Abstract

This research aims to analyze and study the process of building non-formal education through the transformational leadership of village Kiai. This research was conducted in Sumberrejo village, Paiton subdistrict, Probolinggo district, East Java province. Researchers used a qualitative case study type approach. Data was collected using interview, observation, and documentation techniques and then analyzed through several steps: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. This research shows that the transformational leadership of village Kiai in Karanganyar village is depicted as a spinning wheel to achieve the organization's vision and mission goals. The leadership of the town of Kiai can mobilize the community to develop the knowledge possessed by each individual in the community. In this case, leaders must interact closely with society because leaders must actively motivate to achieve the organization's vision and mission. There are four characteristics of leaders in transformational leadership, namely: (1) Ideaization of Influence/Charisma, (2) Intellectual Stimulus, (3) Intellectual Consideration, and (4) Inspirational Motivation.

Abstract

Congregational prayer is worship carried out by a group of people, at least two people, with the selection of an imam who is fluent in reading and has a good understanding of Islamic law. It is the Imam who stands in the front row, while the others are the makmum or followers. As far as the author is concerned, there is an interesting side when discussing the efforts and supporting factors that regional heads are trying to improve the culture of congregational prayer for students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation techniques. For data analysis, Miles and Huberman's interactive model was used through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of discussions on regional head management in improving the culture of congregational prayer in the Zaid bin Tsabit area show that regional heads implement various efforts, such as setting an example, providing motivation and religious activities, routine supervision. The implementation of these efforts has proven effective in increasing the participation of students in carrying out congregational prayers and strengthening social and spiritual ties in the Islamic boarding school environment. Evaluation can be done by looking at supporting and inhibiting factors. This research concludes that the active role and commitment of the head of the Sengat area is important in building a strong culture of congregational prayer in Islamic boarding schools, especially in the Zaid bin Tsabit area.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the integration of character education in teaching activities, managerial responses to social and moral changes in children in the modern era, and the synergy between school management and character education in rural areas. The research was conducted at SD Negeri Kedawung II, in Kuripan District, Probolinggo Regency, in Krajan Hamlet, Kedawung Village. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, aiming to describe the phenomena that occur and analyse the challenges faced by the school in managing character education amidst existing social dynamics. Data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews with the school principal, teachers, and several parents. The results show that the integration of character education into teaching activities at SD Negeri Kedawung II has been successfully implemented by reinforcing moral and ethical values in every aspect of school life. Managerial responses to social and moral changes in children in the modern era are reflected in the school's efforts to adapt to the negative influences of technological development and globalisation on students' character. The synergy between school management and character education has proven effective despite significant challenges, particularly regarding limited resources and external cultural influences. The impact of social dynamics in rural environments also affects the formation of children's character, where local values play a crucial role in the educational process. This study underscores the importance of the role of school management in creating an environment that supports the formation of children's character in the modern era. Keywords: Character Education, Role, Management

Abstract

The dynamics of the development of Education in Indonesia has always been colored by various problems which until now continue to be homework together. The problem is related to the Education system, curriculum, quality of graduates, well-being and integrity of educators, infrastructure, costs, and accountability of Education institutions and managers. In addition to these problems, our education is also faced with the problem of the moral decadence of the younger generation. One of the causes of this problem is that educational institutions are still not optimal in carrying out their role. Educational institutions in Indonesia are judged to give a very large portion to the transmission of knowledge, but less or even forget the development of attitudes, values and behavior in learning. Similarly, in the evaluation process, the cognitive dimension becomes the main yardstick to determine the level of student performance. As a result, educational institutions are able to produce graduates who have extensive knowledge but care less about the social environment around them. Ironically, this educational practice also takes place in a madrasah, which is an Islamic educational institution. Madrasas should emulate the efforts made by pesantren in terms of instilling character, namely through habituation, discipline, learning process and integration in learning materials.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the implementation of inclusive education in the context of religious education, especially at the Sabilillah Inclusion Islamic Boarding School, as well as identifying the challenges and strategies implemented to achieve it. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a case study at the Sabilillah Inclusion Islamic Boarding School. Data was obtained through interviews with the head of the Islamic boarding school, administrators, teachers and the surrounding community, as well as direct observation of the learning process and available facilities. The research results show that inclusive education at the Sabilillah Inclusion Islamic Boarding School is implemented with an approach that prioritizes equality and respect for differences. This Islamic boarding school provides equal opportunities for all students, including those with disabilities, to obtain quality religious education. However, the main challenges faced are the readiness of educators who are not sufficiently trained to manage inclusive classes, limited disability-friendly facilities, and the social stigma that still exists in society. This Islamic boarding school seeks to overcome these challenges by providing more accessible facilities, teaching tailored to individual needs, and using technology as a learning tool. This research concludes that inclusive religious education at the Sabilillah Inclusion Islamic Boarding School has succeeded in creating a more open and friendly learning environment for all students, although there are still several aspects that need to be improved. Community support and sustainable infrastructure development are very important to ensure the success of more optimal inclusive education.

