Abstract

Climate change has affected the availability of local food on small islands such as Mapur Island in Bintan Regency. Global climate change has become a critical environmental issue worldwide, drawing attention not only in Indonesia but also across other nations. This global phenomenon influences various aspects of life in Indonesia, particularly in small islands and coastal regions such as Bintan Island. To understand the dynamics of climate change on Mapur Island, it is essential to identify the most relevant indicators of climate change. Small islands and coastal areas like Mapur are highly vulnerable to climate change due to their dependence on local natural resources and ecologically sensitive environments. This study aims to analyze the climate changes occurring on Mapur Island. It employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to examine the impact of climate change on the availability of local food in Mapur Island, Bintan Regency. A stratified proportional random sampling technique was used in the data collection process. The findings indicate that Mapur Island has experienced significant fluctuations in weather variables attributable to climate change. Notably, maximum wind speeds demonstrated sharp fluctuations, with pronounced wind surges occurring between late 2020 and early 2021, as well as from 2022 to 2023.

Abstract

Abstract

Embezzlement in public procurement corruption is a significant problem in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the frequent modus operandi of embezzlement in this sector and evaluate its law enforcement efforts. The findings show that budget inflation, manipulation of tender documents, and fictitious procurement are common modes. The main enabling factors for embezzlement are weaknesses in the oversight system and lack of transparency in the procurement process. Law enforcement efforts still face major challenges, including a lack of coordination between government agencies and law enforcement. The study suggests bureaucratic reform, strengthening regulations, and implementing technology as important steps to improve integrity in public procurement.

Abstract

Sexual violence is a form of serious crime that involves serious impacts on victims, both physically and psychologically. In Indonesian criminal law, legal protection for victims of sexual violence has been regulated through various regulations, including the Child Protection Law and the Draft Law on the Elimination of Sexual Violence. However, the implementation of the law in the field still faces many challenges, such as the lack of sensitivity of law enforcement officials, weak protection of witnesses and victims, and lack of access to justice. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the existing legal framework in providing protection to victims of sexual violence. Through a normative juridical approach based on a literature study, this research reviews applicable regulations, implementation constraints, and best practices from various countries. The results show that despite progress in legislation, the implementation of legal protection for victims of sexual violence in Indonesia still requires significant improvement. This study suggests the importance of strengthening the training of law enforcement officers, improving access to rehabilitation services, and adopting restorative approaches to ensure justice for victims. Thus, the legal system can be more responsive in dealing with this crime.

Abstract

Medical law in Indonesia began to develop since 1981, triggered by the case of doctor Seitianingrum in Pati, which highlighted the importance of legal responsibility in medical practice. Medical records have a crucial role, both as administrative documents and legal evidence, in accordance with the Minister of Health Regulation Number 24 Year 2022. Medical records include important data related to patient identity, diagnosis, medical treatment, and other health services. However, mistakes in filling out medical records still often occur due to negligence. Although classified as minor negligence (culpa levis), these mistakes can have legal implications, both in the form of administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions. This study uses a normative approach to analyze laws and regulations, legal principles, and ethical standards that regulate the obligations of doctors in managing medical records. The results show that compliance with legal and ethical obligations is very important to protect patient rights, improve the quality of health services, and maintain the professionalism of doctors. Mistakes in completing medical records not only have an impact on legal aspects, but also violate the principles of medical ethics. Recommendations from this study include improving the competence of medical personnel through continuous training, implementing information technology in medical record management, and educating patients about their rights. These efforts are expected to strengthen legal and ethical compliance in medical practice, create better quality health services, and protect all involved sides.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the death penalty as a legal instrument in tackling serious crimes in Indonesia, including corruption, narcotics, and terrorism. The literature review shows that the death penalty has potential as a deterrence tool, but its effectiveness is often affected by inconsistencies in law enforcement, lack of transparency in the judicial process, and criticism from a human rights perspective. On the other hand, public support for the death penalty reflects the desire for strict law enforcement. This study recommends regulatory revisions, strengthening judicial transparency, and penal alternatives as steps to improve the effectiveness of the death penalty in Indonesia's criminal law system.

Abstract

This research discusses the legal challenges in the regulation of cross-border electronic payments in Indonesia, with a focus on protecting the rights of users using foreign platforms. Although Law No. 11 Year 2008 on Indonesian Electronic Information and Transactions Law provides the legal basis for electronic transactions in Indonesia, it is still insufficient to protect consumers in cross-border transactions. The absence of specific regulations leads to legal uncertainty and increased risk of financial loss for users. In addition, limited supervision by Bank of Indonesia of foreign platforms operating in Indonesia adds to the challenge of creating a safe and reliable payment system. The research also highlights the importance of specific regulations that require foreign platforms to comply with data security and consumer protection standards, as well as the government's role in international collaboration to create better protections. The findings of this study provide policy recommendations to strengthen the regulation and supervision of cross-border payments in Indonesia.

Abstract

Expired food is a serious problem that threatens public health and violates consumer rights. This research explores the challenges in implementing consumer protection regulations against the circulation of expired food in Indonesia. Using a normative juridical approach, this study analyzes existing regulations, barriers to their implementation, and factors that influence the effectiveness of legal protection. The results show that weak supervision, low consumer literacy, and lack of coordination across sectors are the main obstacles. Strategic recommendations include strengthening regulations, increasing the capacity of supervisory institutions, consumer education, utilizing technology, applying strict sanctions, and cross-sector collaboration. These strategies are expected to improve consumer legal protection in a sustainable manner, creating a safer and fairer market.
