Abstract

One of the fire risks that occur in buildings is hospitals. Hospitals have a high fire risk rating compared to other places. This is due to the activities carried out in hospitals, in addition, hospitals also use chemicals that pose a fire risk. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of hospital employee preparedness in facing fire hazards. The type of research used in this study is analytical-quantitative research. Sampling used random sampling of 150 employees with variable measurements (gender, length of service, education, knowledge, attitudes, fire experience and fire emergency response training). Data collection was carried out from primary and secondary data. Data analysis in this study was carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test and multivariate analysis with the logistic regression test. The results obtained in this study were three variables that were significantly related to hospital employee preparedness in facing fire hazards in Pekanbaru City: knowledge, attitudes, and training. Therefore, the suggestion for hospitals is to routinely conduct emergency response training once a year, and conduct fire awareness campaigns at least once every six months to increase employee knowledge and preparedness in facing fire hazards in hospitals.

Abstract

Ar-Rahim Orphanage is one of the orphanages in Pekanbaru City. The problems that occur in this orphanage are the lack of children's knowledge about environmental health in orphanages and the lack of monitoring of environmental conditions. The purpose of this community service is to increase orphanage children's knowledge about environmental health and empower orphanage children as environmental health peer counselors who can motivate their friends to maintain environmental health independently. The results of this community service are an increase in orphanage children's knowledge about environmental health after counseling as seen from the pre-test and post-test results. The peer counselor program succeeded in empowering orphanage children to become role models in maintaining environmental health. Children not only receive direct benefits, but also play an active role in maintaining cleanliness in the orphanage environment. So it needs supervision from the orphanage manager so that orphanage children want to play a role in maintaining environmental health at the Ar-Rahim Pekanbaru orphanage.

Abstract

Health workers play a key role in handling outbreaks, with performance influenced by factors such as ability, discipline, experience, perception, motivation, leadership support, and appreciation. Despite efforts, basic immunization coverage in recent years has not met the national target of 95%, underscoring the need for optimal health worker performance to achieve coverage goals, control rubella outbreaks, and protect vulnerable groups. This study, conducted at Sentajo and Perhentian Luas Health Centers from January to May 2024, analyzed factors affecting health worker performance in managing rubella outbreaks using a sample of 85 respondents and multivariate regression analysis. The findings indicated that awards (r = 0.377, P = 0.000), motivation (r = 0.336, P = 0.002), ability (r = 0.345, P = 0.000), and work experience (r = 0.302, P = 0.005) significantly influenced performance, with awards having the strongest impact. Conversely, leadership support, discipline, and perception had no significant effect on performance. Based on these results, the Kuantan Singingi District Health Office is advised to implement effective reward policies, such as performance bonuses and certificates of achievement, to boost health worker motivation and performance in handling rubella outbreaks. Enhancing health worker skills and rewarding good performance at the health centers can also help improve immunization rates and community protection against rubella. This approach could serve as a model for other health institutions aiming to increase immunization coverage and disease prevention efforts.

Abstract

The implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors is still relatively low in coastal areas due to a lack of understanding and knowledge among the community about the importance of clean and healthy living behaviors and environmental sanitation conditions. The lack of adequate sanitation facilities will have a direct impact on the risk of environment-based diseases and reduce the quality of life of coastal communities. Therefore, this community service activity aims to provide education and guidance on clean and healthy living behaviors as an initial and strategic step in improving environmental sanitation in coastal areas. The community service method involves counseling and discussions with village officials and the community of Pasiran Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, and analysis using pre-test and post-test methods to measure the success of this community service activity. The results of the community service activity showed an increase in the understanding and knowledge of coastal communities regarding clean and healthy living behaviors. The pre-test and post-test results indicated an increase in knowledge from 65% to 90%, representing a 25% improvement. Additionally, this activity provided an overview of the environmental sanitation conditions in coastal areas, thereby benefiting the enhancement of coastal communities' knowledge about clean and healthy living behaviors. Furthermore, support from health centers through community health workers is needed to consistently provide information.
