Abstract

Hygrocybe conica atau yang dikenal dengan nama kulat tiung atau kulat tiong merupakan salah satu jamur edible yang dikonsumsi di Indonesia. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan informasi karakter jamur tersebut yang disertai gambar tubuh buah, potensi pemanfaatannya, dan informasi persebarannya di Indonesia. Eksplorasi jamur dilakukan dengan opportunictic sampling method dengan melibatkan beberapa penggiat jamur di Indonesia. Informasi terkait potensi pemanfaatan dan distribusi H.conica di Indonesia diperoleh melalui diskusi dengan masyarakat lokal dan referensi ilmiah yang tersedia. Jamur ini telah dilaporkan sebanyak 13 kali dari 9 propinsi di Indonesia. Namun sebagian besar laporan yang ada tanpa disertai dengan deskripsi karakter morfologi yang lengkap sehingga menjadi kurang populer di kalangan masyarakat Indonesia. Jamur ini memiliki kandungan antioksidan yang baik untuk kesehatan namun belum ditemukan adanya laporan upaya kultivasinya. Informasi pada penelitian ini berkontribusi untuk merapihkan data pencatatan kekayaan diversitas jamur dan potensi pemanfaatannya di Indonesia

Abstract

Biosurfactants are a class of amphipathic molecules that various microorganisms can produce. Biosurfactants are used as biopesticides and biocontrol agents because they have antimicrobial activity, especially as antifungal agents in several species of fungal pathogens such as Ganoderma boninense and Fusarium sp. that attack crops. This study aims to detect the biosurfactant activity of Bacillus sp. and its potential as an antifungal agent against the fungi Ganoderma boninense and Fusarium sp. Biosurfactants were produced in mineral salt medium (MSM) by harvesting cell-free supernatants. Screening of biosurfactant-producing isolates was carried out using an oil-spreading assay, a hemolysis assay, and an emulsification index. The antifungal activity of the isolates was then tested using the agar diffusion method. The LP04 isolate was closely related to Bacillus thuringiensis with a 99% similarity level. It has the potential to have biosurfactant activity, which is characterized by a positive result on the oil spreading assay test and has an emulsification index of 48.33±2.87%. The cell-free supernatants of the bacterial isolate were able to inhibit the growth of Ganoderma boninense and Fusarium sp. with growth inhibition rates of 51.11% and 56.92%, respectively.

Abstract

Phlebopus portentosus (Berk. and Broome) Boedijn was firstly constructed from the collection of Indonesia in 1951. To date, the subsequent collection of this ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi has not been done in Indonesia. In addition, the utilization information of this edible mushroom as food is not popular for the country. The goal of our work was to update the current collection, provide the morphological and molecular data, and promote the utilization of this edible mushroom in Indonesia. Fresh fruiting bodies were evaluated for morphological and molecular evidence. The basidiomata were analysis on the basis of the morphological and molecular evidence. The phylogenetic tree was constructed following the rDNA-ITS 1/2 sequence. P. portentosus was verified by morphological and phylogenetic studies combined. The indigenous people in the research site use this wild edible mushroom for self-consumption and sell it to local market. Phlebopus portentosus BO24626 was solitary to connate, boletoid basidioma, yellowish to greenish brown pileus and stipe, yellowish hymenophore, clavate stipe, club shaped basidia, oval to subglobose basidiospores, cystidia present. The absence of sponge-like tissues and the occurrence of sterigmata distinguished our specimens from the similar morphological species P. spongious. The lack of reddish stipe distinguished our specimen from P. roseus. In addition, the presence of hymenial cystidia delimits our specimens from P. colossus. The inferred phylogenetic tree nested our specimen in the group of P. portentosus (sister to P. spongiosus). The ITS sequence of our specimen is now deposited at GenBank and can be applied to upcoming research of P. portentosus.

