Abstract

First aid is essential for accident victims that can happen anywhere, including at school. This community service activity aims to increase student's knowledge, awareness, and skills in providing first aid to accident victims (P3K), especially in schools. P3K educational activities use lectures, discussions, leaflets, and demonstrations. The training participants were 35 SMPN 5 Meurebo Peunaga Ujong, West Aceh Regency students. The material presented includes essential life support, first aid for poisoning, choking, and allergies, wound care, and evacuation of accident victims. The demonstration was presented using audio-visual media, and this community service activity was evaluated using questionnaires given at the beginning and end of the activity. The results of this service activity showed that before P3K education was given, 71% of students had insufficient knowledge, and 29% had medium knowledge. After being given P3K education and demonstration, there was an increase in knowledge; namely, 34% of students had moderate knowledge, and 66% were highly knowledgeable. P3K education for students of SMPN 5 Meurebo Peunaga Ujong, West Aceh Regency, can improve students' knowledge and skills in performing first aid. Junior high school children are expected to act as first responders for victims of accidents that occur at school.

Abstract

Desain grafis merupakan sarana untuk berkomunikasi melalui visual dalam wujud dua dimensi atapun tiga dimensi yang melibatkan prinsip-prinsip estetika. Untuk membuat karya desain bisa menggunakan Photoshop yang merupakan salah satu software yang sering digunakan desainer grafis. Penggunaan software ini sangat positif karena dapat memfasilitasi desainer menghasilkan mahakarya desain grafis buah dari pemikirannya sendiri. Photoshop tidak hanya bisa digunakan untuk pembuatan stempel, tetapi juga poster, spanduk, logo, dan jenis desain grafis lainnya. Pengabdian di sini dilakukan mengusung metode pendidikan dan pelatihan dengan instrumen ukur keberhasilannya adalah pre-test dan post-test. Sementara tahapan yang ditempuh mengikuti rentetan POAC Terry dengan mengadopsi ATM sebagai tekniknya. Adapun tujuan yang diharapkan adalah dapat mengetahui dan membekali pemahaman serta keahlian Zoomer di SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Meulaboh dalam penguasaan software Photoshop guna menghasilkan produk desain grafis. Temuan dan hasil evaluasi yang tim peroleh selama pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa Zoomer di sekolah tersebut memiliki ketertarikan terhadap desain grafis dengan menunjukkan antutiasme dalam mendengarkan materi yang dipaparkan dan dipraktikkan. Namun juga didapati sebagian Zoomer kurang aktif saat diskusi dan beberapa mengalami kebingungan karena belum pernah adanya sosialisasi dan pelatihan desain grafis yang dilakukan sebelumnya. Oleh karenanya, tim merekomendasi agar instens memberikan pendidikan dan pelatihan kepada mereka agar pengetahuan dan keterampilannya tumbuh.

Abstract

Indonesia has significant potential for driving transformation in social, cultural, and economic aspects with its numerous villages and urban communities. The number of tourist villages has grown from 1,302 in 2014 to 1,734 in 2018, indicating their evolution. However, villages still need to recognize the untapped potential and underutilized infrastructure that can be utilized for progress. The UNISBANK Semarang community engagement initiative seeks to empower villages, such as the Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Lestari Barokah in Tegal Selatan, Kota Tegal. The project aims to boost local inspiration and aspirations while supporting the creation of Lontrong Anggur, a rural tourism initiative. The project divides into three main phases: enhancing skills and assistance, ongoing evaluation of Lontrong Anggur's advancement, and optimizing local resources. The project has facilitated the identification and optimization of local potential in KWT Lestari Barokah and similar villages. This has led to the development of ventures such as oyster mushroom cultivation, vegetable farming, and Arabian chicken breeding. Additionally, it has supported the establishment of Lontrong Anggur. This initiative aims to improve the self-sufficiency and overall growth of villages in economic, social, and cultural aspects.

Abstract

Training on making planting media for polybags was held in Sanggrahan, Wonorejo, Gondangrejo, Karanyanyar, and Central Java. The activity was held on June 3, 2023, and was attended by women from PKK RT 05 RW 18. The characteristic of Sanggrahan is almost the same as that of other urban areas, namely the lack of land for cultivating plants. The aim of this activity is to provide insight to PKK women about urban agriculture so that the remaining land in urban areas can still be cultivated using a polybag system. Residents can manage small areas of land to grow vegetable crops so that they can reduce their daily household expenditure on vegetables. To produce optimal plant growth, cultivation in polybags requires appropriate planting media that are easy for residents to make. The method of service activities involves providing material counseling and practical training on making planting media for polybags. We train participants on using easily available materials to create planting media. The materials used to make planting media are humus soil, compost, and husk charcoal in a ratio of 1:1:1. All ingredients are mixed evenly, then put into a polybag. Vegetable seeds that are ready to plant are put into polybags, and then regular maintenance is carried out so that they grow optimally. The size of the polybag varies depending on the type of plant being planted. To support the success and sustainability of this activity, regular evaluation and monitoring are carried out. The aim of this community service is that residents can meet their household vegetable needs by making planting media that is easy to obtain in polybags.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the finding of community engagement of IIQ An Nur in the coastal women's group (KWP) Kukup Beach Yogyakarta in order to that they have economic resilience through halal certification training. Economic resilience for coastal communities has become a necessity, not just a wish. This is because the life of the coastal community depends on the economic life of the coastal potential and its development. For this reason, it is necessary to provide assistance to coastal communities in developing their environmental potential as well as training in packaging product and halal certification and subsequently they have products with high economic value. The method used in this community engagement is the PRA (participatory rural appraisal) method. The results of the community engagement show that through assistance with financial literacy, product packaging and halal certification, the amount of production and profits for the company can be increased and the marketing reach can be expanded. Apart from that, from the consumer side, there is a feeling of security and stability because the packaging for KWP Pantai Kukup Yogyakarta products looks more attractive and is halal certified.

