The huge and rapid spread of the pandemic COVID 19 has altered the educational works. Universities have shifted their learning delivery from traditional classrooms to online mode. This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions of online learning implementation in higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eighty students from the English Education Study Program took part in the research. A questionnaire with closed-ended questions was used to collect the data. The findings were presented using descriptive qualitative approaches. The findings of this study revealed that students had a positive perception toward online learning implementation in general. Conducting the online learning during a pandemic is seen as an effective, motivating, and efficient method of gaining knowledge. Few students, however, had a negative perception about internet connection, particularly in remote areas, as well as the learning environment, in which few students will complete assignments honestly since the lecturer is unable to supervise them, which affecting their learning success. Students also felt the need for improvement in terms of student-lecturer relationship and engagement.

This research attempts to investigate the teacher talk types employed in classroom interaction using Flander Interaction Analysis Categories System (FIACS) framework. This research was qualitative research with a descriptive method. The research participants were an English teacher and eleventh-grader students of SMAN 1 Gunungsari. The data collection method is audio recording and observation. The data were collected through two class meetings. To analyze the data, the researchers used interaction analysis systems adapted from Flanders (1970). The study’s findings showed that the seven types of teacher talk were found in classroom interaction with varied percentages of certain occurrences. Of the seven types, lecturing and giving directions were mostly applied by the teacher, which indicated that the teacher’s domination in classroom interaction was high. The teacher offered the students more information and knowledge as well as gave them directions, commands, or orders in the learning process. It also showed that the percentage of direct talk was higher than indirect talk. It is expected that the teachers would use this study as a reference to think about the types of teacher talk they should use to raise their students' engagement in classroom interaction.

Background: Land clearing disputes between communities and foreign investors for gold mining. Where in the end the community chose to open small-scale gold mining lands that only utilized spindles and mercury as amalgam with insufficient knowledge in the use of mercury and the processing of the resulting waste. Situation analysis: Residual mercury from the waste of each log averaged 0.03782 mg/L. The management of waste from logs containing mercury is not anti-absorbent and is left to dry on its own. Lack of concern for waste management is caused by a lack of knowledge about the dangers of mercury. The river water flow in Mitra Village comes from Tetanggga Village which has the same activities. Problems: The waste is allowed to dry on its own causing soil pollution, mercury levels in the river are 0.002 mg/L which exceeds the standard, and there is a lack of public knowledge about the dangers of mercury. Solution: Provide education through counseling on the impact of mercury, training on the manufacture and application of filtering tools and phytoremediation methods. Construction of permanent settling tanks and shelters so that they become anti-absorptive. Conclusion: As many as 94.4% had very good knowledge and 5.56% had good knowledge after conducting counseling on the impact of mercury and 2 logs which were being built with permanent anti-absorptive settling tanks and holding tanks.
