Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of numeracy literacy and mathematical self-efficacy of students in learning mathematics. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach conducted at SMPN 34. The research instruments used are numeracy literacy test questions and self-efficacy questionnaires that have met the criteria for good instrument feasibility. The data analysis technique used is Descriptive Analysis. The results showed that overall the numeracy literacy skills of the students included in the criteria were not good. There are 73.30% or 20 people of the total number of students who have not been able to solve the numeracy literacy test questions correctly. Furthermore, the overall mathematical self-efficacy of students is included in the moderate criteria with a percentage of 70% or 21 students. Next for numeracy literacy skills in terms of mathematical self-efficacy (high, medium, and low), each has different numeracy literacy skills. Students whose self-efficacy is high, have good numeracy literacy skills, while students whose self-efficacy is moderate and low, have poor numeracy literacy skills. From the results of this study, it is necessary to research to improve the numeracy literacy skills and mathematical self-efficacy of students at SMPN 34 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop the use of interactive multimedia learning in vocational schools in Indonesia. This learning media was used on material about diagnosing computer and peripheral operation problems and was developed by using the Instructional Development Institute (IDI) development method. This method included the following stages of the procedure: define, develop, and evaluate. Furthermore, the subject of this study was the first-grade students in SMK N 1 Hiliran Gumanti. The result showed that 1) The development of learning media based on interactive multimedia was considered valid based on the content by 5 experts of 91.80%; 2) Based on the responses of 28 students, interactive multimedia learning was proved to be more practical by 85.25%; 3) The use of effective multimedia learning improved student learning outcomes showed by an incline on students’ scores from 42.1% to 84.21%. Briefly, the development of interactive multimedia learning has proved to be valid, practical, and effective. This media learning can be used to enhance student learning outcomes related to the material about diagnosing computer and peripheral operation problems in the vocational school.

Abstract

The Rasch Model is a very useful tool in testing the quality of a measurement instrument, including mathematics tests. The Rasch model is part of item response theory which can classify item and person calculations in one distribution map. This research analyzes research trends regarding Rasch models in mathematics instruments, using bibliometric analysis to understand the current state of research in this field. From the analysis obtained, it can be said that publications regarding Rasch models in mathematical instruments have increased rapidly from 1983 to 2023, with a total of 173 articles. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia holds the highest affiliation with 13 articles. The Journal of Applied Measurement is the most prolific publication with 10 articles and 113 citations. Printy (2008) and Clements et al., (2008) are the sources with the most total citations, namely 139 citations. Azrilah Abdul Aziz, Clelia Cascella, Chiara GIBERTI, and Azami Zaharim are the authors with the largest number of articles discussing Rasch models in mathematical instruments with 4 articles. New themes that emerge in this analysis are mathematics education, engineering education, validity, reliability, gender, and differential item functioning so that future researchers can consider the keywords above

Abstract

Ongoing advancements have profoundly reshaped the development of educational media, with validity being a pivotal factor in creating high-quality products, representing a critical phase in their development. In essence, validity holds a key position in the production of superior educational materials. The primary objective of this study is to design and assess the validity of interactive multimedia-based mathematics learning tools using Adobe Flash CS6. This research belongs to the category of Research and Development (R&D) or developmental research. The methodology adopted for this developmental research follows a modified Plomp procedure, involving three of its five stages: the initial investigation phase, the development phase or prototyping, and the assessment phase. To gauge the validity of the media, the research employs a validation sheet as the data collection instrument. The analysis process entails scoring based on assessments made by the validator. The outcomes of the validation testing indicate that the media is deemed highly valid, achieving an impressive validation rate of 90.59%. The media is now deemed ready for use with only minor revisions required. One notable advantage of this learning media is its compact size, ensuring compatibility with all computer types, including those with low specifications.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' creative thinking skills in mathematics. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research. The population in this study were junior high school level students in Bengkalis Regency, Riau while the sample was 59 students in the Bathin Solapan District and 50 students from the Bandar Laksamana sub-district. The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling. The data collection technique in this study was a survey using a questionnaire instrument. Before the instrument is used, the instrument in the form of a questionnaire is validated in terms of content and construct. In terms of content, validity analysis uses the Aiken formula and CFA First Order, while construct validity uses CFA Second Order. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics. The results obtained from the analysis of students' creative thinking abilities in mathematics at the junior high school level show that the indicators of Elaboration, Flexibility, Originality, and Fluency in students' creative thinking abilities, obtain a good category percentage of 22.02% and a bad category of 77.98% .

Abstract

Students' low interest in learning creates challenges in the learning process, where a lack of motivation reduces students' active participation in teaching and learning activities. Therefore, it is essential to identify strategies that can increase students' interest in learning so that they are enthusiastic about participating in learning. This research aims to overcome the low learning outcomes of the Theme 1 Subtheme "My Daily Tasks at School" by applying the Problem-Based Learning model in class II at SDN 147 Pekanbaru. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with four main stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection, carried out in 2 cycles, each consisting of 2 meetings. Data collection techniques include observation, tests, documentation, and quantitative and qualitative data processing. The research results show that applying the PBL model has improved student learning outcomes. In the pre-cycle, only eight students, or 31%, achieved completeness, then this increased to 18 students, or the equivalent of 69% in cycle I, and in cycle II, it reached 26 students or 100% completion.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' self-efficacy regarding mathematics learning outcomes. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research. The population in this study were junior high school students in Pekanbaru City, with the sample consisting of 49 students from SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru and SMP Negeri 34 Pekanbaru consisting of 53 students. The sampling technique in this research was simple random sampling. The data collection technique in this research was carried out by survey using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics. The results obtained from the analysis of students' self-efficacy regarding mathematics learning outcomes are in the not good category with a percentage of 55%, and 45% are in the good category. The evaluation results show that the self-efficacy of students at SMP Negeri 25 Pekanbaru and SMP Negeri 34 Pekanbaru regarding mathematics learning outcomes is in the not-good category. Teachers should play a more active role as companions, mentors, directors, and motivators in mathematics learning. With this, students will feel confident in their ability to solve mathematical problems in learning materials that are considered difficult, which will further increase students' self-efficacy regarding mathematics learning outcomes.
