Abstract

This study aims to explore Asy-Sya’rawi's view of calamity as a form of test, warning, or Allah's compassion for his servants, as well as how human responses should ideally be formed based on Qur'anic values. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method with text analysis on the tafsir of Asy-Sya’rawi's, a prominent mufassir known for his in-depth approach to the meanings of the Al-Qur'an. The results show that Asy-Syarawi's interpretation offers a holistic explanation of calamity, which is not only seen as a negative event but also as a means of introspection and spiritual quality improvement. In the modern era, this concept is relevant to building a resilient attitude, maintaining emotional balance, and strengthening social solidarity in the midst of various challenges such as natural disasters, pandemics, and global crises. This study also underlines the importance of implementing Qur'anic values in dealing with disasters, including patience, tawakal, and optimism. Thus, Asy-Syarawi's tafsir makes a significant contribution in offering a Qur'anic perspective that is contextual and applicable to dealing with disasters in the modern era. This research provides new insights by highlighting the understanding of calamity through Asy-Syarawi's interpretation which emphasises that calamity is not only a test or punishment, but also a form of God's love to educate humans. Different from previous studies that often focus on theological or social aspects separately, this research combines both to provide a more complete view. Tafsir Asy-Syarawi's emphasises the importance of patience, tawakkala and introspection in dealing with disasters, as well as their relevance in the modern era in overcoming challenges such as pandemics, natural disasters and social crises. This research offers practical Qur'anic-based solutions to help individuals and communities face disasters with a more resilient and optimistic attitude.

Abstract

Radicalism and religious extremism have become global issues that pose significant challenges to the world of education, especially in the context of Islam. Islamic education is one of the most effective tools to counter radicalism. However, an overly rigid and dogmatic approach to education can sometimes exacerbate the problem. This study aims to build a hadith-based curriculum as a foundation for deradicalization. This study uses a qualitative method with descriptive-analytic data analysis techniques. The study’s results indicate several hadiths that, if integrated into the Islamic education curriculum, can strengthen the values of peace, and tolerance, and prevent radicalism. Implementing these hadiths in educational materials can provide a more balanced understanding of religion and foster critical attitudes and tolerance among students. Effective implementation requires the selection of relevant hadiths, contextual interpretation, development of teaching materials, and good teacher training. This study is expected to provide specific benefits for educational institutions in designing a curriculum that functions as an instrument for deradicalization based on religious teachings. Thus, this study contributes to creating a generation that is moral, tolerant, and able to face global challenges without losing its moderate religious identity.

Abstract

The practice of forced marriage that is cultured in society has many negative effects, one of which is that women are a group that is vulnerable to various forms of domestic violence, both physically, psychologically, sexually, and economically. Criminal law is expected to overcome the high rate of domestic violence that occurs due to forced marriage. In the case of forced marriage, criminal law is important in anticipation of domestic violence. The focus of this research is how forcing marriage as a criminal act uses the theory of dzari'ah. The factors that affect the occurrence of forced marriage are patriarchal culture and ideology that are socialized in society. In the patrilineal system, marriage is often a tool to strengthen inter-clan or family relationships. The correlation between forced marriage and the right of ijbar wali shows that the practice of forced marriage in the community is also greatly influenced by the right of ijbar wali. The criminalization of forced marriage has been by dzari'ah, in practice there is a certain motivation from the perpetrator of coercion to make the victim forced to carry out marriage on the one hand, and on the other hand, the consequences arising from the marriage on which one of the spouses is forced to carry out the marriage. The TPKS Law has translated the basic values of Grundnorm into daily legal practice. This shows how the implementing norm expresses Grundnorm's values through concrete legal sanctions that are in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to protect citizens.

Abstract

Prophet Muhammad was a perfect person in all things. His character, attitude, and intellectuality cannot be determined by anyone. Because of his profession, he received the title of Al-Amin, because of his morality he was known as a person with noble character and an example, and because of his intelligence, he could master language intelligence, arithmetic, memorization, visual intelligence, vision intelligence, and intelligence in solving problems. But behind all that, Prophet Muhammad was known as an ummi, meaning he could not read and write. Is a perfect person worthy of having an ummi personality? This study aims to explain the concept of the ummi of the Prophet Muhammad by observing the epistemology of Burhani Muhammad Abed Al-Jabiri. It is hoped that later it can produce a conclusion that successfully recontextualizes the meaning of ummi so that the existence of the Prophet Muhammad is truly very important. His greatness and glory can factually fulfill the four mandatory characteristics of the apostle. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach that is library-based and the data analysis used is descriptive. The results of this study indicate that the existence of the Prophet Muhammad as an ummi is that he did not know and understand the contents of the Bible at all. However, the revelation of the Qur'an that he received had many similarities in content, such as previous stories. The results of this conclusion then became a re-contextualization of the meaning of ummi, because if until now ummi is still interpreted as illiterate, it does not change that the Prophet Muhammad was stupid and backward and contradicts one of the mandatory characteristics that must be possessed by a Messenger, namely fathanah (intelligent).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Islamic digital content on the political participation of Muslim millennials in Medan and the factors that influence this influence, as well as to provide insight into the dynamics of politics among the young generation of Muslims. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques including interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Primary data was obtained directly from respondents who are Muslim millennials in Medan, while secondary data came from various relevant literature. The research design applied was a case study with a focus on Medan. Based on the results of the study, Islamic digital content plays a significant role in increasing the political participation of Muslim millennials in Medan. Muslim millennials become more sensitive to political issues after being exposed to digital content that discusses political and social aspects from an Islamic perspective. Content that emphasizes social justice, fair leadership, and participation in elections encourages them to be more active in politics, seeing it as part of the Islamic values that they uphold. Religious figures and Muslim influencers on social media play a significant role in conveying political messages wrapped in religious values. Social media also facilitates access to political information, informing Muslim millennials about current issues. It is critical to ensure that the content disseminated is accurate, unbiased, and supports healthy democratic values

