Abstract

The early 2021 rise in COVID-19 cases, as well as the advent of novel types due to mutations, tightened social activities. To avoid transmission of the virus between pregnant women, health workers, and other visitors, service adjustments are required to assist pregnant women in doing prenatal checkups. Every day at home, efforts to maintain the maternal can be made, including normal physical activity and managing dietary intake. To boost pregnant women's understanding, community service activities such as counseling on antenatal care, physical exercise, and particular dietary intake are carried out. In total, 92 expectant mothers took part in webinars. Prior to the webinar, a pretest was used to measure initial knowledge; the average result was in the "Good" category. The activity went off without a hitch, and the attendees were eager to ask questions. The post-test score increased to the "Very Good" level, according to the evaluation data. This webinar activity will help pregnant women gain a better understanding of how to stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Anemia is a medical problem that occurs throughout the world, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. One type of anemia that is often asymptomatic (silent anemia) is iron deficiency anemia, which mostly occurs in the productive age group. This condition in addition to causing a decrease in work productivity also affects the body's immunity which is very important in the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this activity was to determine the pattern of anemia and the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in health workers who work in the COVID-19 infection service room who are at high risk for infection if they have a weak immune system. The results showed that 11 people (14.47%) of health workers had absolute or relative iron deficiency anemia. Although this figure is relatively lower than the national average, the management of this condition is very important because it is related to the services that will be provided to the community.

Abstract

. Osteoporosis is a worldwide health issue. The microarchitecture of the bone is deteriorating, which increases the risk of fracture and disability. As the Indonesian people's life expectancy increases, the incidence of osteoporosis rises, making it more difficult to manage. This community service is carried out as a form of preventive treatment in the adult community in the village of Ibul Besar III Pemulutan Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, which is one of Sriwijaya University's guided villages, with counseling methods to increase knowledge and health checks for early detection of osteoporosis, as well as calcium supplementation. There were 81 participants in this activity, with numerous dominant risk factors for osteoporosis identified, including female gender, menopausal state, and age above 50. Musculoskeletal symptoms, such as pain in the waist and back, which can be a consequence of osteoporosis, are more common than non-musculoskeletal symptoms.

Abstract

Pregnant women as one of the groups vulnerable to COVID-19 infection are advised to stay at home and reduce face-to-face social contact so that they are at risk of reducing physical activity. These lifestyle changes are associated with an increased risk of depression, anxiety, maternal obesity, and various other pregnancy complications such as Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Preeclampsia, and Low Back Pain. Providing education and assistance as well as empowering pregnant women to do physical exercise regularly is the right strategy to change the pattern of physical activity in order to improve health status during the adaptation period to new habits. This community service activity was carried out to 56 pregnant women in the city of Palembang in the form of providing regular counseling and education. The activity is also accompanied by assistance efforts so that pregnant women can do regular physical exercise for 1 month. The assessment of the success of this community service was carried out by assessing the increase in participants' knowledge before and after the activity, the achievement of the frequency target for all participants during the training session, and also a questionnaire on the benefits of regular physical exercise. The results of the assessment with the questionnaire showed an increase in the average knowledge before and after undergoing the educational program. From this community service activity, it can be concluded that counseling and mentoring activities can be carried out to increase the knowledge and habituation of pregnant women in doing physical exercise, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is still the second biggest cause of mortality in women in Indonesia. Pap Smear cytology can detect precancerous lesions as precursor lesions early. Every married woman should have a Pap Smear examination done on a regular basis. If precancerous lesions are discovered, they must be treated immediately so that they do not proceed to cervical cancer. Counseling and Pap Smear Examination will be used to carry out the activity, which is aimed at all married women. The goal of this activity is to raise public awareness about the necessity of early cervical cancer screening and Pap Smear examination for early diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions. Pre-test and post-test assessments were used to establish the degree of knowledge of participants. Counseling and examination activities was place four times in September-October 2021, at the Gandus Health Center and the practice of midwife Hj. Nani. This community service has attracted 130 counseling participants. Participants' understanding of the importance of early identification of cervical cancer increased from a score of 75.57 to 89.28 as a result of the pretest and post-test counseling outcomes. According to the Pap Smear diagnostic results, the majority of patients had non-specific chronic cervicitis, which was classified as Negative for Intraepithelial Lesion or Malignancy (NILM). Cervical cancer can be prevented with counseling and early detection.

