Abstract

This article discusses the application of Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) in thecontext of learning systems aimed at improving the effectiveness of studentlearning processes. Introduced by John Sweller in the late 1980s, the theoryexplains that each individual has a limited capacity to process information. Therefore, it is crucial to manage cognitive load to enable students to learnoptimally. CLT identifies three types of cognitive load: intrinsic load, which isrelated to the complexity of the material; extraneous load, which arises from themethod of presenting information; and germane load, which is related to themental effort that supports the learning process. The application of this theory ineducational practice involves designing instructional materials and learningstrategies that consider students' mental capacities. By avoiding excessiveinformation delivery, using visual aids that support understanding, and organizinginformation effectively, students can focus more on processing relevantinformation. This study employs a literature review method to gather informationfrom various sources related to the implementation of CLT in education. Theresearch concludes that the application of CLT can enhance students'understanding and retention of information. However, challenges in itsimplementation include the need to adjust the material according to students'readiness levels and educators' deep understanding of effective instructionaldesign. In conclusion, the application of CLT is critical for creating a more efficientand effective learning experience.

Abstract

Early school childhood (6-12 years) is a crucial period for children's physical, psychological and cognitive development. Children experience an increase in physical strength, social maturity, and independence, and begin to develop a sense of responsibility and critical thinking skills. Elementary school childhood (6-12 years) is a period of very significant development in various aspects of physical, motor, cognitive, social, emotional, language, and moral. The method used in this research is literature, the data source is from books, articles, websites, then analyzed to draw conclusions. The results show that at this age, children show improvements in gross motor skills, more complex language abilities, as well as more mature cognitive development, including logical thinking. They also begin to develop social skills and a deeper understanding of emotions and social norms. In addition, the results obtained from this study are that support from the environment, such as parents, teachers and peers, is very important in encouraging children's development. Islamic religious education plays a crucial role in supporting this development, by teaching healthy living habits, strengthening intellectual abilities, and shaping children's social and moral character.

Abstract

Mathematics and culture have a complex and mutually influential relationship. Mathematics is not only a tool for calculation or measurement but also reflects the values, traditions, and ways of thinking of a culture. The relationship between mathematics and culture is closely linked to ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics is the study of how specific cultural groups understand, develop, and use mathematical concepts within their cultural contexts. This concept acknowledges that mathematics is not only a universal scientific discipline but is also influenced by cultural backgrounds, traditions, and social practices. The Saka Tunggal Grand Mosque in Wangon is one of the historically and culturally significant religious sites in Indonesia. Located in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, this mosque is renowned for its distinctive architecture and the spiritual values it embodies. The mosque was built with a design that reflects local wisdom and strong Islamic traditions, making it a symbol of unity and harmony among religious communities. One of the most intriguing aspects of the Saka Tunggal Grand Mosque is its single pillar, which serves as its hallmark, symbolizing strength and unity. This research employs a qualitative approach and an ethnographic method, involving interviews with mosque officials, as well as data collection through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the architecture of the historic Saka Tunggal Grand Mosque in Cikakak, Wangon, not only conveys cultural values, spiritual activities, and history but also contains various mathematical concepts that can be examined through the lens of ethnomathematics. Various geometric shapes can be identified in the structure, such as the trapezoidal shape on the outer roof of the mosque, semicircles and rectangles on the windows and entrance, circles on the drum (bedug), rectangular beams in the building’s structure, and the main rectangular pillar of the Saka Tunggal Grand Mosque in Cikakak, Wangon.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the lack of use of digital learning media so that students' understanding of the Pancasila Education subject matter is still low, causing students' cognitive learning outcomes to be low. The aim of this research is to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes through the use of educaplay-based digital learning media assisted by riddle games in class II Pancasila Education subjects at SDN Kademangan 2, Probolinggo City. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a one group pretest-posttest design. In this research, two measurements were carried out, namely giving a pretest before treatment and a posttest after treatment. Before giving the pretest and posttest, a test instrument test is carried out first which includes a validity test, reliability test, question discrimination test, and question difficulty level test. Based on the research results, the results obtained were that there was a significant increase in students' cognitive learning outcomes which can be seen from the average difference between the pretest and posttest of 19.22. The paired sample t-test produces a sig value. (2-tailed) is 0.000 where the value is smaller than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05) which can be said that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The results of the research show that Educaplay-based digital learning media assisted by Riddle Game in Pancasila Education lessons, the material on recognizing Pancasila symbols, has a significant effect on the cognitive learning outcomes of class II students at SDN Kademangan 2, Probolinggo City.
