Abstract

School accreditation is a vital component in ensuring the quality of education, including in Muhammadiyah schools in Sukabumi. Unfortunately, many of these schools still face serious challenges, such as limited facilities, insufficient human resources, and a lack of understanding of the latest accreditation instruments. To address these challenges, an accreditation mentoring program was implemented using a participatory approach in eight Muhammadiyah schools. The activities included socialization, training, administrative assistance, and accreditation simulations. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding, with an average score of 89 categorized as “Good,” along with positive responses regarding the content and facilitators. However, disparities in readiness among schools were still evident, as shown by participants with lower scores. The program also faced technical challenges, particularly in scheduling due to the partners’ busy schedules. The conclusion from this program is that it has proven effective in helping schools prepare accreditation documents, understand the latest instruments, and raise awareness about the importance of a sustainable quality culture. The recommended next steps include increasing the intensity and quality of mentoring, ensuring equal support across schools, and developing internal quality assurance systems so that accreditation becomes part of a continuous improvement effort rather than merely an administrative requirement.

Abstract

This community service program focuses on the empowerment of the Rahanyam UMKM group producing Stik IKABEL (fish, moringa, and enbal), a healthy snack with high nutritional value. The selection of this topic stems from the potential of local ingredients and the necessity to improve production efficiency. The methods implemented included training on machine use, production techniques, and marketing strategies. The anticipated outcome is an increase in production capacity, a better understanding of financial management, and enhanced promotional strategies. These improvements will significantly contribute to the sustainability of the Rahanyam UMKM group and help elevate the local economy.

Abstract

The use of unsafe cosmetics among adolescents, particularly those containing mercury, remains a significant public health concern. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ knowledge at SMK Babunnajah through training in mercury identification and education on the safe use of cosmetics. The activity employed interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands-on mercury testing using simple reagent kits. An evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires with 40 students. The results showed a substantial improvement in knowledge levels, with 70% of participants categorised as having high knowledge before the training, increasing to 100% afterwards. All knowledge indicators showed improvement, particularly in understanding product legality and the risks of mercury exposure. This training proved effective in fostering critical awareness and selective behaviour regarding cosmetic use. The program is recommended for replication in other vocational schools as a preventive measure against the use of illegal and harmful cosmetic products.

Abstract

Kayubihi Village is located in Bangli Regency which has natural resources of bamboo trees and creative talent. This opportunity creates a bamboo handicraft business that supports the village economy. However, the analysis of the situation found a problem, namely that the artisan group was unable to meet the needs of business-to-business orders. Taking into account these issues, this activity establishes two main steps: procurement of equipment facilities as an investment in production, and training activities, so that production and marketing capacity and turnover increase. KKN-PMM partners are a group of Bamboo Masterpiece craftsmen. The goal of the program is to improve the quality of human resources in the aspects of production, marketing, and finance. The flow of activities taken in the training is with socialization, counseling, training, and mentoring. The participatory method of environmental scanning, which is participatory from the target community, is used in this service activity. The results of the training show an increase in the ability to use innovative technological equipment, the ability to make product designs according to business needs or desires, the ability to create financial ledgers, and the ability to use social media platforms to market bamboo products.

Abstract

Cyberbullying is a complex problem that requires integrated handling. The advancement of technology among teenagers can increase the cyberbullying.  A team from the Faculty of Administration conducted community service at SMAN 3 Pekanbaru on the issue of cyberbullying by educating the students about the detrimental effects of cyberbullying on social development and mental health, as well as strategies for overcoming them. The methods used include lectures, discussions, questions and answers, and illustrations of the impact of cyberbullying. The results of this activity show an improvement in participants' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of cyberbullying. Evaluation of this activity can help reduce the number of cyberbullying incidents among students and foster a more positive technology use culture in schools. The evaluation revealed that the socialization program effectively enhanced students' knowledge and awareness. This enables them to actively contribute to fostering a secure school atmosphere devoid of cyber aggression. PKM also emphasized that teacher and parent involvement can reduce the number of bullying cases on social media.

Abstract

This training aims to improve students' polite language skills at SMPN 2 Parepare. The problem encountered is that around 65% of students have difficulty in applying the principles of polite communication, both in interactions with teachers, peers, and in broader social contexts. The training program was developed by the Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, using Participatory Action Research and Culture-Based Learning approaches. The results of the training showed an increase in students' understanding and ability in polite language communication. The positive impact of this program can be seen in the changes in students' attitudes that show politeness in communication. In conclusion, this training is important to improve students' personal quality with polite language skills.

Abstract

The scientific writing training for teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Parepare was conducted in response to the low capacity of teachers to produce publishable academic works. A total of 30 teachers participated in the program, which employed an audiovisual-based Jigsaw approach characterized by collaboration and interactivity. The training methods included lectures, expert and home group discussions, writing simulations, and evaluations through pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicated an increase in teachers’ motivation and competence in developing scientific writing structures and components. The drafts produced demonstrated a solid understanding of academic structure and writing skills grounded in school-based instructional practices. This program not only enhanced teachers’ scientific literacy but also promoted sustained collaboration through the establishment of teacher working groups and supportive school policies. These findings underscore the significance of the Jigsaw-AV approach in improving teacher professionalism and overall educational quality.

Abstract

 Welding activities in shipyards pose risks of exposure to heat, radiation, metal fumes, and hazardous gases that can cause health problems. Initial observations show that most workers do not understand occupational safety and the proper use of PPE. This activity aims to improve welders' knowledge of occupational safety and health and provide PPE assistance. This outreach activity measures workers' knowledge before and after education using a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using a dependent t-test, yielding results indicating an increase in workers' knowledge after receiving OSH education, with a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05. Continuous education is necessary to enable workers to enhance their knowledge, thereby impacting safe and secure work practices at the workplace

Abstract

This community service (PKM) aims to empower partners through zero waste methods in processing coconut waste into cocopeat and cocofiber products. The partner in this PKM is Poktan Wanua Cina, which is located in Tanete Village, Cina District. Activities include counseling, training, and mentoring. The results of the counseling showed an increase in partner knowledge and understanding, with an average score of 59.82. Counseling succeeded in increasing partners' awareness and motivation about the importance of coconut waste processing. Training showed an increase in partners' technical skills with an average increase of 59.55. Mentoring is intended to ensure that partners can apply the knowledge and skills that have been obtained. The mentoring results showed an average increase of 63.91. This PKM activity has proven effective in empowering partners with the resulting products having the potential to become village superior products.

Abstract

The emergency of language death is something that must be anticipated, one of the ways that can be taken to protect the language is by compiling a dictionary of the language (language documentation and revitalization). This study aims to support the preservation of the Cia-Cia language, a regional language of Southeast Sulawesi that is endangered. The UGM Master of Linguistics study program community service team collaborates with the Officers of Southeast Sulawesi language Institution compiled a bilingual Indonesian-Cia-Cia dictionary. The assistance provided is by holding workshops involving lexicography experts, students, and native speakers of the Cia-Cia language over a period of six months. The method was carried out online through a step-by-step procedure, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The result of the study is a bilingual Indonesian–Cia-Cia Dictionary containing 2,000 entries. It is hoped that this activity will serve as an initial step in the ongoing efforts to document and revitalize the Cia-Cia language in the future.