Abstract

Islamic religion teachers act as educators who not only teach religious materials, but also shape students' characters. This study aims to explore the role of Islamic religion teachers in overcoming students' egocentrism in madrasah. Egocentrism, which is characterized by excessive focus on oneself, can hinder students' social interaction and character development. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects involved religion teachers, students, and parents at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ibrahimy Sukoerjo, Situbondo, East Java. The results showed that religion teachers have an important role in instilling moral and ethical values through interactive teaching methods. The strategies applied include example-based learning, group discussions, and social activities that prioritize empathy and cooperation. In addition, parental support and a positive school culture contribute significantly to reducing students' egocentrism. However, challenges such as a lack of training for teachers and academic pressures remain limiting factors. The findings emphasize the importance of collaboration between teachers, parents and the community in creating a learning environment that supports students' character development. This research is expected to provide insights for the development of more effective educational programs in shaping empathic and social attitudes among madrasah students.

Abstract

The issues of religious freedom and interreligious relations have been extensively debated. While the emergence of new theories and views often leads to the destruction of religious identity, in fact, tolerance and freedom lead to a strong religious identity. The Ottoman Turkish Empire, which once oversaw a third of the world's territory, presented a system that regulated existing differences. The system, named the Ottoman millet system, allegorized its people into religious communities to make it easier for religious believers to express their religious identity. The purpose of this study is to reveal the relevance of the system to the form of interreligious dialogue and harmony that occurs in the lives of religious communities. To reveal the answer fot this research question, the researcher used the content analysis method and the qualitative-phenomenological approach by looking at the object of research based on the phenomenon of how people under the Islamic rule of Ottoman Turkey as the subject of research could coexist despite coming from different nations and religions. The result found that the Ottoman millet system was implemented successfully because of the agreement of two elements in the state, namely its citizens in carrying out their obligations and the government that gave them their citizenship rights. The level of religiosity is one of the critical factors in applying this system in that era because of a deep understanding of tolerance between religious communities.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the Islamic life behind the palace walls in the Babad Tanah Jawi by R.Ng. Yasadipura I. In all historical studies on the 'Islamization of Java', the Babad Tanah Jawi is almost always quoted, because this text tells a lot about the transition of palace power, the involvement of the guardians, to the court's conspiracy with the Dutch. This study aims to explore one aspect that according to the author, Babad Tanah Jawi researchers rarely take, namely aesthetic politics. R.Ng. Yasadipura I can be said to be a political subject, because he has a long and intimate history with Islam on the one hand, but he lives in the great tradition of Javanese royalty on the other. He was a court servant who was asked to write about the greatness of Javanese kings on the one hand, but he was also known as a poet who was subversive to the kingdom on the other. He lived in the circle of the great Mataram Pakubuwana IV kingdom, but he was also a descendant of Jaka Tingkir whose story was 'marginal' in the historiography of Mataram and Demak. That is, R.Ng. Yasadipura I refuses to be identified in a particular social class. It is 'political' because he is able to migrate from one social class to another.

Abstract

Frugal living, or a frugal lifestyle, embodies a concept that coincides with Islamic financial principles, emphasising equilibrium, sustainability, and the avoidance of excessive consumerism. The concept of frugal living has gained increasing relevance in modern economic discourse, particularly in response to financial instability, environmental concerns, and the need for responsible resource management. In the digital age, the payment system utilising the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) has gained prominence as a tool for facilitating more efficient and transparent financial transactions.  This study examines how the use of QRIS within the Islamic financial framework can enhance ethical consumption practices aligned with the tenets of frugal living.  This research, employing a qualitative methodology through literature analysis, determined that QRIS effectively diminishes cash utilisation, which may foster impulsive spending, enhances precise financial documentation, and reinforces Sharia financial principles such as justice, transparency, and sustainability.  This approach promotes more inclusive and efficient transactions, aligning with the maqashid shariah objectives of preserving individual and societal welfare.  This research suggests that the digitalisation of Islamic finance via QRIS can serve as a strategic tool for fostering more ethical and responsible consumer practices.