Abstract

This article examines how minority students form and assert their identities in school's public spaces, particularly in interactions with majority groups. This qualitative research uses interviews and documentation studies, focusing on several minority students in schools in East Java. The research results show that the identity of minority students is formed through religious expressions, which include verbal expressions, attitudes of prayer, and greetings on holidays. These three expressions function as a means for minorities to assert their identity among the majority. This research concludes that identity formation depends on significant religious expressions and small actions carried out repeatedly. Therefore, schools must provide equitable social spaces for minority students, with policies supporting equality and respecting differences in school social life. The research results show that the understanding of inclusive education is still limited to involving children with special needs in regular school learning classes. Significant structural and cultural obstacles exist to its implementation, and inclusive education needs to be redefined to make it more holistic. This research produced recommendations, including improving infrastructure, training teaching staff, and developing policies that support inclusive education. The findings from this research illustrate the importance of a broader understanding of inclusive education and the need for strategic action to ensure equal access to education for all children.

Abstract

Community-based education begins with a critical educational perspective that wants to challenge the government's hegemony in the field of education through the democratization of education. This study aims to examine the concept of community-based education that is applied in Indonesia. This study is library research with analysis through a survey of relevant literature data, both in the form of reference books, previous research results, articles, notes, and journals. The results of the study indicate that community-based education in Indonesia has been implemented through various programs developed in the education process in the form of formal and non-formal education rights according to religious characteristics and social and cultural environments. However, there are several obstacles to its implementation in Indonesia, including 1) the relatively high level of community dependence on the government, 2) the weak economy of the community, and 3) school-based education still being dominant. Some supporting factors include: 1) many community-based institutions have succeeded in implementing this model independently, 2) the culture of the Indonesian people who are predominantly Muslim, and 3) the spirit of cooperation

Abstract

This research examines the integration of religious moderation values in educational leadership in Samarinda, with the aim of encouraging student character development through Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Educational leaders play an important role in instilling the values of religious moderation in the school environment, which involves promoting tolerance, inclusivity and respect for diversity. This research uses a qualitative approach, using interviews, observations, and document analysis to explore the strategies used by PAI school leaders and teachers to integrate these values into the curriculum and daily school activities. Research findings indicate that inclusive leadership practices significantly influence the acceptance of diverse beliefs among students, reduce the potential for extremism, and promote a balanced religious perspective. Furthermore, this research highlights specific pedagogical strategies that effectively integrate the values of religious moderation, emphasizing character-building values such as empathy, cooperation, and understanding. By integrating the values of moderation into religious education, school leaders not only support national unity and social cohesion, but also contribute to the holistic character development of students. This research emphasizes the importance of leadership in promoting cultural and ethical education and provides practical insights for policy makers, educational leaders, and PAI practitioners who aim to strengthen character education through religious moderation

Abstract

The mental health of university students has increasingly become a global concern due to academic pressures, social challenges, and personal stress. Many students face barriers to accessing traditional mental health services, such as stigma, cost, and limited resources. In this context, this study highlights the potential of chatbots as an innovative tool to bridge gaps in mental health services within academic institutions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at Nurul Jadid University. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation to gain an in-depth understanding of the impact of chatbot usage on students' mental health. The respondents were students and lecturers, providing diverse perspectives on chatbot utilization. Data analysis involved reduction, presentation, and verification using content, discourse, and interpretive analysis methods. The findings indicate that chatbots are effective in addressing mild to moderate mental health issues but remain limited in handling more complex problems. A lack of personalization also emerged as a significant concern, with 55% of students and 60% of practitioners suggesting that improvements in this area are necessary to optimize the chatbot's ability to meet users' needs.
