Abstract

Poetry writing skill is one of the productive learning achievements in Phase E of the Merdeka Curriculum, which is often considered difficult by students due to limitations in imagination and diction. This study aims to describe the improvement of poetry writing skills through Event Card Media among class X students at SMA Negeri 9 Surabaya. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis & McTaggart model conducted in two cycles, comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research sample consisted of 36 students. Data were collected through observation, achievement tests, and documentation, then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that Event Card Media was able to trigger visual imagination, enrich word choices, and increase student active participation. Quantitatively, the students' average poetry writing score increased from an average of 68.83 in Cycle I to an average of 80.22 in Cycle II. Student learning mastery also experienced a significant increase from 22.22% (8 students) to 100% (36 students) meeting the passing criteria (KKM ≥ 75). Thus, the application of Event Card Media is proven to be effective in improving students' poetry writing skills.

Abstract

Supervision of foreign nationals at Indonesia’s immigration checkpoints (TempatPemeriksaan Imigrasi/TPI) is increasingly shifting from reactive, document-basedinspection toward preventive, risk-based detection. This study analyzes the policyframework for the implementation of an early warning system (EWS) in immigrationsupervision at TPI, focusing on its legal basis, technical instruments, andimplementation challenges. The research uses normative legal research with statutoryand conceptual approaches. Data were collected through literature study of laws, ministerial regulations, official policy documents, and accredited scientific journals, andanalyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results show that Indonesia's immigrationEWS rests on an interconnected set of instruments Subject of Interest (SOI), BorderControl Management (BCM), Enhanced Cekal System (ECS), Passenger Analysis Unit(PAU), and the Passenger Profiling Information System (SIPP) integrated within theImmigration Management Information System (SIMKIM) and grounded in Law No. 6 of2011 on Immigration as amended by Law No. 63 of 2024, together with technicalregulations issued by the Directorate General of Immigration. Implementationnevertheless still faces obstacles, including the absence of specific regulation andstandard operating procedures for PAU, limited data interoperability among agencies, uneven officer capacity, and personal data protection concerns. Optimization requiresaccelerating technical regulation, strengthening inter-agency data integration, expanding risk-based technology to more checkpoints, and improving human resourcecompetence so that early warning policy can function effectively as a preventiveinstrument for national security.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning motivation of third-grade students at SDN 38 Sungai Ambawang, as indicated by their lack of enthusiasm, concentration, participation, and persistence in learning activities. This condition requires teacher efforts that are adapted to students’ characteristics and learning needs. This study aimed to describe the efforts made by teachers to improve the learning motivation of third-grade students at SDN 38 Sungai Ambawang. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The primary data were obtained from interviews with the third-grade teacher, while supporting data were obtained through the analysis of teaching modules used in the learning process. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings showed that teachers made various efforts to improve students’ learning motivation through differentiated learning, additional guidance for students who experienced difficulties, challenging tasks for students who had mastered the material, learning activities through games, varied learning methods, the use of interesting learning media, contextual learning, positive reinforcement, and individual guidance. The results showed that these efforts supported students’ participation, enthusiasm, and engagement in the learning process. The implementation of these efforts was also influenced by several obstacles, particularly student distractions and limited learning support from parents. Teachers addressed these obstacles by adapting learning activities to students’ abilities, providing additional guidance, using learning activities that were enjoyable and varied, and providing continuous motivation and positive reinforcement. The implication of this study is that teachers’ pedagogical efforts need to be adapted to students’ characteristics, learning conditions, and individual needs to support the development of learning motivation in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of understanding among fifth-grade students at UPT SDN 8 Pinrang regarding the values of Pancasila. These values had previously been taught primarily through memorization and lecture-based methods, making the learning process less meaningful and less engaging for students. The objective of this study was to improve students' understanding of Pancasila values through the use of stop-motion media and digital mind maps. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 18 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation sheets, learning achievement tests, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings revealed that the average percentage of students' learning activities increased from 68.2% (fair category) in Cycle I to 85.2% (good category) in Cycle II. The average learning achievement score also improved from 71 in Cycle I to 83 in Cycle II, while the learning mastery percentage increased from 67% to 89%, exceeding the predetermined success indicator of 80%. These findings indicate that the integration of stop-motion media and digital mind maps effectively creates a more interactive, concrete, and meaningful learning environment. Therefore, this approach can serve as an alternative instructional strategy for teaching Pancasila and Citizenship Education in elementary schools.
