Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Ini Dilaksanakan Untuk Memberikan Kontribusi Bekal Life Skill Kepada Peserta Didik Menjadi Lebih Siap Mandiri Serta Menjadi Insan Yang Produktif. Kegiatan Ini dalam bentuk pelaksanaan Program Pelatihan Seni Grafis Bagi Remaja Desa Jati Sesela Lombok Barat dalam mendukung Program Kewirausahaan. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini adalah Remaja Desa Jati Sesela Lombok Barat yang berjumlah 20 Orang. Pelatihan yang diberikan oleh Tim PKM adalah seni grafis dalam bentuk Cendramata. Pada pelatihan cukil peserta diberikan gambar-gambar ciri khas bentuk dan ornamen Lombok seperti motif cicak, cidomo/dokar, presean gendang belek dan sketsa sirkuit mandalika dan arsitektur lumbung akan di cetak di media tas kanvas/totobag. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan peserta didik hingga 100% terkait kemampuan menggunakan aplikasi Corel Draw Dalam membuat desain seni grais dan desain gantungan kunci dan pin. para peserta juga bisa mengoperasikan mesin press untuk mencetak gantungan kunci dan pin, selain itu peserta didik mampu menghasilkan karya yang berupa gantungan kunci dan pin. Hasil cendramata tersebut dapat dimiliki oleh peserta pelatihan seni grafis sebagai kenang-kenangan dalam mengikuti kegiatan tersebut. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu peserta didik untuk menjadi lebih siap mandiri serta menjadi insan yang produktif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu (1) tahap perencanaan, (2) tahap pelaksanaan, dan (3) tahap evaluasi. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa produk dan karya ilmiah yang akan di publikasi ke dalam jurnal ilmiah sehingga tidak hanya pelaksana pengabdian masyarakat yang dapat memanfaatkan hasil tersebut melainkan masyarakat lainnya.

Abstract

This study investigated EFL students’ speaking skills viewed from self-efficacy at seniors high schools. This to measure students' self-efficacy beliefs and assessments to evaluate their speaking performance to find factors influencing their speaking skills.. The findings of this study had the potential to provide valuable insights into the factors influencing students' speaking skills development and contribute to the enhancement of language learning and teaching practices, also to find whether there is a relationships between students' self-efficacy levels and their performance in speaking tasks. A quantitatave approach was employed by using SPSS IBM 26  and qualitative approach was employed by using observation and questionnaires, utilizing surveys, to measure students' self-efficacy beliefs and assessments to evaluate their speaking performance. The research included 30 second-grade Social Studies students from SMAN 7 Mataram, selected through purposive sampling. A questionnaire with two types of items, totaling 10 questions, was employed as the research tool. The major factors influencing students’ self efficacy at IPS class at SMAN 7 Mataram are social persuasion (50%) and Emotional & Physiological States (50%). The results indicated a strong relationships, with a Pearson correlation coefficient (R) of 0.895, which is considered very high, falling within the 0.80 to 1.000 range. The statistical analysis at a significance level of ? = 0.05 showed a p-value lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, confirming a significant correlation between students’ self-efficacy and their speaking skills. It means that students need encouragement and support from parents, teachers, and their community to boost their self-efficacy to improve English speaking skills.

Abstract

Lamanya sekolah daring yang diakibatkan pandemic Covid 19 yang berkepanjangan selama hampir 3 tahun, membuat kebanyakan siswa di SMAN 1 Gunungsari kehilangan semangat dan motivasi untuk belajar, apalagi belajar Bahasa Inggris yang notabene masih asing di telinga dan pengucapan mereka. Ditambah kemalasan mereka dalam menghapalkan vocabulary atau kosakata dalam Bahasa Inggris, menambah semakin terpuruknya kemampuan mereka dalam berbahasa Inggris. Hal ini cukup meresahkan para guru Bahasa Inggris di sekolah tersebut. Mereka seperti kehilangan cara bagaimana untuk meningkatkan kemampuan vocabulary siswa, sehingga mereka menjadi lebih mudah dalam menghapalkan vocabulary. Mengetahui hal ini Tim kami dari Prodi Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Budaya, Manajemen dan Bisnis bekerjasama dengan LPPM Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika berinisiatif untuk memberikan Pelatihan Pembuatan Media Pembelajaran Vocabulary Melalui Media Kreatif, untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan mempermudah siswa dalam menghapal Vocabulary. Hasil pelatihan memperlihatkan bahwa 90 % guru Bahasa Inggris sangat antusias dalam pelatihan tersebut dan mempraktekannya dalam proses belajar mengajar di kelas.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out whether or not Student Team Work Learning Strategy (STWL) has positive effect on students’ reading comprehension. The research was pre experimental with one pre-test post-test design. The sample of the study was second grade students of MA Nurul Muhsini Jomang Batu Jai Lombok Tengah which consisted of one class 30 students. The instrument used was reading test inthe form of multile chose test and objective test which were consited of 25 items. The score was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis was used to describe mean, mode, median, and standard deviation of group, and inferential analysis was used to describe the value of t-test for comparison between t-table. It was showed that the value of t-test = 5.411 was higher than the value of t-table = 1.692. Alternatively, using Student Team Work Learning Strategy has positive effect on students’ reading comprehension at second grade students of MA Nurul Muhsini Jomang Batu Jai Lombok Tengah.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the reasons of using Indonesian language as medium of instruction at non-English department students. This research is conducted at non English department of Mandalika University of Education and there were two English general lecturers and 14 students taken as samples. Type of research used in this research was descriptive quantitative research by survey model. Data were taken from the result of questionnaires answered by both lecturers and students then analyzed by using frequency and percentage. Based on the research findings it can be concluded that there were ten reasons of using Indonesian as medium of instruction for non-English department students. Those ten reasons covered three functions that for teaching language skills, teaching the component of language skills and class management. The three functions gave positive effect in teaching and learning English at non-English department. For teaching language skills aimed to develop students’ understanding in reading comprehension, to discuss among students is easier, and to make English easy to learn. The using of Indonesian in component of language skills aimed to explain difficult words in reading text in students’ native language, to explain grammar, to explain error made by the students. The reasons of using Indonesian in classroom management can be seen before and after teaching and learning process such as to explain new English teaching material, to develop learning atmosphere more comfortable, to ensure understanding of previous teaching material and giving instruction for assignment or test.

