Abstract

This study aims to describe the relevance of the ethics of justice to teacher decision-making in education, specifically at MTsN X Merangin. The ethics of justice emphasizes equal treatment, moral responsibility, and respect for student rights. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with three teachers and one principal as subjects. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results indicate that teachers at MTsN X Merangin have attempted to apply the principle of justice in decision-making related to learning, assessment, and student development. This implementation is evident in providing equal opportunities for students to express their opinions, process-oriented assessments, and resolving violations using a dialogical approach. However, a dilemma remains between normative justice (based on rules) and contextual justice (based on empathy and individual situations). Overall, the ethics of justice has been shown to have strong relevance to the formation of wise, humane, and morally value-oriented teacher decisions in education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of teacher professional ethics in maintaining teaching time discipline at SDN X Merangin. Teacher professional ethics serves as a moral guideline regulating responsibility, integrity, and professional commitment in carrying out educational duties. Discipline in teaching time reflects teacher professionalism and directly affects learning quality. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with three classroom teachers and one principal as participants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings show that teachers at SDN X Merangin strive to maintain punctuality and teaching readiness as forms of professional responsibility and respect for students. Professional ethics is reflected in punctual attendance, lesson preparedness, and honesty in implementing schedules. However, external duties, administrative tasks, and limited supervision still affect time discipline. The study concludes that teacher professional ethics strongly supports the establishment of discipline, responsibility, and professionalism in primary education.

Abstract

Professional ethics in education is the moral foundation that guides teachers in carrying out their duties and responsibilities professionally. Teachers not only act as instructors, but also as educators, mentors, and role models for students in the character-building process. This article aims to comprehensively examine professional ethics in education, teachers' responsibilities for student development, the role of teachers as ethical and moral role models, teachers' protection of students' rights, and various obstacles to the application of professional ethics in the educational environment. The method used is a literature review by examining various relevant sources, such as books, scientific journals, and laws and regulations in the field of education. The results of the study show that understanding and applying professional ethics in education greatly determines the quality of the learning process and the educational relationship between teachers and students. Teachers who uphold professional ethics are able to be fair, objective, responsible, and respect the rights and dignity of students. However, in practice, the application of professional ethics still faces various obstacles, such as limited understanding of ethics, high workloads, environmental pressures, and technological developments that require ethical adaptation. Therefore, a shared commitment between teachers, educational institutions, and other stakeholders is needed to strengthen the consistent application of professional ethics. With the proper application of professional ethics, it is hoped that quality education that is character-building and oriented towards the holistic development of students will be realized.
