Abstract

This study is entitled "The Impact of Using Information Technology in the Implementation of Guidance and Counseling Services by Guidance and Counseling Teachers at SMKN 1 Sumbar". The background of this study is based on the increasingly rapid development of information technology and its influence on the world of education, including in the implementation of guidance and counseling (BK) services. The use of information technology is expected to improve the quality of BK services, but on the other hand it also has the potential to cause various obstacles both in terms of facilities, understanding, and ethics of use. The purpose of this study is to determine the positive and negative impacts of the use of information technology in the implementation of guidance and counseling services by BK teachers at SMKN 1 Sumbar. This study uses a quantitative approach with a comparative descriptive research type. The study population was 170 students, with a sample of 113 people selected using a sampling technique of 25–30% of the population. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a Likert scale, which has been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the study indicate that the use of information technology in BK services has a positive impact in the form of increased communication and information exchange, ease of access to information, and encouraging collaboration and exchange of ideas. However, negative impacts were also identified, such as students' lack of understanding of information technology media and a tendency to misuse social media in the learning process.Thus, the use of information technology in guidance and counseling services at SMKN 1 Sumbar has been proven to increase service effectiveness, although additional support facilities, improved digital literacy, and supervision are still needed to minimize negative impacts.

Abstract

This study aims to describe self-efficacy, further study choice, and the relationship between self-efficacy and further study choice among ninth-grade students at SMPN 2 Lubuk Sikaping, Pasaman Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample consisted of 95 students selected through proportional sampling. Data were collected using self-efficacy and further study choice questionnaires and analyzed using percentage analysis and correlation tests. The results indicate that students’ self-efficacy was in the high category, while their further study choice was in the low category. The correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between self-efficacy and further study choice, with a moderate level of correlation and a significance value of 0.000. These findings suggest that self-efficacy plays an important role in students’ ability to determine further study choices.

Abstract

Permasalahan Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya pemhaman orangtua tentang kesetaraan gender serta anggapan bahwa isu gender merupakan hal yang tabu untuk dibahas dengan anak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan peran orang tua dalam meningkatkan pemahaman gender peserta didik, ditinjau dari tiga aspek: sebagai pendidik, pengajar, dan contoh teladan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan informan utama dua peserta didik dan empat informan tambahan. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah pedoman wawancara, dan analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) sebagai pendidik, beberapa orang tua memberikan arahan terkait gender saat waktu luang; (2) sebagai pengajar, masih ditemukan penerapan stereotip gender oleh orang tua, khususnya ibu dari salah satu informan; dan (3) sebagai contoh teladan, terdapat orang tua yang memberikan contoh nyata dalam memahami peran gender. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan literasi gender di kalangan orang tua untuk mendukung pemahaman yang lebih setara pada peserta didik.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high level of stress experienced by students of the guidance and counseling study program in the thesis preparation process. The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) a stress coping strategy that focuses on problem-focused coping, and 2) a stress coping strategy that focuses on emotion-focused coping. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with two key informants, namely (TA) and (AD), as well as four additional informants consisting of each student's supervisor, namely (JA) and (S), as well as close friends of each student, namely (NJS) and (DS). The research instrument uses an interview format, while the data analysis technique is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed: 1) a stress coping strategy that focuses on problem solving is carried out by students through efforts to overcome thesis problems directly as a form of problem-focused coping. 2) Stress coping strategies that focus on managing emotions are carried out by students through efforts to manage emotional stress during thesis preparation as a form of emotion-focused coping. The results of this research are recommended to students in order to improve discipline in managing time and reduce the habit of delaying revision work so that the thesis preparation process can run more directed and consistently

Abstract

This research is motivated by the presence of students with low learning behavior who come from broken home families. The purpose of this research is to determine 1). The learning motivation of students from broken home families 2). The factors that influence the learning motivation of students from broken home families 3). The strategies used by students from broken home families to maintain their learning motivation. The type of this research is qualitative research. The key informants in this study are MMR and FM. Meanwhile, the additional informants are A, DS, and E. The data collection method used is interviews. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research shows that the learning behavior of broken home students is still low in almost all aspects. They do not yet have a study routine, are less independent, often procrastinate, and are easily distracted. In terms of thinking, students tend to only memorize, forget quickly, rarely ask questions, and lack critical thinking. Learning attitudes are characterized by procrastination, excuses, and cheating, while in terms of self-control, they are not yet able to manage their emotions or study time well. Although there are differences between MMR, who are more passive, and FM, who are more active, in general, the roles of guidance counselors, parents, and schools are needed to provide intensive guidance so that students' learning behaviors can develop more effectively.

Abstract

In this research, the background is the phenomenon of students' career maturity, who do not know their interests and talents, make mistakes in choosing their majors, and do not know the career direction they will take after graduation. Students often plan their careers unrealistically, without considering their abilities and potential. They tend to rely on others to determine their career future, due to the lack of thorough preparation in planning their next steps. The purpose of this research is to describe: 1) The depiction of students' career maturity before receiving tutoring, 2) The depiction of students' career maturity after receiving tutoring, 3) The effectiveness before and after tutoring in improving students' career maturity. This research uses an experimental method with a One Group Pretest and Posttest research design. With a population of 127 people and a sample of 50 people, the sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The instrument used is the Likert scale, while data analysis employs normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon in the field where there are still students who do not show initiative in seeking additional information about careers and students who lack confidence in their own abilities. The objectives of this research are 1) to provide an overview of the self-confidence of students at SMKN 2 Padang, 2) to provide an overview of the career decisions of students at SMKN 2 Padang, and 3) to examine the relationship between students' self-confidence and their career decisions at SMKN 2 Padang. The research method uses a quantitative approach. The type of research used is correlational with a population of 161 eleventh-grade students, and a sample of 84 students thru simple random sampling. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire with indicators of self-confidence and career decisions. The results of this study show: 1) The self-confidence of 11th-grade students at SMKN 2 Padang is categorized as stable and fairly stable. 2) The career decisions of 11th-grade students at SMKN 2 Padang are categorized as good. 3) There is a fairly strong relationship between self-confidence and career decisions of 11th-grade students at SMKN 2 Padang. Therefore, it is recommended that the Guidance and Counseling Teacher provide services and materials to enhance Self Confidence and career decisions.
