Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of flashcard media based on the Global Method on the word reading skills of second-grade elementary school students. The study was motivated by students’ low word reading ability, particularly in terms of fluency, accuracy, and holistic word recognition. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The participants consisted of 46 second-grade students divided into an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments measuring word reading skills. The data were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests followed by an Independent Samples t-test. The findings revealed that the post-test mean score of the experimental group (88.48) was higher than that of the control group (75.96). the hypothesis testing showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically significant effect. Therefore, flashcard media based on the Global Method significantly improves students’ word reading skills, particularly in terms of fluency and accuracy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the educational dance approach in dance learning at Kesuma Kindergarten, Bandar Lampung. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research subjects include educators and students of the Matahari class, while the research object is focused on the dance learning process that applies the educational dance approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation and interviews. Data validity is obtained through triangulation of sources and techniques, while data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and finally the conclusion drawing stage. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the educational dance approach in dance learning is carried out through two elements of educational dance, namely, creative dance and expressive dance. The creative dance stage is able to provide space for students to explore movements in forming animals freely, while the expressive dance stage is able to provide space for students to express feelings and emotions through question instructions and broad hand movements. The implementation of learning helps foster students' self-confidence in exploring the forms of aquatic animals, creating a pleasant learning atmosphere, and increasing students' learning readiness so that students become more focused. Overall, the implementation of an educational dance approach can create a fun learning environment and encourage students to be more creative and expressive.

Abstract

This study examines the realization of Speech Acts within online news media, specifically focusing on articles published in the Law and Criminal section of Detik.com, one of Indonesia’s most popular news portals. Drawing on the Speech Act Theory introduced by J.L. Austin (1962) and further developed by John Searle (1969), the research explores how language in online journalism functions not merely as a tool for reporting facts, but as a mechanism for performing actions such as persuading readers, framing social issues, and constructing public opinion. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the study analyzed utterances, statements, and quotations sourced from legal authorities, victims, and suspects in Detik.com articles published between January and October 2025. The findings indicate that assertive/representative speech acts dominate the reporting in the Law and Criminal section. These acts are primarily employed by authoritative sources, such as the police, to provide factual, objective, and instructive accounts of events, thereby shaping the meaning of the case for the public. Furthermore, the study identified the presence of Commissives (used by officials to commit to future actions or disclosures) and Expressives (used by individuals to convey psychological states like relief or shock). This research fills a gap by demonstrating that Detik.com journalists actively perform linguistic actions that construct public trust and shape moral judgments, highlighting how linguistic choices reflect broader social and legal ideologies within institutional discourse.

Abstract

Education plays an important role in developing students' knowledge, skills, and learning motivation. However, conventional learning methods that rely heavily on lectures and textbooks often make students feel bored and less engaged in the learning process. Therefore, the integration of technology in learning is needed to create a more interactive and engaging learning environment. This study aims to examine the implementation of the Kahoot learning media in teaching the topic of Indonesian archipelago, as well as its effect on students' technological literacy and learning motivation. This research used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The research was conducted at Sanggar Bimbingan At-Tanzil Putra Kajang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, involving nine third-grade students as research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using pretest and posttest, questionnaires, and interviews with the class teacher. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test with the help of SPSS, while qualitative data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the implementation of Kahoot in learning can create a more interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, making students more active and enthusiastic in participating in the lesson. The findings also indicate an increase in students’ learning outcomes, with the average score rising from 4.11 in the pretest to 8.89 in the posttest. The paired sample t-test result shows a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of Kahoot on students’ learning outcomes. In addition, the use of Kahoot contributes to improving students’ learning motivation and technological literacy. Therefore, Kahoot can be considered an effective digital learning medium to support interactive and technology-based learning.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the important role of music in church worship as a medium of faith expression and as a support for the spiritual atmosphere of the congregation, as well as the need to develop worship accompaniment through the use of the violin. The musical accompaniment at BNKP Faomasi Tarutung Resort 48 has primarily relied on the organ; therefore, musical innovation was introduced through a violin duet arrangement of Zinuno Hymn No. 146, “No Owulo Ndra’aga.” This research is grounded in theories of basic violin techniques—particularly détaché, legato, and slur—along with concepts of musical arrangement and the function of music in liturgical contexts. The study employs a qualitative interpretative approach to understand how violin techniques are applied to support the musical and spiritual meaning of the hymn. Data were collected through observation, documentation study, and analysis of the score and performance practice. The findings reveal that détaché provides clear articulation, legato creates smooth and expressive melodic flow, and slur strengthens phrase continuity, resulting in an accompaniment that aligns with the hymn’s character. The violin duet arrangement enriches tonal color, deepens congregational engagement, and enhances the musical quality of worship. Thus, appropriate violin techniques offer an expressive and contextual alternative for developing church music.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of language attitudes in the formation of polite communication character in elementary school students. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method conducted at Pamengger 02 Public Elementary School. The research subjects consisted of 31 fifth-grade students. Data collection was conducted through observation activities and interviews with class teachers. The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was strengthened by source triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that students' language attitudes are related to communication behavior that occurs in interactions in the school environment. Students' views on the use of Javanese also influence the way they communicate, both with teachers and with peers. Positive language attitudes can support the formation of polite communication character in students through the habit of using polite language in daily activities at school.

Abstract

Gross motor development plays an important role in early childhood as it provides the foundation for children to perform more complex physical activities and supports their health, independence, and self-confidence. This study aimed to improve the gross motor skills of early childhood children through movement and song activities. The study employed a classroom action research design conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of three meetings, involving 18 children aged 5–6 years, including 11 boys and 7 girls. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The results showed an improvement in children’s gross motor skills, with the average achievement increasing from 27.8% in the pre-cycle to 50.0% in Cycle I and reaching 82.1% in Cycle II, indicating an overall increase of 54.3% from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. Improvements were also observed in each indicator, namely the ability to imitate movements increased from 33.3% to 87.0%, the ability to repeat movements increased from 27.8% to 81.5%, and the ability to express movements confidently increased from 22.2% to 77.8%. Since the success criterion of more than 75% was achieved in Cycle II, the study was considered successful. Therefore, it can be concluded that movement and song activities are effective in improving the gross motor skills of early childhood children, and they are recommended as an alternative learning strategy by incorporating variations of songs, the use of simple props, and positive reinforcement.

Abstract

The integration of philosophical, theological, and pedagogical foundations in the transformation of contemporary Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning forms the central focus of this study. Social changes, the rapid development of digital technology, and the demands of 21st-century competencies have positioned PAI not merely as a process of transferring religious knowledge, but also as a systematic effort to develop character, strengthen spiritual literacy, and foster students’ critical thinking skills. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method, analyzing various scholarly works related to the philosophy of Islamic education, theological sources, and modern learning theories. The findings indicate that the philosophical foundation determines the direction of forming the concept of insan kamil based on the principle of tawhid. The theological foundation ensures that the substance of learning is grounded in the Qur’an and Hadith, while the pedagogical foundation provides systematic, contextual, and student-centered learning strategies. The integration of these three foundations produces a transformative model of Islamic Religious Education learning that is adaptive to contemporary dynamics while remaining firmly rooted in divine values. Therefore, the synergy of philosophical, theological, and pedagogical foundations becomes a strategic basis for developing Islamic Religious Education learning that is relevant, humanistic, and sustainable.
