Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping national civilization and character, particularly in Muslim-majority countries such as Indonesia, where it forms an integral part of the national education system. Beyond its function as a vehicle for knowledge transmission, Islamic education serves as a foundation for moral and ethical development rooted in Islamic values. In the era of globalization and rapid technological advancement, the adaptability of Islamic education becomes increasingly vital especially as mass media emerges as a powerful force in influencing public perception of related policies. This study explores how Islamic education policies are portrayed in the mass media, the extent to which such portrayals shape public opinion, and the patterns of framing and bias that may be present in media coverage. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, the research draws on a range of sources including books, academic journals, news articles, and digital publications. The findings reveal that mass media significantly influence public attitudes toward Islamic education policy through agenda-setting and framing techniques. While mainstream media often align with government narratives, alternative media tend to highlight critical perspectives, including concerns about the potential secularization of Islamic education. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for more inclusive and transparent communication strategies involving collaboration among policymakers, scholars, and media practitioners to foster a more informed and balanced public discourse.

Abstract

Smoking behavior is a reprehensible behavior that impacts physical, mental, and spiritual health, the increasing number of smokers at an early age, especially early adolescence, namely junior high school students, is a concern for the education of the younger generation. This study aims to analyze smoking behavior in junior high school students and examine the appropriate Islamic guidance and counseling strategies in addressing student smoking behavior in schools. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving junior high school students who have smoking behavior, guidance and counseling teachers and parents. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results of the study identified two main problem formulations: first, the phenomenon of smoking behavior in junior high school students in Yogyakarta. The percentage of students who smoke is concerning, the beginning of smoking at a very young age, the influence of parents and peers on smoking behavior that is associated with modeling theory and self-efficacy theory. Second, it explains the strategies of Islamic guidance and counseling teachers in dealing with student smoking behavior which include three main approaches: supervision through routine raids 20%, discussion group counseling 35%, and educational and spiritual discipline development 45%. Educational and spiritual discipline development, instilling the values of the Quran and Hadith, is considered the most effective way to foster long-term self-awareness. These strategies are considered to have an impact on preventing and addressing smoking behavior in adolescents.

Abstract

This study aims to redesign a futuristic learning model through the SCAMPER technique as a framework for developing effective and future-oriented education that responds to the demands of the Society 5.0 era. The study focuses on combining learning models to cultivate students’ critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. Through the substitute, combine, adapt, modify, eliminate, and rearrange stages of SCAMPER, this research integrates Problem-Based Learning as main model, Group Investigation as complement model, and Talking Stick as supporting model into a coherent learning framework. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through document analysis and literature review, and analyzed following Miles and Huberman’s model comprising data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the redesigned model encourages student-centered learning, active participation, and meaningful interaction between teachers and learners. The integration of collaborative and reflective activities also promotes students’ confidence and communication fluency. Thus, the SCAMPER-based redesign offers a practical reference for educators in constructing innovative, contextual, and adaptive learning models that prepare students to face the complex challenges of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

The historical work of KH. Ahmad Dahlan in 1923 entitled “Tali Pengikat Hidup Manusia” (The Bond of Human Life) focused on the editorial theme of “leaders of Islamic progress,” which became an ideological term. These internal institutional reasons required Muhammadiyah, as a modernist Islamic organization, to take a stand in solving national and global humanitarian issues with a new civilization-humanitarian strategy such as Islam Berkemajuan (Progressive Islam). Methodology: The historical method was used in writing this research, based on the fact that the study to be discussed is a historical study and the data needed in writing the research comes from the past. Discussion: Muhammadiyah in a global context. Progressive Muhammadiyah must be able to contribute to civilizational dialogue and international cooperation that upholds the values of humanity and justice. Muhammadiyah is expected to become a bridge between the Islamic world and the global community in solving various common problems, such as environmental issues, peace, and human rights.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the phenomenon of the Arabic language environment on campus and analyze its influence on the improvement of speaking skills (maharah al-kalam) of students of the Arabic Language Education Study Program. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a location in one of the Islamic universities in Java. The research subjects consisted of 25 fourth-semester students, two language coaches, and one coordinator of the language environment program. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawn. The validity of the data is strengthened through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study show that the Arabic language environment on campus has a significant impact on improving students' speaking skills. Activities such as Arabic Day, muhadatsah, and nadi al-lughah increase confidence, fluency in speaking, and the accuracy of students' language structure. However, several obstacles were found such as the lack of discipline in the use of Arabic and the lack of supporting facilities. Overall, this study confirms that a consistently designed language environment can create a communicative, interactive, and effective learning atmosphere in improving students' speaking skills.

