Abstract

This research the integration of andragogy and project-based learning (PjBL) to enhance life skills competency among adult learners in a fashion training program at LKP Anggrek Padang, Indonesia. Despite the potential of PjBL to foster practical and cognitive skills, its effectiveness in informal adult education remains limited when disconnected from adult-centered learning principles. Using descriptive qualitative methods—participant observation, interviews with 12 learners and one instructor, and document analysis—this study examines how instructional practices align with Malcolm Knowles’ andragogical principles. Findings show that while PjBL engaged learners in collaborative garment-making projects, teaching remained teacher-centered, with rigid instructions and external evaluations. Learner autonomy, experiential reflection, and intrinsic motivation were underemphasized, resulting in missed opportunities to develop critical life skills such as problem-solving, self-direction, and adaptability. The misalignment between adult learners’ characteristics and pedagogical approach highlights a gap in instructor understanding of andragogy. The study concludes that effective life skills development requires more than PjBL implementation—it demands intentional integration with andragogical foundations. Recommendations include andragogy-based teacher training and curriculum redesign for vocational programs targeting adults.

Abstract

Educational planning is one of the compulsory subjects to achieve one of the educational administration graduate profiles, namely becoming an educational planner. However, with the development of science and technology and adapting it to the current needs of students, it is necessary to conduct research for curriculum development for educational planning courses.For this reason, the purpose of this paper is to find out student perceptions of student perceptions of curriculum development for the Education Planning Course. The method used is Mix (mixture) that is qualitative and qualitative. Data collection using questionnaires, documentation, observation and interviews. The results of the research show that the Education Planning Course needs to be developed. Good learning is project-based using actual and updated data. an area. Good learning uses digital media or applications that make it easier to calculate and obtain valid data and reduce human error.

Abstract

Life skills education is a valuable and strategic investment in producing skilled and skilled Indonesian people in various fields according to the needs of the community and the world of work. This means that life skills are given to all elements of society, especially for women. Women as someone who has an important role in the family is the key to success in the existence of his family. Life skills education is provided in order to help increase family income, which in this case contributes to women's empowerment. Padang State University as one of the higher education institutions facilitates community service. The focus of community service that the writer adopts here is the empowerment of women through the provision of life skills in order to help increase family income. This service was carried out in Nagari Siguntur, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The number of subjects (training participants) is 15 women. The method used is lectures, workshops and training. Data collection techniques are observation (assessment process) and interviews. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results of the implementation of the community empowerment program showed that (1) the number of participants who actively participated in women's empowerment activities through the provision of life skills was 15 people, (2) the training participants had knowledge and skills in making bross, and arranging flowers from used cloth, (3) the formation of a small-scale bross production group as souvenirs for parties and cloth flower displays.Keywords: Women's Empowerment, Life Skills, Family Income

Abstract

The diverse conditions of society, both language, religion, and ethnicity, make the Indonesian nation a pluralistic country. This plurality is a nation's potential, but on the other hand it will boomerang that will trigger conflicts everywhere that will harm all parties if they cannot control it. Various conflicts can occur only because of differences in ethnicity, ethnicity, language, religion and culture. In addition, the issue of gender inequality is also one of the problems that exist in our country. There are still many discriminatory treatments against one gender, especially women, such as the opportunity to obtain equal rights in the economy, education, politics and society, the stigma attached to women who can only work in the domestic sphere, treatment of acts of violence, even to the role of woman must bear in order to meet the needs of her life. This paper aims to review the importance of multicultural education and gender equality in overcoming the problem of sociocultural diversity. The research method used is a literature study, which explains the phenomena that occur based on scientific studies that have been carried out previously. Abstract

Pelatihan ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan guru dalam menghadapi bencana. Pentingnya topik ini terletak pada tingginya risiko bencana di daerah tersebut dan perlunya pendidikan mitigasi bencana yang komprehensif bagi para guru. Metode pengabdian meliputi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan, dilakukan penyesuaian jadwal, koordinasi, rekrutmen peserta, sosialisasi kegiatan, dan tes kemampuan awal guru. Pelaksanaan terdiri dari pelatihan pengembangan kemampuan mitigasi bencana dan penyusunan pembelajaran berbasis komunitas sosial. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru tentang mitigasi bencana. Pengetahuan mengenai berbagai jenis bencana dan konsep mitigasi meningkat sebesar 85% dan 90%, sementara keterampilan dalam pembuatan rencana penanggulangan bencana dan teknik evakuasi meningkat sebesar 88% dan 92%. Integrasi isu kebencanaan dalam kurikulum dan penerapan metode pembelajaran berbasis proyek juga berhasil dilakukan dengan peningkatan sebesar 87% dan 83%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan efektif dalam meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan guru dan dapat dijadikan model untuk program serupa di wilayah rawan bencana lainnya. Implementasi strategi mitigasi yang efektif diharapkan dapat mengurangi risiko dan dampak bencana, serta meningkatkan keselamatan dan kesejahteraan siswa dan komunitas sekolah.

