Abstract

Financial management plays an important role in promoting independence and prosperity in communities, especially in rural areas where economic resources are often limited. This paper explores the importance of community financial management training as a catalyst for creating independent and prosperous villages. By equipping community members with important financial literacy skills, such as budgeting, savings, and investment strategies, villages can better manage their resources and increase their economic stability. This training focuses on empowering community leaders and residents to understand basic financial concepts and implement sustainable financial practices adapted to their local context. Through workshops, seminars, and practical exercises, participants learn to develop financial plans, identify potential sources of income, and reduce financial risks. In addition, this training emphasizes the importance of transparent financial governance and accountability to build trust and cooperation within the community. In addition, case studies and success stories from similar initiatives show the positive impact of financial management training on village development. These examples illustrate how better financial decision making can lead to increased household income, better infrastructure development, and higher social welfare. Ultimately, the goal is to create self-sufficient villages that can develop independently by utilizing their resources effectively and responsibly.

Abstract

Waste management has become a significant challenge in modern times due to rapid population growth, urbanization, and changing lifestyles, resulting in a substantial increase in waste volume. One approach to address this issue is the establishment of waste banks. Bunga Raya Waste Bank, located in the RT. 03/RW. 11, Dusun I, Purbayan, Baki Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java 57556, is an exemplary waste bank that plays a crucial role in waste management in the region. In addition to waste management, Bunga Raya Waste Bank has introduced empowerment programs through the production and marketing of handicrafts made from recycled materials. Economic empowerment through handicrafts production has the potential to offer a sustainable solution to reduce the negative environmental impact of waste while improving the livelihoods of the local community. Handicrafts made from recycled materials have shown great potential in creating local employment opportunities and supporting the community's economy. Moreover, they can serve as a tool to enhance environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices. However, to optimize this potential, a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by Bunga Raya Waste Bank in empowering handicraft production and marketing activities is required. In this context, this research aims to further investigate Bunga Raya Waste Bank's efforts in harnessing the potential of handicrafts made from recycled materials as a tool for community economic empowerment. We will analyze aspects such as the production process, marketing strategies, social and economic impacts, and challenges faced by this waste bank in implementing the program.

Abstract

Used clothing is one of the sources of waste in Bantul Regency. Without proper management, this type of waste can harm the environment. One concrete example can be seen in RT1 of Dongkelan Hamlet, where the accumulation of used clothing waste occurred due to the community's lack of understanding of its environmental impact and economic potential. To address this, a comprehensive outreach program was initiated to increase community awareness and understanding. The program was divided into four stages: observation, outreach, practice, and evaluation. Before the outreach, participants showed minimal understanding of used clothing waste, with an average score of 75%, which falls into the "less" category. However, after attending the outreach, their understanding improved significantly, especially regarding the impacts and benefits of used clothing waste and how to make flower pots. Interestingly, of all the participants, 60% were interested in putting this new knowledge into practice, while the remaining 40% chose other methods, citing hassle and other reasons. In conclusion, this outreach program proved effective and is recommended to be implemented in other locations to support environmental sustainability and potential income generation.