Abstract

Due to the disparities between the source and target languages, some techniques are used during the translation process to ensure that the translated works are equivalent. The study aims to analyze the translation techniques suggested by Molina and Albir used by the fifth-semester English as a Foreign Language students of the English Department of Mandalika University of Education in translating English text into Indonesian text. It also implies that the students have problems with translation. This was descriptive qualitative research. The data are collected through a test by giving them an English text taken from Kompas magazine to be translated into an Indonesian text. And through a structured interview to investigate the problems they faced in translating. After collecting the data, it was analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive data analysis model. The findings indicate that there are six translation techniques. Among them, borrowing is dominantly used as a technique in translating the SL, with the highest use being 77 of 118 sentences that applied the technique. The interview results revealed that their main challenge in translating is preserving the intended meaning while adjusting for contextual and cultural variations and the lack of adequate knowledge about it.

Abstract

This research aimed to find what types of Students’ Communication Style in English Class At SMAN 1 SAKRA and what aspects that can affect students’ communication style in English Class At SMAN 1 SAKRA. This research used a qualitative research method. This research involved the 11th grade students of SMAN 1 SAKRA. There were approximately 35 respondents in Grade XI-C class of 2024. The result of Questionnaire and Document Checklist showed that there are two communication styles used by students in English class, namely Passive communication style and Assertive communication style. Where the total of Passive communication styles are 13 students (37.143%) and the total of Assertive communication styles are 22 students (62.857%). From the results of data analysis using personality test, questionnaires and document checklist, it was found that there are several aspects that can influence students' communication styles, namely in terms of Personality types showed that 80% extroverted that influenced Assertive Communication Style and 20% introverted that influenced Passive Communication style. And also 62,86% of students’ communication style influenced by Relationships, 20% influenced by Language Barriers and 51,43% influenced by Physical condition. Based on the findings, researcher expected to the teacher can create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable to expressing their thoughts and opinions without fear of being judged or ridiculed, so students can develop their English learning strategies through their communication style.

Abstract

This community service aims to help the mosque youth association, which consisted of 20 people as the participants, develop English proficiency in tourism communication and character building. The service method included observation, lectures, participatory approaches, the application of technology, and innovation.  The evaluation of this service was done by monitoring and analyzing activity progress and achievements and written tests and practicing tests of communication skills and character building, given that the team compared the pre-test and the post-test. From the evaluation at the end of the community services by using post test, showed that almost 90% of the mosque youth participants improved their capability in tourism communication as well as character building. The results of this community service activity could improve the mosque youth's ability to use English and prepare them to interact with the global community.

Abstract

Abstract (10 Pt)This research aim was to measure the effect of Problem Based Learning towards students’ writing skill. The research was experimental research and the design used was one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of the study was twelve grade students of SMAN 1 Gunungsari. The class were selected as the samples was XIIA social class as experimental group consisted of 15 students from even serial number and XIIB Social class as control group consisted of 15 with odd serial numbers. The Experimental group was treated by Problem based Learning and control group was given treatment without Problem based Learning method. The instrument used in this research was writing test. In analyzing the data, the researchers used statistical analysis by SPSS software, in which it showed that the sig value of = 0.000 was lower than 0.05. Therefore, according to the results of the analysis, it could be concluded that there was a significant difference in students‟ of writing skill by using Problem based Learning method and those who taught without the Problem Based Learning method at SMAN 1 Gunungsari.

Abstract

The Use of Snowballing Technique to Learn Applying Vocabulary After the Pandemic. This research is aimed at finding out the effectiveness of using snowballing technique to learn applying vocabulary at the third grade students of SMAN 1 Batulayar in academic year 2020/2021. This research is an experimental research with quasi experimental and category of this research is non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research is the third grade students of SMAN 1 Batulayar consist of 62 students. The instrument that will be used to collect the data is test consists of post-test. The data will be analysed by using statistical formula of t-test.The result of data analysis showed that the value of t-test was 4.39 and t-table 2.00. The value of t-testis higher than t-table in significance level0.05 and degree of freedom 62-2. It meant that t-critical value was significant fot this confidence level. Then, alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepeted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It could be concluded that there was an effect of using snowballing technique to teach vocabulary at the third grade students of SMAN 1 Batulayar in Academic year 2021/2022.