Abstract

Cadres play a very important role in posyandu activities as one of the monitoring activities for the nutritional status of toddlers. Good knowledge about nutrition and stunting prevention efforts will assist cadres in providing counseling to the community. However, it is not only knowledge about nutrition and stunting. Knowledge about how to fill out the registration book and KMS (Health Card) must also be understood. Where many posyandu cadres in Pitra Village do not understand enough about the procedures for filling in the KMS book (Health Card) which often results in misunderstanding of information about child growth and development. Therefore, this community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in completing registration and KMS (Health Card). The main target for this activity is posyandu cadres in the Pitra Village area, Penebel. Capacity building is carried out through three methods, namely, education, simulation, and mentoring so that cadres can directly practice the knowledge that has been given. Community service activities using education, simulation and mentoring. This method can increase the knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres in completing registration and KMS (Health Card). As a suggestion, there needs to be special training for cadres on how to provide health information through educational media and health promotion.

Abstract

In today's digital age, information advancement has become critical for society's well-being. Misinformation, when disseminated, can have negative impacts and even turn into a disaster for the public. Therefore, it is crucial for reporters and journalists in the media to possess the intelligence to conduct research, analyze, interpret, and deconstruct from a journalistic perspective. This will enable aspiring reporters to effectively utilize media (tools) such as print, electronic, and internet to meet human needs, particularly when navigating the challenges of new media. Therefore, the goal of this training program for aspiring reporters is to equip communication science students with the skills necessary to become creative and innovative writers who can effectively convey information to the public. The benefits of this training are to produce individual reporters who are capable of providing sharp and critical arguments regarding news and able to absorb information from various public channels. A critical attitude towards issues and emerging problems is needed, handled with wisdom and prudence, not easily swayed by negative opinions. The goal is for aspiring reporters to gain a clear understanding of ideas and concepts through precise, thorough writing, and to possess a brilliant conscience towards the perspective of events. This training utilizes lecture and question-answer methods. As a result, aspiring reporters can generate and convey high-quality writing that conveys information or news about the atmosphere or conditions of events, enabling platform users (media) to understand rumors and news that reporters format and disseminate to a broader audience.

Abstract

In the era of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, COVID-19 screening education is essential for the general public, especially for those who undergo assisted reproductive technology (ART) programs. Understanding the preventive measures and precautions of COVID-19 during the treatment process is necessary. Health care staff must also understand the importance of proper COVID-19 screening and control measures. This educational activity is in the form of a YouTube live streaming program that can be followed by the general public, including infertile couples who want to know about infertility, examination procedures, COVID-19 screening guidelines, and the TRB program. Education about COVID-19 screening can minimize stigma and enhance public confidence in the screening procedures. The results of this educational delivery make the general public, especially couples who will undergo the ART program, ready and have the ability to undergo COVID-19 testing, services, and screening. In addition, by providing education and implementing effective screening, we can work together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure that people receive quality and safe health services.

Abstract

Community service activities are a forum for sharing information to increase public knowledge. This community service is conducted online through seminars using the Zoom meeting application with the theme "Myths and Facts of Diabetes Mellitus and a Balanced Diet for Diabetes Mellitus Patients". This service aims to inform the public about the myths and facts about diabetes mellitus and increase public knowledge regarding proper prevention and control. The participants consisted of health cadres in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, and the general public, totaling 47 people. Material delivery was carried out using lecture methods with PowerPoint presentations, discussion, and questions and answers. The activity results were evaluated using a quasi-experimental design by comparing the pre-test and post-test results of the participants. The data is not normally distributed, so the difference test used is the Wilcoxon test. This community service increased participant knowledge with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05) and increased the average participant knowledge score from 80 ± 16.923 to 90 ± 10.301. This community service activity concludes that the activity can increase community knowledge related to proper prevention and control of diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Bullying has occurred in various types of schools, including Islamic boarding schools. The Al-Amanah Junwangi Modern Islamic Boarding School is no exception. Partners experience two problems: (1) teachers lack knowledge about bullying and its handling; and (2) students engage in bullying. Partners are aware of the dangers of bullying, so there is a need for an anti-bullying program. One solution is to provide knowledge and insight about bullying or anti-bullying lessons. To address the second problem, the solution is to implement anti-bullying lessons directly with students. We implemented the method by using lectures interspersed with questions and answers, discussions, viewing videos, games, case studies, and simulations. There were 46 anti-bullying lesson participants, with details of 16 teachers, 15 Santri, and 15 female students. The results of the implementation showed an increase in understanding about bullying and its impacts by 16% and an increase in practical sessions by 38% among teachers. Meanwhile, students showed an increase in understanding about bullying and its impacts by 19%, and female students by 10%. Other results show that female students are able to demonstrate behavior against bullying completely, while 58% of students are able to demonstrate stay-calm behavior, 33% feel good about you, and 75% don't be quite.