Abstract

Indonesia is currently facing a double burden of diseases, namely Communicable Diseases (PM) and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) which are strongly influenced by changes in the environment, community behavior, demographic transition, technology, economy, and socio-culture. To overcome this problem, the government has intensified the Program Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS), which should involve all elements of society, stakeholders, the private sector, academia, and non-governmental organization (NGOs) and other sectors. The role of young people is needed by the government in the process of sustainable development or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of this activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness, especially among members of the Youth Posyandu Mojo Gubeng Surabaya about the importance of clean and healthy living behavior. This service activity was carried out on Saturday 11 September 2021, attended by 26 participants. This community service activity was chosen in the form of an online seminar (webinar) to support the government in handling COVID-19 by implementing Emergency PPKM. Measurement of the increase in participants' knowledge was carried out through pre-test and post-test by answering questions related to the webinar material by filling out Google Forms. The measurement results obtained a pre-test average and post-test average value (82.1±18) with a delta value (change in score) of 18.6. Community Service Activities through a Webinar with the title "The Importance of Healthy Lifestyle Behavior at the Youth Posyandu Mojo Gubeng Surabaya" can increase public knowledge at the Mojo Youth Posyandu Surabaya.

Abstract

Breastmilk is the healthiest diet for infants since it includes all the nutrients they require in the right quantity and composition. The production of a tiny amount of breast milk on the first day after delivery is one of the initial hurdles to breastfeeding. Oxytocin massage is one technique for facilitating the release of breast milk. This movement is performed along the spine (vertebrae) to the fifth and sixth ribs. This massage assists to stimulate the hormone oxytocin, which can relax the mother and facilitate the release of breast milk. The purpose of this community service activity was to promote postpartum mothers' knowledge about oxytocin massage. This program was attended by fifteen postpartum mothers from the independent midwife practice of Husniati Palembang. The average findings of the pre-test (40.5%) and post-test (84%) indicate an increase in knowledge scores as a result of this practical education activity. In conclusion, postpartum mothers were becoming more knowledgeable about oxytocin massage therapy. Health education is supposed to be provided continually as part of this service.

Abstract

The degenerative disease occurs because of a reduction in the body’s organs’ function. Generally, it occurs in the elderly but nowadays younger people in their productive age also could experience the disease. It can be detected through regular medical checks and the prevention of risk factors. Regular Health Check-ups requires self-awareness, but not everyone is aware to do so. Community service activities with village lecture schemes for degenerative disease dietetic courses were attended by 25 students. Community service activities aimed at increasing public awareness of degenerative diseases by screening and nutritional counseling regularly, namely 3 points of time measurements in 30 days. Measurements were conducted on body composition, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels. The results are used as reference data for eating management during counseling. There were 53 residents who voluntarily participated. The activity was carried out in Kelurahan 13 Ulu in the Bingen Culinary Village, which is a study program fostered village. The results showed an improvement where 36 people who had hypertension at the initial examination (65.5 %) has decreased to 30 people (54.5 %), high cholesterol levels at the initial examination were 20 people (36.3 %) to 9 people (16.3 %), overweight 40 people (72.7 %) to 39 people (70.0 %). It could be happened because of respondents’ awareness of their initial results supported by their understanding of the importance of eating management based on their health check results.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem caused by multiple factors and is intergenerational. The incidence of stunting shows the problem of chronic malnutrition and occurs at the age of toddlers. Monitoring the growth of children under five is very important to detect growth faltering at an early stage. To determine this growth, weighing toddlers every month is very necessary. Anthropometric measurements are usually carried out by cadres at the Posyandu. However, the cadres cannot monitor the growth of toddlers either through anthropometric measurements (weight and height) or by filling out the KMS. This is because most of the cadres have never received training on anthropometric measurements and filling in the KMS. The results of this activity showed that most of the cadres experienced an increase in scores before and after the training, namely an increase in nutritional knowledge (54.3%), anthropometric measurements (78.2%), and KMS filling (58.7%). Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test showing a p value of 0.000 < 0.005, there is a difference in knowledge scores before and after the intervention, both knowledge of nutrition, anthropometric measurements of toddlers and filling KMS increases. It can be concluded that this cadre training activity was quite successful, seen from the results of the frequency distribution obtained and the results of statistical tests. It is necessary to carry out regular training related to monitoring the growth and reading of KMS, especially if there is a change of cadres.
