RR reaching 50% and PA 60%. Furthermore, in cycle II, students' abilities increased significantly to RR 95% and PA 100%. These results indicate that the use of counting board media is effective in improving the ability to subtract two numbers with the borrowing technique in deaf students.

Abstract

Anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK) memerlukan perhatian dan penanganan yang tepat untuk mengoptimalkan potensi tumbuh kembangnya. Masyarakat Padang Tarok, Kecamatan Baso masih memiliki keterbatasan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam menangani ABK. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam mengidentifikasi, menangani, dan mendampingi anak berkebutuhan khusus. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui workshop dengan teknik ceramah, diskusi, dan simulasi praktik. Peserta terdiri dari orangtua, guru, kader kesehatan, dan tokoh masyarakat. Materi workshop meliputi deteksi dini tumbuh kembang anak, jenis-jenis kebutuhan khusus, teknik stimulasi, dan strategi penanganan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa setelah dilakukan pemberdayaan melalui workshop maka masyarakat Padang Tarok mampu memahami tahapan tumbuh kembang anak dan cara penanganan ABK dengan baik melalui aplikasi deteksi tumbuh kembang anak. Kegiatan ini juga berhasil membentuk kelompok pendukung ABK di tingkat komunitas. Workshop ini terbukti efektif dalam memberdayakan masyarakat untuk lebih peduli dan mampu menangani anak berkebutuhan khusus secara optimal.

Abstract

This research is based on the problem that the researcher found at SLB Autisma YPPA Bukittinggi, where a student with intellectual disabilities is having difficulty recognizing consonant letters. This study aims to help improve the students' ability to recognize consonant letters by utilizing magnetic board media. The researcher employs a quantitative research method with an experimental approach in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) with A-B design. The data collection technique consists of performance tests, and the data are analyzed visually through graphs. The subject of this research is a student with moderate intellectual disabilities who is in class X at SLB Autisma YPPA Bukittinggi. The research results show that in the baseline condition (A) observed three times, the percentages obtained were consecutively 25%, 25%, and 25%. After being given interventions using magnetic boards in condition (B) for eight observation times, the students experienced an increase in ability with percentages of 37.5%, 50%, 50%, 75%, 75%, 100%, 100%, and 100%. It can be concluded that the use of magnetic board media is effective in improving the ability to recognize consonant letters for children with moderate intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the flawless makeup artistry skills of hearing-impaired students through the explicit instruction method. The study was conducted on two eighth-grade students at SLBN 2 Sawahlunto using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach in two cycles, each consisting of four meetings. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and performance assessment. The research results indicate a significant improvement in flawless makeup skills. The RRP skill score increased from 40.57% to 94.92% at the end of Cycle I, and reached 100% in Cycle II. VAP improved from 35.50% to 92.75% by the end of Cycle I, and reached 99.27% in Cycle II. Both students were able to complete all stages of makeup application independently with smooth, neat, and symmetrical final results. These findings indicate that the explicit instruction method is effective in enhancing beauty skills among hearing-impaired students.

Abstract

Adaptive physical education is a direct service that can be provided to children with special needs, to meet the individual physical-motor needs of students with disabilities. A case study shows that blind people are less motivated to play sports, one of which is playing basketball. So, development research was carried out by creating a basketball game model for the blind. This game model was designed by modifying the facilities and rules in the game of basketball and adapted to the characteristics of the visually impaired. Researchers used a research and development design with several modified stages. Validation was carried out using the Focus Group Discussion technique, namely discussions with users, namely the visually impaired, and the model was validated by experts using a validation test instrument with a Likert scale reference. This instrument contains three aspects of assessment, namely suitability, usefulness and appropriateness of playing basketball for the blind. The results of the analysis of the blind basketball game model showed that the percentage of suitability aspects = 81%, usability aspect = 100%, feasibility aspect = 77%. So the blind basketball game model is suitable, useful, and worthy of being developed and tested.

Abstract

For children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, early reading skills often present a challenge that hinders literacy achievement. Difficulty recognizing letters and connecting sounds is a major obstacle in the learning process. Therefore, innovative, interactive, and adaptive learning media are needed to meet the child's specific needs. This research aims to develop the Bacara application as an interactive learning medium to improve early reading skills in children with dyslexia. The development process uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, and Implementation. Evaluation is limited to the Implementation stage due to time and condition limitations. The Bacara application is designed using Articulate Storyline software, equipped with material features, interactive quizzes, audio guides, and the use of dyslexia-friendly fonts. Data collection techniques and tools through observation, interviews, tests, and validation tests by media experts, material experts, and language experts. The results of the study indicate that the Bacara application is declared feasible in terms of content and appearance, practical in use, and has the potential to be used as a supporting medium in developing early reading skills in dyslexic children. This media is suitable for widespread use and is recommended to be accompanied by training for educators so that its use can run optimally according to the needs of children.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan siswa disabilitas rungu di SLB Autisma Permata Bunda Fase B dalam mengidentifikasi bangun datar. Dua siswa, HM dan DN, kesulitan mengenali bangun datar saat diperlihatkan secara acak, meski sudah hafal urutan bergambar. Dengan jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dan penggunaan media Fun Shape Board, siswa diajak menunjuk, mencocokkan, dan menuliskan  bangun datar. Hasilnya sangat positif, ketuntasan belajar HM meningkat dari 30% menjadi 97%, dan DN dari 40% menjadi 95%. Media ini terbukti efektif membantu siswa memahami dan mengingat bentuk serta nama bangun datar secara lebih baik meskipun tanpa urutan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa Fun Shape Board signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan identifikasi bangun datar bagi siswa disabilitas rungu

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan siswa disabilitas intelektual ringan yang mengalami kesulitan dalam berhitung 1-10 di SLBN Kuala Tungkal kelas III. Salah satu solusi yang dapat diberikan adalah menggunakan modifikasi permainan engklek. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung peserta didik disabilitas intelektual ringan. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas (classroom action research) dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 3 orang peserta didik. Hasil pembelajaran peserta didik pada kemampuan awal adalah R 67%, A 70%, MA 58%. Kemudian pada siklus I yang dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali pertemuan diperoleh dari hasil yang menunjukkan persentase pada siswa R 67%, A 70%, MA 58%. Setelah dilaksanakan sebanyak tiga kali pertemuan pada siklus II maka memperoleh hasil rata-rata dari ketiga siswa yaitu  R 94%, A 94%, MA 88%. Berdasarkan hasil kemampuan yang diperoleh peserta didik, bahwa peserta didik telah mampu berhitung 1-10 sesuai dengan yang diharapkan oleh peneliti dan kolaborator.
