Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is the most common type of diabetes, accounting for approximately 90% of all diabetes cases. It is characterized by insulin resistance, where the body fails to adequately respond to insulin. Complications can include macrovascular and microvascular damage, as well as diabetic neuropathy, which can occur in both newly diagnosed and long-standing patients. Purpose: This study aims to explain the influence of digital-based education and counseling on self-care behaviors in patients with T2DM as a prevention strategy for neuropathy complications. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest posttest design, where the pretest was implemented before treatment digital education and counseling, the posttest was implemented after treatment digital education and counseling. the posttest was implemented after treatment digital education and counseling. This study was conducted with pretest observation before education on self-care for patients with T2DM was implemented. Results: The study population consisted of 194 patients with T2DM in the Lawawoi Community Health Center area, from which 32 respondents were selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires The Summary of Diabetes Self Care Activities (SDSCA) Reliabilitas: Cronbach’s alpha antara 0.62 – 0.91 Validated by experts with a score of CVI (Content Validity Index) > 0.80, Level of knowledge validated by experts, CVI > 0.80. Reliabilitas: Cronbach’s alpha berkisar antara 0.70 – 0.85, shows good internal consistency, and analyzed using paired t-tests and independent samples t-tests. Conclusion: The findings revealed that the digital education group’s knowledge obtained a sig. (2 tailed) value on the pretest and posttest of 0.000 <0.05, the digital education group’s skills obtained a sig. (2 tailed) value on the pretest and posttest of 0.000 <0.05, the counseling group’s knowledge obtained a sig. (2 tailed) value on the pretest and posttest of 0.000 <0.05, while the counseling group’s skills obtained a sig. (2 tailed) value on the pretest and posttest of 0.000 <0.05. There is a significant influence of digital-based education and counseling on the knowledge and skills of patients with T2DM.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition that is often found in primary health care. Basic Health Research data for 2018 show that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.1%. Efforts that have been made to reduce the impact of hypertension include pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Herbal therapy is included in complementary therapy, one of the herbal therapies to reduce blood pressure is the consumption of garlic. Garlic contains allicin and hydrogen sulfide which dilate and make blood vessels less rigid so blood pressure will decrease. Purpose: To determine the effect of garlic extract on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methods: This is a pretest-posttest pre-experimental study for the causal relationship of garlic extract with a decrease in blood pressure. The samples of this study were hypertensive patients. The statistical tests used were the friedman test to compare pre, post-1, and post-2 and the Wilcoxon test to compare two repeated observations which were analyzed using Software Program Statistics System.  Results: For systolic blood pressure, the statistical test results obtain a p-value of (0.000) <0.05, which means that there is a change in blood pressure between pre, post-1, and post-2, with a change in magnitude of 13.43. Meanwhile, for diastolic blood pressure, the statistical test results obtain a p-value of (0.000) <0.05, which means that there is a change in blood pressure between pre, post-1, and post-2, with a change in magnitude of 8.67. Conclusion: There is an effect of garlic extract on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

Background: The phenomenon in women and adolescent girls has experienced vaginal discharge in 60% of adolescents (15-22 years old) and 40% of women (23-45 years old); if left, vaginal discharge can have bad impacts on health, one of which is cervical cancer, it was found that the main cause of cervical cancer in Indonesia is poor quality sanitary napkins. Physiological vaginal discharge usually occurs before and after menstruation, and abnormal vaginal discharge is called pathological vaginal discharge, which occurs due to an infection in the vagina. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the length of wearing panty liners and the incidence of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. Methods: The quantitative method with the correlation analysis method and using a cross-sectional design, the research instrument used a questionnaire. The population was 95 students, and the number of samples was 79 people with purposive sampling techniques; the data were analyzed with univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between the length of wearing panty liners and the incidence of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the duration of panty liner use and the incidence of vaginal discharge among adolescent girls. A total of 44 respondents (55.7%) used panty liners in the abnormal category, while 35 respondents (44.3%) were in the normal usage category, with a p-value of 0.001 < 0.05. Conclusion: This indicates that wearing panty liners for an extended period can increase the risk of vaginal discharge in adolescent girls. It is recommended that the use of panty liners be limited and replaced periodically to prevent vaginal discharge and maintain the health of the intimate organs.
