Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the learning environment in supporting the socio-emotional development of early childhood within the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka. A positive learning environment has been proven to significantly contribute to the development of children's socio-emotional skills, such as communication, empathy, and emotional regulation. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this research analyzed 25 articles published between 2018 and 2025 from various indexed journals. The findings reveal that positive interactions with teachers and peers, active parental involvement, and the integration of educational games significantly support the formation of children's socio-emotional skills. The Kurikulum Merdeka provides significant opportunities through project-based learning and activities tailored to children's developmental needs. However, challenges such as teachers' limited understanding of the approach and inadequate educational facilities remain significant obstacles. Collaboration between schools and families, along with continuous teacher training, is essential to optimize the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in fostering early childhood socio-emotional development. Keywords: Socio-Emotional Development; Early Childhood; Kurikulum Merdeka; Systematic Literature Review.

Abstract

This article explores the application of Islamic counseling for early childhood education (PAUD) through Islamic mindfulness methods as a strategy to establish a spiritual foundation in the modern era. Islamic counseling plays a crucial role in integrating religious values into the educational process, while Islamic mindfulness techniques assist children in developing self-awareness and emotional regulation. Utilizing a qualitative approach with library research, this study examines the benefits and challenges associated with implementing these two methodologies. The findings reveal that the combination of Islamic counseling and mindfulness significantly enhances children's character and spirituality, fostering a positive relationship between parents and children. Furthermore, this integrated approach is anticipated to contribute meaningfully to the development of a generation equipped with strong Islamic values, capable of navigating the complexities of the digital age. By emphasizing the importance of spiritual education in early childhood, this research underscores the need for educators and parents to collaborate in nurturing children's moral and ethical development. Abstract

This study explores the evolution of surau as a traditional Islamic educational institution in West Sumatra across different historical periods. The surau played a crucial role as a center for religious instruction and character formation within Minangkabau society. However, socio-political and educational developments have led to functional and structural transformations. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-historical design, the research was conducted in key regions such as Padang Panjang, Bukittinggi, Payakumbuh, and Agam. Data were collected through literature reviews, field observations, and in-depth interviews with community leaders, surau caretakers, and alumni. The findings reveal that the surau has shifted from an informal, community-based educational center to an institution increasingly integrated into formal Islamic education, such as madrasahs. Although no longer structurally dominant, the surau continues to serve as a hub for spiritual guidance and local cultural values. This study recommends revitalizing the role of the surau to complement modern Islamic education, especially in response to the challenges of globalization and the erosion of value-based frameworks within formal education systems.

Abstract

The development of global education reflects a paradigm shift in curriculum design toward a deep learning approach, which emphasizes critical, reflective, and contextual learning. In the context of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), this approach creates opportunities to integrate religious moderation values in a transformative and relevant way in response to contemporary challenges. This study aims to examine global trends in deep learning curriculum and analyze its relevance to strengthening moderation values in IRE in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative descriptive literature review of national and international publications between 2020 and 2024. The results reveal that deep learning strategies can foster students' critical thinking, tolerance, and adaptability in facing diversity. Scholars such as Michael Fullan and Andy Hargreaves are widely recognized for their work in deep learning education, while in the field of religious moderation in Indonesia, figures such as Siti Musdah Mulia, Nasaruddin Umar, and Budhy Munawar-Rachman have made significant contributions to promoting inclusive Islamic values. This study recommends integrating deep learning principles into the IRE curriculum as a strategy to develop a moderate, contextual, and socially responsive model of religious education.

Abstract

Abstract

Writing high-quality teaching materials is an essential skill for teachers to enhance the effectiveness of learning. However, many teachers still face difficulties in developing teaching materials that are systematic, engaging, and aligned with the curriculum. This mentoring program aims to analyze the effectiveness of guided mentoring-based teaching material writing assistance at SDN 11 Ampang, Padang City. The mentoring process employs the Service Learning (SL) method, which includes several stages: needs identification, planning, implementation, as well as reflection and evaluation. The results of the mentoring indicate that guided mentoring-based assistance positively impacts the improvement of teachers’ competencies in preparing teaching materials. Teachers showed progress in technical skills, creativity, and understanding of curriculum standards. Therefore, this mentoring model is effective in enhancing teachers’ skills in producing higher-quality teaching materials. This approach can be recommended as a strategy for professional development of teachers in elementary schools.

Abstract

Classical Islamic educational thought holds valuable principles relevant to early childhood education, particularly within Islamic Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions in Indonesia. However, modern educational systems often overlook the historical contribution of Islamic thought in shaping children’s character. This study aims to explore the historical narrative of Islamic educational thought on children and analyze its relevance to current PAUD practices. This research adopts a qualitative approach using historical and content analysis methods. Data sources include the works of Al-Ghazali, Ibn Sina, and Ibn Khaldun, as well as contemporary literature on Islamic PAUD practices. The findings indicate that values such as adab, ruhiyah, compassion, and social responsibility remain highly relevant and can be contextually integrated into Islamic PAUD curricula. The study recommends revitalizing classical Islamic educational values in the development of PAUD curricula and pedagogical strategies rooted in Islamic character and spirituality. Abstract

This study aims to identify the transformation of Islamic educational thought for children in Indonesia and the accompanying educational values throughout history. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with content and historical analysis, data were collected from classical and contemporary literature, educational documents, and the works of Islamic education figures. The findings reveal that Islamic education for children is dynamic and context-sensitive. In the pre-colonial period, it emphasized morality and spirituality rooted in community-based learning. During the colonial era, Islamic and national values were integrated. The post-independence era marked the formalization of education with a focus on character and social responsibility. In the contemporary era, the approach highlights inclusiveness, digital literacy, and religious moderation. The study concludes that Islamic child education remains rooted in Islamic core values while adapting to socio-cultural dynamics.
