Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Role Playing learning model in fostering democratic attitudes in students in Civics (PKn) in elementary schools. This study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-experimental design (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The subjects were 11 fifth-grade students of GMIT Kuanino 3 Elementary School. Data were collected using a Likert-scale democratic attitudes questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average score of students' democratic attitudes from 43.00 (Agree) in the pretest to 47.05 (Strongly Agree) in the posttest, representing a 9.88% increase in effectiveness. This increase was confirmed by the results of the Paired Sample T-Test, which yielded a t-value of -5.750 with 10 degrees of freedom (df) and a p-value of 0.000. Because the p value <0.05, it is proven that there is a significant difference between the scores before and after the intervention. It is concluded that the implementation of the Role Playing learning model is significantly effective in fostering democratic attitudes in fifth grade students of GMIT Kuanino 3 Elementary School. Keywords: Role Playing learning model, democratic attitude

Abstract

Abstract

The quality of learning is greatly influenced by teachers' creativity in presenting teaching materials, especially in engaging and visual learning contexts. In the digital era, utilizing technologies like Canva is a solution to increase the effectiveness of material delivery. However, many teachers in 3T (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged) areas, including Katara Elementary School in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, have not yet optimally utilized this application due to limited knowledge and training. This community service program aims to provide training in creating Canva-based learning media to teachers at Katara Elementary School. The method used was participatory training through face-to-face workshops, live demonstrations, independent practice, and mentoring. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills in creating engaging visual learning media, such as infographics, educational posters, and interactive presentations. Most participants stated that this training was very helpful in supporting the learning process in the classroom. Thus, this training has had a positive impact on improving the quality of education in elementary schools, especially in remote areas. This activity also opens up opportunities for further collaboration and digital literacy development for teachers.

Abstract

In the literacy-oriented classroom the students are not only asked to read but also to think critically about what they read. However, in reality many students only read to answer the questions. Problem-Based Learning is one of the models that can be used to solve this problem. This study discusses the implementation of Problem-Based Learning in literacy-oriented classrooms. The study used a mixed-method design with an experimental class and a control class. The data were collected through a literacy test, observation, interview, and student journal. The result shows that the literacy performance of the experimental class is better and the students become more active in discussion. Therefore, Problem-Based Learning is good to be applied in literacy learning.

Abstract

Teacher performance management through the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) requires teachers to plan work-result targets, implement professional development activities, and upload evidence of performance in a documented manner. This community service article aims to describe the mentoring process for fulfilling teachers' Work Result Plans (RHK), strengthening school-based learning communities, and facilitating the upload of performance evidence at SDN Sonraen, Amarasi Selatan, Kupang Regency. The activity used a participatory mentoring method conducted in four sessions from October 2024 to January 2025. Data were collected through attendance records, observation notes, PMM access monitoring, documentation of community-of-practice activities, and recapitulation of teacher performance predicates. The mentoring stages included identification of PMM access, assistance in selecting RHK indicators, facilitation of learning-community activities, upload of performance evidence, and final evaluation. The results show that eight teachers fulfilled RHK requirements with a 100% achievement rate. Two teachers obtained the Excellent predicate and six teachers obtained the Good predicate. The learning community also produced good-practice sharing on teaching modules, clinical supervision, and coconut-based learning media. The program indicates that structured mentoring supported by principal leadership and collegial collaboration can improve teacher readiness in using digital performance-management systems.