Abstract

Biodiversity is an important aspect which supports life systems on earth as well as maintains ecosystem sustainability and evolution. Fungal communities, in particular, saprophytic fungi, are often ignored during an inventory of biodiversity in the National Park Area. Saprophytic fungi is a fungus obtain nutrients by decomposing dead organisms or other organic material and act as decomposers in the ecosystem. Saprophytic fungi can be found growing on dead organic matter contained in the environment such as soil, wood, and litter. The diversity of Macroscopic saprophytic fungi from Ujung Kulon National Park is reported here. Fungal identification was done by using a variety of macroscopic characters. This study determined eight species that classified into six genera of saprophytic fungi, namely: Collybia, Crepidotus, Hygrocybe, Lepiota, Marasmius, and Mycena. By knowing the diversity of saprophytic fungi, it is expected to add information about biodiversity as a preparation towards the further development of the potential of existing biodiversity in Indonesia.

Abstract

Marore Island (Province of North Sulawesi) is one of the outermost island in Indonesia. The island is located at the borderline within the Philippines. Till date, there is no publication about islands macrofungi diversity from this island. In fact, the diversity of macrofungi has the potency to support the development of global bioeconomic in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to make an inventory list of macrofungi on Marore Island in order to enhance the potential in the future. A total was of 22 mushrooms from 13 genera were obtained from this study which were divided into two phylums, namely Basidiomycota and Ascomycota. The identification results confirmed the species obtained: Ganoderma sp.1, Ganoderma sp.2, Ganoderma sp.3, Ganoderma sp.4, Ganoderma sp.5, Ganoderma sp.6, Trametes sp.1, Trametes sp.2, Trametes sp.3, Pycnoporus sp.1, Pycnoporus sp.2, Polyporus sp., Daedalea sp., Lentinus sp., Marasmius sp.1, Marasmius sp.2, Schizophyllum sp., Panellus sp., Tricholoma sp., Phallus sp., Dacryopinax spathularia, and Daldinia sp.

Abstract

Fusarium oxysporum has been the enemy in agriculture due to the wide range of infections in the whole crop and postharvest. Botanical extracts in traditional medicine systems were considered valuable sources for discovering new antifungals. Thus, exploration to get antifungals from eco-friendly botanical extracts as an alternative to synthetic fungicides needs to be expanded. Therefore, this study aims to test the antifungal potential of seven eco-friendly botanical aquadest extracts against F. oxysporum in vitro. The antifungal potential test was done on PDA media and the mycelial growth data was collected every two days for seven days. There were three antifungal phenomena were observed. The pandan leaf extract had a 4% fungal inhibition zone (phenomenon I). The extract of banana leaf, Hibiscus flower, papaya leaf, guava twig (phenomenon II), orange peels, and betel leaf (phenomenon III) had no values of fungal inhibition zone. Thus, pandan leaves extract revealed a fungal inhibition while other six botanical extracts had not enough antifungal potential in vitro.

Abstract

Excessive use of chemical fertilizers leads to serious environmental and health issues, while organic biofertilizers offer a sustainable solution. Jakaba or “jamur keberuntungan abadi,” a local liquid organic fertilizer derived from fungi, is increasingly used by Indonesian farmers. However, its taxonomy and potential applications require further investigation. Moreover, the effects of jakaba on Fusarium and its impact on maize growth remain unexplored. This study aims to characterize jakaba comprehensively, evaluate its anti-Fusarium properties, conduct pathogenicity tests, and assess its effects on maize growth. Morphological analysis of fresh jakaba fruiting bodies was conducted, and molecular identification was performed based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) 1/4 regions. The antagonistic test was done using plant pathogenic fungi (Fusarium sp.). In addition, jakaba was evaluated for its impact on the vegetative growth of maize. Observations identified jakaba as belonging to the genus Corallomycetella, characterized by coral-shaped fruiting bodies with an orange hue and a white tip. The hyphae are septate, spore hyaline, and ellipsoid. The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) analysis revealed that jakaba was Corallomycetella repens, with a query cover of 99% and a phylogenetic tree 96% bootstrap (BS) value. Jakaba exhibits antibiosis activity against Fusarium sp., with an inhibition rate of 5.64%. Although C. repens has been previously identified as a cause of root rot in Indonesia, the current study reveals that jakaba is not pathogenic to maize. Furthermore, the application of jakaba’s liquid organic fertilizer at a concentration of 40 ml l-1 significantly increased plant height, leaf length, leaf width, and stem diameter compared to other treatments. These findings highlight jakaba potential as a biofertilizer.

