Abstract

Waste management is a global problem in Indonesia. Salem Village is one of the villages in Brebes Regency where waste management is not optimal. The condition of the increasingly piled up waste without processing creates an unpleasant odor and disturbs the health of the surrounding community. The waste processing carried out is burning the existing waste, which adds to the problem of air pollution. As a result of continuous waste burning, the hangar was also burned. The impact of burning waste is very dangerous because it releases monoxide gas which disturbs public health. The purpose of this program is to provide socialization of waste processing, waste banks, Village Regulations on waste management, waste processing technology based on BSF flies and maggots into exoenzyme products that have economic value. Activity methods include lectures and discussions, training, demonstration plots and mentoring. Socialization to cadres and administrators of Bumdes Bina Usaha Salem Village regarding a) independent waste management and waste bank applications; b) socialization of village regulations (perdes) governing waste management, c) dissemination of information about organic waste processing technology based on BSF maggots and Ecoenzymes. The results of the socialization showed an increase in participants' knowledge about the necessity of business management and group management, village regulations governing waste management, the bioecology of BSF maggots, and the technology of organic waste bioconversion using BSF maggots. The training and demonstration plots provided to partners included preparation for waste processing, ecoenzym production, baby maggot maintenance, organic waste processing techniques with BSF maggots, and prepupa harvesting.  The evaluation of the activity showed that the pre-test scores initially ranged from 25 (5.88%) to 75 (5.88%). After the technology transfer, the post-test scores increased to a range of 60 (5.88%) to 85 (11.77%).  The Community Service Program can realize the independence of the residents of Salem village in managing organic waste.

Abstract

The Vaname Shrimp Cultivation Group of Sindanglaya Village, Cinangka District, Serang Regency - Banten which is currently in the form of a cooperative with the name of the Tunas Harapan Core Producer Cooperative. The urgency of this community-based empowerment activity is the need for an increase in technology, especially in the cultivation of vaname shrimp, the problems that occur in the community based on the results of studies and identification of vaname shrimp farmers are known to be the process of preparing shrimp feed. Where the process of mixing shrimp feed still uses manual methods or using hands so that it is not evenly distributed and takes a long time. The next problem in pond management in the process of checking the quality of water content still uses an uncalibrated pH meter. Problems in other areas related to production management and marketing, shrimp pond managers still use the usual method, not following technological developments. The implementation method follows five stages of community service, namely 1. Socialization, 2. Training, 3. Application of technology, 4. Mentoring and evaluation, 5. Sustainability of the program. The results of the activity showed an increase in technology related to the production process of vaname shrimp cultivation, namely the manufacture of a vaname shrimp feed mixer/mixer machine in Sindanglaya Village and the socialization of the use of vaname shrimp feed mixer/mixer machines for vaname shrimp farming groups in Sindanglaya Village, especially in the Tunas Harapan Core Producer Cooperative. Furthermore, improvements related to marketing management in the Community Empowerment (PKM) program were the implementation of a Workshop on the Development of Production Management and Marketing Management based on information technology and assistance in operating online marketing applications. The conclusion in the production sector was an increase in the number of vaname shrimp harvests and an increase in knowledge related to production and marketing management.

Abstract

Citronella oil produced by the “Gema Industri” farmer group is the only processor of essential oils made from citronella plants (Cymbopogon nardus) in North Central Timor Regency (TTU). The location of this home industry is in Oenenu Village, Bikomi Tengah District and has been carried out since 2000 until now using very simple equipment. Citronella oil distillation activities are carried out twice a week including marketing activities. The demand for citronella oil, especially in TTU Regency, which is adjusted to the purchasing power of the community, is not limited to pure citronella oil, but other products such as mixing several ingredients for medicinal purposes according to local wisdom such as massage oil or for treating toddlers in the form of a mixture of coconut oil and citronella oil in a ratio of 5:1 and other herbal ingredients. The results from the sale of products created by the “Gema Mandiri” farmer group have allowed this farmer group to survive until now. Product marketing is still done manually and relies on acquaintances and regular customers and there have been no more modern marketing breakthroughs such as the use of promotional media and digital marketing. In addition, the packaging of citronella oil is still limited to one size variant (100 ml) and has not been well designed, namely made of transparent plastic that does not meet product safety requirements, on the other hand the labeling is still very simple and does not fully describe the benefits of the product. The purpose of PkM is to help the "Gema Industri" farmer group in increasing market share by improving safer packaging with various volume and presentation variations so that it can increase people's purchasing power. The method used in the PkM activity is carried out in 2 stages, namely lectures and training on the use of packaging and labeling and training in selling via the internet in this case promotion on social media. In this activity, the Community Service Team provided a transfer of IPTEKS on safe essential oil packaging such as the use of dark bottles that protect the product from direct sunlight. The community service team also introduced various forms and presentations of citronella oil with varying sizes starting from 10 ml in the form of a roll on so that it is more practical and affordable for the community, besides that there are other forms that are also practical in their presentation. Various packaging must also be supported by good promotional media, for that the devotion team designed a business leaflet that describes a brief profile of the "Gema Industri" Farmer Group, the steps for making citronella oil and also an introduction to the products produced. With this business leaflet, it is hoped that the Gema Industri Farmer Group will find it easier to promote its products and hopefully it will be better known by the public. Members of the farmer group are also trained on how to promote and sell citronella oil and other citronella oil products via the internet (website and social media) in addition to using the leaflets that are distributed and the participation of the farmer group in exhibitions. The devotion activity on the use of safe packaging for the production of citronella oil at the GEMA INDUSTRI Farmer Group in Oenenu Village has gone well and brought benefits to the group. Citronella oil products are currently packaged in a variety of attractive packaging variations, hopefully it can further increase public interest in using them.

Abstract

Considering skin disorders can now spread through a variety of media, it is crucial for the public to understand skin health issues. Skin conditions are now among the most prevalent illnesses in coastal towns. People who live near the coast are more likely to experience skin health issues. Numerous elements, such as humidity, sun exposure, personal cleanliness, and water quality, contribute to this. The goal of this project is to teach the Minaesa Village community how to make liquid soap from VCO and to educate them about personal hygiene. On-the-job training is the approach used in the PKM. Direct field visits, identifying the partners' issues and requirements, offering solutions, conducting activities to satisfy the partners' needs, and evaluation are all part of this approach. The pH of the VCOLS soap manufactured is 7, which means that it satisfies quality criteria. According to the evaluation's findings, participants' knowledge increased by 86.5%. More than 82.2% of participants expressed pleasure with the VCOLS soap, according to the evaluation of the satisfaction questionnaire about the created soap, while 17.8% expressed no opinion. The findings of the perception survey of the VCOLS soap, on the other hand, indicate that no one itched after using it, 70% thought it was non-greasy, and 67.7% thought it was hydrating. The evaluation's findings indicate that participants' knowledge of skin care and soap-making methods has grown. According to the results of the perception questionnaire, participants have successfully produced liquid soap from VCO that satisfies quality standards. It is also envisaged that the expertise offered, particularly in the creation of liquid soap from VCO, can be further enhanced through the community service activities in Minaesa Village.
