Abstract

Implementing this community service activity aims to answer the needs of MSMEs in the era of the global crisis known as COVID-19. This activity aims to provide practical knowledge and experience regarding financial management, implementing accounting, and other related matters, such as creating basic financial reports for MSMEs. The target participants of this activity are micro, small and medium enterprises, students, and the general public who want to increase their knowledge and insight regarding financial management strategies for business actors. The total number of participants who attended this agenda was 116 from various groups such as business people, professionals, students, and others. The method for implementing this activity is to use a PAR approach in the form of a national seminar through a virtual meeting which presents two resource persons from associations, practitioners and business actors so that they can provide various perspectives and knowledge that can provide future provisions for (potential) business actors. It is hoped that this activity can be a solution for business actors affected by COVID-19 or prospective business actors so that they become more alert and anticipatory in unpredictable economic conditions with high volatility.

Abstract

Small home industry businesses (UKMRT) play a crucial role in the economy by providing income for marginalized families with limited capital. In Kedungkandang, Malang City, UKMRT, especially cassava chip producers, face challenges such as limited equipment, a lack of hygienic production knowledge, and poor financial management. This study employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) to address these issues by engaging the community in problem identification and solution implementation. Training sessions focused on financial management, hygienic production techniques, and marketing strategies. Introducing modern cassava-cutting tools and improved packaging significantly enhanced production efficiency and product appeal. Results indicated increased production capacity, higher product quality, and improved financial practices among partners. The economic impact was evident as daily income for producers increased substantially, and marketing expanded beyond local markets from 200 thousand rupiahs per day to 500 thousand rupiahs. This holistic approach, integrating economic, social, and technological aspects, highlights the potential for significant socio-economic transformation in similar communities. Further geographical expansion and product diversification are recommended to sustain and enhance these positive outcomes. The study demonstrates a replicable model for community service that effectively addresses the multifaceted needs of small home industry businesses.

Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) enables teachers to enhance teaching quality and student achievement. In Tasikmalaya Regency, however, many teachers need help to develop CAR effectively, impacting learning outcomes. To address this, a CAR training program utilizing the POE2WE (Predict, Observe, Explain, Elaborate, Write, Evaluate) model was implemented through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, fostering active teacher engagement. The training, targeting high school teachers in Tasikmalaya, focused on equipping participants to develop high-quality CAR. Results indicated significant improvements in teacher competence, with participants achieving high ratings in critical skills: discussion activity (3.8), prediction formulation (3.7), and self-evaluation (3.9). Over 90% of participants expressed satisfaction with training materials, instructor competency, and the applicability of theory to practice. These findings underscore the value of structured CAR skills enhancement for educational development in Tasikmalaya and beyond, recommending that future programs adopt adaptable models to meet evolving teacher needs in classroom outcomes.Top of Form

Abstract

The problem in several schools is that students experience learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so several generations of students are slowly learning. Apart from that, the 2022 AKM results are less than optimal because not all students are familiar with contextual problems. Therefore, training in designing mathematics learning using the local context of the wetland environment based on RME needs to be implemented. This service aims to develop the ability of teachers of SDI Sabilal Muhtadin to design mathematics learning using the local context of the wetland environment based on RME to increase teachers' understanding and ability to design realistic learning. The method applied in this community service activity uses a PAR (Participatory Action Research) approach. The PAR cycle implemented is To Know, To Understand, To Plan, To Act, and To Change. The service team prepares material and delivers it via an offline workshop, while participants are also allowed to design learning with a local context and based on RME. The service results show an increase in teacher understanding regarding RME-based learning designs in the local context of the wetland environment, which is indicated by an increase in the average score from pre-test to post-test. Apart from that, most teachers have been able to develop mathematics learning plans based on RME in a local context. This is shown by the teacher's work in designing lessons sent to the service team. Thus, this service activity has successfully increased teachers' understanding and abilities in designing realistic learning.
