Abstract

This study was aimed (1) to analyze factors affecting adoption of System of Rice Intensification (SRI), (2) to measure technical, allocative and economic efficiencies of rice farming (3) to identify the factors that influence the technical inefficiency of rice farming. The data was gather from 90 rice farmers in the study area. The analysis method used are probit fuction model and the stochastic frontier production and frontier cost function. The result showed that variables implementation of SRI was affected by factors such as land, frequency extension, and long periode of farm group membership. The implementation of SRI were able to improve the productivity of rice farming. The level of technical efficiency (TE) was efficient with average TE value either SRI and without SRI rice farming each of 0.88 and 0.89. The level of allocative and economic efficiencies of SRI and without SRI rice farming was inefficient. The average values of allocative efficiency of SRI and without SRI rice farming were each 0.41 and 0.42. The average values of economic efficiency of SRI and without SRI rice farming were each 0.36 and 0.37. Family size was significantly to reduce of level technical inefficiency of SRI and family size, land tenure, farm status was significantly to reduce of level technical inefficiency of without SRI rice farming. Policy implications, the goverment needs to support accessibility and availability of production inputs to enhancement the productivity of rice farming.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the top coffee producers in the world. The major markets for Indonesian coffee are European Union (EU), then Germany is the largest importing country. This research analyzed the position for Indonesian robusta coffee in Germany among Vietnam and India as the major producers of robusta coffee as Indonesia. The econometric model of the Linear Approximate Almost Ideal Demand System was used to estimate a position for Indonesian robusta coffee among its competitors. The analysis utilized time-series data from 1996 to 2017. The results of the study showed that the main exporting countries, including Indonesia, tended to have lower import tariffs than other countries, not the main exporters. The demand for imported coffee beans was generally influenced by the prices of major exporters, but demand for imported roasted coffee was not affected by the prices of major importing countries. Indonesian coffee beans in the German market was elastic, while roasted coffee was inelastic. Indonesian coffee competed with Vietnam both for coffee beans and roasted coffee. The expenditure elasticity of Indonesian coffee beans was positive and Indonesian roasted coffee was negative.

Abstract

Along with the importance of the rice industry in the agricultural sector and rural development in Indonesia, it arguably requires the understanding of whether rice farmers have been experiencing changes in their agricultural practices. Within the existing literature, it is commonly found that most farmers in developing countries are characterized as subsistence farmers. This paper aims to explore what factors affecting the degree of farmers’ subsistence in the Indonesian rice industry. To this end, this study employed regression analysis using data from the national agricultural survey in 2014. The empirical results find that both the characteristics of farm households and rice on-farm characteristics have statistically significant effects on the farmers’ decision whether to commercialize or become subsistence. In addition, the farm gate price is also found to have a statistically significant effect, but the effect is found to be relatively small. In general, this study suggests that subsistence farming in the Indonesian rice industry is still significant though many literatures have emphasized the existence of structural change in the agricultural system in Indonesia.

Mitra Tani Farm is one of the solution for the farmer, though not all of the farmers in the village participate in the partnership. This study aims to analyse the implementation of the partnership, to describe the farming performance with descriptive analysis, and to comparethe male sheep fatteningprofitof farmers who have a partnership with Mitra Tani Farm to that ofthose who do not. The results show that the non-partnership farmer obtainesthe highest ratio of profit to cash cost per SDD per period. On the other hand, in all scale, the ratio of profit to total cost per SDD per period is negative, which can be concluded that the fattening business is disadvantaging. Primary data were collected rendomly from 74 respondents. Data were analyzed by describe, correlation and binary logistic regression. The results showed that in the perception of farmers, determination of cassava rafaksi determined by several criteria such as the age of harvest, varieties, aci levels and the amount of dirt but not obtained a measure to ensure that criteria and only use the visual observation. The results of correlation analysis showed that there was no statistically significant connection between harvest time and the varieties of cassava with rafaksi of cassava which received by farmers. The result of binary logistic regression analysis showed that rafaksi loan significantly affected the choice of marketing channels.

Abstract

Palm sugar as a source of income is mostly produced by palm sugar producers who are in the village, depending on the population of existing palm trees. Available raw materials and prevailing prices affect income. This study aims to (1) analyze the structure of production costs and business income of palm sugar and (2) analyze the factors that influence the income of palm sugar producers in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province. The method used to analyze the cost structure is income analysis (π = TR - TC) by calculating the use of total costs (TC = TFC + TVC) used in once production process. Factors that influence palm sugar income are  price of palm sugar, number of productive trees, and yield of palm sugar. Primary data obtained from palm sugar prodicers using questionnaires and secondary data obtained from previous research. Analysis of factors that influence income using multiple linear regression analysis,  processed using the SPSS 16.0 Program. Research results show that the average income obtained by palm sugar craftsmen in Rejang Lebong District is Rp 150,374 / production. Palm sugar processing business is still feasible to be a business and profitable because the value of profitability obtained is 1.23. Factors that influence income significantly at the level of 95 percent in the form of prices and number of productive trees. Improvements in technological innovations and an increase in the population of palm sugar plants need to be improved to be able to increase the income of palm sugar’ producers in the Rejang Lebong Regency of Bengkulu Province.
