Abstract

Wood waste is the remains of wood parts no longer considered economically valuable in product processes. However, if wood waste products are made at different times and places, they will produce new economic value products. Waste wood pieces are currently not utilized optimally due to the lack of knowledge and insight into technology and the development of creativity in the community regarding the use of wood waste. Partners in PKM are the SUKAYU (Suka Karya Kayu) group, which has just started a business with limited wood products, namely, placing flower pots. The problem partners face is limited knowledge, skills, equipment, and capital, so they cannot develop product innovations based on the high selling value and artistic value of wood waste. The method used is training on making chairs, shoe racks, and flower pots using applicative methods, mentoring, and evaluating activities. Training program held on August 16, 2022. After the training, there was an increase in the partners' knowledge and skills about wood waste and its use as wood products, and the partners were able to make several wood products from the waste. The outputs of the Community Partnership Program activities are wood products (chairs, shoe racks, and flower pots), publications in The Banjarmasin Post Online, scientific articles, and activity videos on YouTube.

Abstract

The catalytic oxidation of cyclohexanone using environmentally benign oxidants remains a key challenge in sustainable organic synthesis. In this study, natural zeolite (clinoptilolite and mordenite) and bentonite were evaluated as heterogeneous catalysts for the oxidation of cyclohexanone with hydrogen peroxide under reflux at 90 °C. Structural characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the aluminosilicate frameworks, where clinoptilolite exhibited the highest crystallinity, followed by bentonite and mordenite. The oxidation products were analyzed using FTIR, melting point measurements, and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Despite the catalytic activity of all materials, FTIR and melting point analyses revealed that the expected adipic acid was not formed under the applied conditions. GC–MS results indicated the formation of partially oxidized oxygenated intermediates such as alcohols, ethers, and carbonyl derivatives, whose distribution strongly depended on the catalyst’s pore structure and surface properties. Clinoptilolite promoted confined partial oxidation due to its microporous structure, whereas bentonite facilitated non-selective oxidation owing to its open layered framework. These findings emphasize that the interplay between molecular confinement and oxygen accessibility governs the selectivity of cyclohexanone oxidation and provides insights for the rational design of improved zeolite- and clay-based catalytic systems for green oxidation reactions.

Abstract

The current injection method played an essential role in the data quality of impedance measurement using the electrical impedance tomography (EIT) technique. Previous studies have largely utilized only a single current injection method with limited interface access, which restricts the effectiveness of EIT systems. In this paper, a graphical user interface (GUI)-based data acquisition system was designed to improve user interaction and optimize the control system. The system was equipped with multiple current injection methods, allowing researchers to choose which method to use in the measurement process. The designed hardware comprises a V-to-I converter circuit, multiplexer, electrodes, peak detector, and filter circuit. Testing results indicate that the V to I converter circuit has an average peak difference between voltage and current of 4.86% and an average error of 0.69% in the peak detector circuit. The multiplexer circuit switches quickly and consistently, while the filter circuit remains stable at the 50 kHz frequency used in this study. These results demonstrate that the designed circuits perform adequately and effectively, ensuring reliable and accurate measurements.  Additionally, the data acquisition software, presented as a GUI, effectively facilitates the selection of current injection methods and the display of boundary data simulation (BDS) on the object. This is demonstrated by the spatial inhomogeneity patterns visible through BDS in both the adjacent and opposite methods

Abstract

Rapid urban population growth brings various challenges, such as decreasing quality of public services, reduced residential space, congestion, and increasing crime. Smart City is here as a solution to overcome this challenge and create a city that is safe and comfortable for its residents. Transparency of government data through Open Government Data (OGD) is the key to realizing a Smart City. This research aims to test the implementation of OGD in the City of Surabaya in realizing a Smart City. It is hoped that the research results can provide solutions for relevant agencies and the Indonesian Government in the field of OGD and Smart City. This research applies a descriptive qualitative approach, which adopts an inductive data analysis process to build understanding from specific to general aspects. This approach involves collecting data through in-depth interviews, literature reviews involving previous research published in accredited journals and mass media, as well as utilizing relevant documentation. In this research, it was found that the implementation of smart city in the city of Surabaya can be analyzed through the theory of policy implementation by George C. Edwards III, with aspects of the importance of communication, resources, implementor disposition, and bureaucratic structure. In managing open data, the City of Surabaya has an Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) who is responsible for carrying out public information services which include activities for storing, documenting, providing and disseminating information to the public. One of the obstacles to the implementation of open data is that people do not understand the urgency of open government data, so that public intervention and voice of support is also limited. Apart from that, coordination of each unit in each agency that takes part in implementing open government data must also be integrated.