Abstract

The literacy level in the art of reading the Qur'an in Nagari Singguliang, Lubuk Alung, remains relatively low, as indicated by the limited number of qari and qari’ah who can perform during religious events. This community service program aims to enhance Qur'anic reading literacy through a Peer Teaching method based on local content implemented at Surau Nurul Jama'ah. The activities involved peer mentoring, Qur’an recitation practice, and training in tajwid and tarannum using locally contextualized learning materials. The “Back to Surau” program was also conducted to revitalize the surau as a center of religious and community learning. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ ability to recite the Qur’an melodiously, as well as greater engagement in religious activities among youth and adults. Additionally, community involvement in surau programs strengthened local Islamic identity and fostered sustainable religious literacy.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk menjawab permasalahan minimnya penerapan digitalisasi pembayaran dan media promosi UMKM, serta kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap kebersihan lingkungan di Kelurahan Panunggangan Barat. Sebagian pelaku UMKM belum memanfaatkan pembayaran digital QRIS, dan belum memiliki media promosi seperti banner. Sementara di sisi lingkungan masih terbatasnya tempat sampah dan minimnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pengembangan UMKM melalui pembuatan banner dan pendampingan penggunaan QRIS, serta meningkatkan kepedulian lingkungan melalui pembuatan tempat sampah daur ulang, edukasi pengelolaan sampah, dan kegiatan kerja bakti. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif melalui observasi, sosialisasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, dan kolaborasi dengan warga setempat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman bagi pelaku UMKM terhadap pentingnya media promosi dan transaksi digital, serta meningkatnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan. Program ini memberikan dampak positif dari sisi ekonomi, sosial, dan lingkungan, serta menjadi langkah awal dalam mendukung kemandirian dan keberlanjutan masyarakat.

Abstract

Empowerment evaluation is critical in ensuring that the empowerment program achieves its goals and provides the intended benefits to the community it serves. By conducting a complete bibliometric analysis for the period 2014-2023, this study analyzed the current state and research trends in the subject of empowerment evaluation. This research focused on publication language, growth rates, keywords, most frequently used authors, most referenced papers, most prolific authors, most productive institutions, and most active countries. 355 journal articles were obtained from the Scopus database for bibliometric mapping analysis. The research findings showed that: (1) the majority of articles were written in English; (2) the most published articles were in 2015, with 65 articles; (3) empowerment was the most commonly used keyword; (4) the article by Fox, J.A. 2015 was the most frequently cited document; (5) Ponsford, R. from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom (England) is the most prolific writer; and  (6) the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom (England) is a public institution that produces the most work in the field of empowerment evaluation; and (7) the United States is the country with the highest work productivity in this field. This paper makes an important contribution to the topic of empowerment evaluation by providing a complete overview, scientific landscape, and future directions for the advancement and strengthening of research in the field.

Abstract

Andragogy is a set of ideas about how to help adults learn that have yet to get much attention in sports teaching, especially in schools that prepare people to become coaches. This qualitative exploratory study looked at a university program in Padang, Indonesia, that was meant to prepare students to work with adult athletes. The study looked at how the ideas from Knowles' Andragogy in Practice Model were used in that school. We talked to and asked 14 pre-service coaching students and nine adult players about their learning experiences, interests, and environmental factors. The results aligned with andragogy ideas like giving students choice, problem-based learning, and teaching based on values. Cultural values valuing group work and obedience to authority clashed with basic pedagogical principles. Economic limits also affected how ready people were to learn on their own. The general company mindset continued to be similar to how young people are coached. A combined method that adapts andragogy to the local social, cultural, and sports norms is offered to improve coaching education and adult learning in this setting. The results shed light on an area that has not been studied much and applied to andragogical theory. They also show how to use teach-ing methods appropriate for different cultures.