Abstract

The coffee industry in Indonesia has experienced rapid growth, leading to an increasing demand for professional baristas with specific skills such as espresso extraction, latte art, and manual brewing techniques. However, available barista training programs are not yet fully integrated with the needs of the industry. This study aims to analyze integrated course management in enhancing the specific skills of professional baristas at two training institutions, namely LKP Sugeng Sejahtera (West Bandung Regency) and LKP Karya Duta (Bandung City). This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that both institutions implement training management based on G.R. Terry's theory, which includes planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. These are complemented by industry-adjusted curricula, involvement of business partners, and competency-based evaluations. The challenges encountered include limited facilities, gaps in instructor competencies, and the suboptimal sustainability of post-training programs. Solutions are pursued through strengthening industry partnerships, updating curricula, and continuous evaluation. It can be concluded that integrated course management plays a vital role in bridging skill gaps and enhancing barista professionalism, and it is relevant as a model for the development of other vocational training programs.

Abstract

Pondok pesantren (Islamic Boarding School), as a traditional Islamic educational institution, plays an important role in the preservation and development of Islamic studies, particularly through the teaching of the yellow book (kitab kuning). However, the use of classical Arabic and the depth of the material present unique challenges for students (santri) in the understanding process. This study aims to examine the management of the sorogan method in enhancing the understanding of the yellow book at Pondok Pesantren Ar-Risalah (West Bandung Regency) and Pondok Pesantren MUS Sarang (Rembang Regency). This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The results indicate that structured sorogan management encompassing aspects of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision positively impacts the improvement of students' abilities to comprehend the content of the yellow book. This method facilitates the creation of a learning environment that is individual, interactive, and adaptive to each student's capabilities. Challenges faced include the limited number of supervising teachers and the varying levels of students' understanding; however, these can be minimized through effective time management strategies and the use of simple technology in the teaching and learning process. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that systematic and adaptive management of the sorogan method is a potential alternative solution for enhancing the quality of yellow book learning in the pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study examines how deep learning is incorporated into the Independent Curriculum for Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Using a qualitative approach based on literature study, this study finds opportunities, problems, and new models to support students' deep understanding and strengthening of Islamic character. Through technology-based approaches such as digital platforms, interactive applications, and project-based learning, deep learning has great potential to improve students' understanding of Islam. Students can not only understand Islamic concepts academically but also apply them in their daily lives with the help of this technology. However, several obstacles hinder the implementation of deep learning, such as limited technological infrastructure, teacher and student readiness, and the challenge of balancing the use of modern technology with the preservation of Islamic values. Therefore, this study proposes a model that combines Islamic values with modern technology, such as AI and adaptive learning systems. This model aims to improve the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects of the overall learning experience. In addition, this study suggests ways to improve teachers' abilities through special training, strengthen government policies on the digitalization of education, and encourage the development of technology based on Islamic principles. The results of this study are expected to encourage the implementation of in-depth learning in the Independent Curriculum, improve Islamic Religious Education learning, and instill Islamic character in students that are in accordance with the needs of the digital age. Therefore, technology integration can help in-depth learning while maintaining the core of Islamic teachings.