Abstract

Ganoderma spp. is a genus of macrofungi in the Basidiomycota, comprising both saprophytic and phytopathogenic species. Ganoderma spp. prefers woody substrates and can attack various trees in the forest. While it often acts as a phytopathogenic fungus, it also serves an ecological role for surrounding insects, providing food and shelter. This study aims to determine the interactions and preferences of Ganoderma spp. with its hosts and to observe the interactions between Ganoderma spp. and surrounding insects. Research on these interactions was conducted through scan sampling exploration in the Gunung Walat Educational Forest. Identification of fungi, trees, and insects was based on morphological characteristics. A total of 155 fruiting bodies of Ganoderma were found. Three species of Ganoderma were successfully collected and described morphologically, both macroscopically and microscopically. Ganoderma spp. were found infecting Agathis sp., Schima wallichii, and Pinus merkusii trees. The fruiting bodies of Ganoderma spp. interacted with insects such as larvae, Trichomyrmex destructor ants, and Eumorphus marginatus beetles, which used the fruiting bodies as breeding and shelter sites

Abstract

Climacodon roseomaculatus is a fleshy species of Polyporales with a hydnoid hymenophore. The species’s distribution in Indonesia was reported six times from 1923 to 1961 from West Java and East Java collection to date, there have been no following updates on the collection and occurrence status of C. roseomaculatus in Indonesia. During a fungus foray in 2023, some red to pink basidiomata of Climacodon were spotted in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. The current study aimed to determine the taxonomical position of Climacodon BO24632 based on morphological evidence. Fresh materials were used for the investigation of macro- and micromorphological characters. The result showed that Climacodon BO24632 was identified as C. roseomaculatus based on distinctive features of stipe and gleocystidia. Climacodon roseomaculatus BO24632 is closely related to C. sanguineus with blood-red to pink basidiomata, cylindrical spines of hymenophores, and ellipsoid basidiospores. However, the former species lacks a well-developed stipe and has thin to thick-walled gloeocystidia. This study is the first report on the distribution of C. roseomaculatus from Central Java, Indonesia. In addition, the current work is the latest information and herbarium collection of C. roseomaculatus after more than fifty years of hiatus in Indonesia. We expect that the same species also occur in many different locations in Indonesia; thus need a warrant of collections.

Abstract

Indonesia diketahui sebagai salah satu negara megabiodiversitas yang memiliki keberagaman tinggi termasuk jamur. Namun, sebagian besar publikasi terkait keragaman jamur di Indonesia tidak dilengkapi dengan deskripsi morfologi tubuh buah yang ditemukan. Eksplorasi dan deskripsi jamur sangat penting untuk mendata keberagaman jamur di Indonesia, tetapi data mengenai keanekaragaman jamur dengan data yang komperhensif masih sangat minim dilaporkan di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan eksplorasi jenis jamur di berbagai tempat, salah satunya adalah kawasan kampus IPB. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi jamur yang terdapat di sekitar Kawasan kampus IPB guna menambah informasi keragaman jamur Indonesia. Eksplorasi jamur mengacu pada sampling opportunistik yang dilakukan dengan menjelajahi halaman Masjid Al-Huriyah dan hutan di sekitar perumahan dosen IPB berlokasi di Kecamatan Dramaga, Jawa Barat. Identifikasi jamur dilakukan dengan melakukan pengamatan secara makroskopis (dimensi dankarakter tubuh buah) dan mikroskopis (pileipellis, basidia, spora, hifa). Sebanyak 3 genus jamur berhasil diperoleh, diidentifikasi, dan dideskripsikan pada penelitian ini yaitu Geastrum sp., Auricularia sp., dan Psilocybe sp. Seluruh jamur tersebut merupakan anggota dari filum Basidiomycota dan kelas Agaricomycetes. Deskripsi Auricularia dan Psilocybe pada penelitian ini merupakan catatan baru untuk ragam jamur IPB dan berkontribusi pada pangkalan data jamur Indonesia.
