Abstract

This Phenomenon provides opportunities to utilize the internet and social media in various business sectors, including marketing activities that are usually carried out in the tourism industry. This study was conducted to formulate a digital media management strategy in tourism marketing by local governments. This study was conducted in the city of Medan, where local officials have attempted to utilize various digital media platforms in tourism marketing. Unfortunately, tourists are less enthusiastic about visiting events and tourist attractions in this city. Therefore, it is necessary to reanalyze the existing conditions by formulating new strategies for digital tourism marketing by the Medan City Tourism Office. This study was conducted using PEST analysis, Porter’s Diamond Model, Value Chain Analysis, SWOT Analysis, and Balanced Scorecard. The results identified 8, 16, 13, and 4 categories of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The SWOT analysis results place digital media tourism marketing in quadrant III. The conclusion from the results and discussion is that strategy mapping and measurement using the Balanced Scorecard categorizes 13 alternative strategies into 4 perspectives, namely financial, customer, business process, and growth and learning. The novelty of this research is that the growth and learning perspective produces two alternative strategies, namely conducting market analysis and designing target profiles for each platform

Abstract

Museums play a pivotal role in the tourism industry, offering cultural and educational experiences to visitors. To remain competitive, museums must develop distinctive landscape and facility designs that enhance their appeal as tourist destinations. This research focuses on Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery, a private museum in Indonesia, aiming to improve its landscape and facility design to create a more captivating visitor experience. Using Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation No. 4 of 2021 as a benchmark, the study evaluates Rahmat Museum's compliance with business standards for private museums. The research adopts a qualitative approach, including in-depth interviews, direct observations, and a literature review. Findings indicate that the museum excels in visitor convenience, hygiene, and engagement but requires improvements in waste management, community involvement, and physical accessibility. To enhance Rahmat Museum's landscape and facility design, the study proposes three key enhancements: an accessibility ramp, an accessible toilet, and separate waste storage. These recommendations aim to ensure inclusivity, convenience, and environmental sustainability. Implementing these proposals is expected to address non-compliance issues and elevate Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery's status as a premier tourist destination. This research offers valuable insights for other private museums seeking to enhance their landscape and facility designs to attract visitors and ensure business sustainability

The research method combines a simple quantitative and qualitative approach, including interviews with tourism business managers, Pokdarwis actors, and local communities, as well as field observations to grasp the dynamics of tourism. A total of 100 respondents were involved through a questionnaire developed on the Gform platform, focusing on preferences related to nature activities, accommodation, and transportation. The analysis results show that teenagers and university students have a high interest in activities such as jungle trekking, creating opportunities for ecotourism development. The majority of respondents come from outside the region, indicating the potential for local tourism growth. Community involvement in tourism management is crucial to preserving the authenticity of culture and the environment. By focusing on tourist preferences and strengthening local participation, Bukit Lawang has the potential to achieve sustainable tourism that benefits all stakeholders. This study provides a guide for stakeholders in formulating responsible tourism policies and creating a successful model for sustainable destination development.
