Abstract

This Phenomenon provides opportunities to utilize the internet and social media in various business sectors, including marketing activities that are usually carried out in the tourism industry. This study was conducted to formulate a digital media management strategy in tourism marketing by local governments. This study was conducted in the city of Medan, where local officials have attempted to utilize various digital media platforms in tourism marketing. Unfortunately, tourists are less enthusiastic about visiting events and tourist attractions in this city. Therefore, it is necessary to reanalyze the existing conditions by formulating new strategies for digital tourism marketing by the Medan City Tourism Office. This study was conducted using PEST analysis, Porter’s Diamond Model, Value Chain Analysis, SWOT Analysis, and Balanced Scorecard. The results identified 8, 16, 13, and 4 categories of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The SWOT analysis results place digital media tourism marketing in quadrant III. The conclusion from the results and discussion is that strategy mapping and measurement using the Balanced Scorecard categorizes 13 alternative strategies into 4 perspectives, namely financial, customer, business process, and growth and learning. The novelty of this research is that the growth and learning perspective produces two alternative strategies, namely conducting market analysis and designing target profiles for each platform

Abstract

Museums play a pivotal role in the tourism industry, offering cultural and educational experiences to visitors. To remain competitive, museums must develop distinctive landscape and facility designs that enhance their appeal as tourist destinations. This research focuses on Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery, a private museum in Indonesia, aiming to improve its landscape and facility design to create a more captivating visitor experience. Using Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Regulation No. 4 of 2021 as a benchmark, the study evaluates Rahmat Museum's compliance with business standards for private museums. The research adopts a qualitative approach, including in-depth interviews, direct observations, and a literature review. Findings indicate that the museum excels in visitor convenience, hygiene, and engagement but requires improvements in waste management, community involvement, and physical accessibility. To enhance Rahmat Museum's landscape and facility design, the study proposes three key enhancements: an accessibility ramp, an accessible toilet, and separate waste storage. These recommendations aim to ensure inclusivity, convenience, and environmental sustainability. Implementing these proposals is expected to address non-compliance issues and elevate Rahmat International Wildlife Museum and Gallery's status as a premier tourist destination. This research offers valuable insights for other private museums seeking to enhance their landscape and facility designs to attract visitors and ensure business sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to identify domestic tourists’ preferences toward culinary tourism in Medan City, design thematic culinary tourism routes, and evaluate the routes using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach through questionnaires distributed to 68 respondents, supported by field observations and secondary digital data. The analysis examined culinary preferences, tourism attributes, generational consumption patterns, and digital route acceptance. The findings indicate that aesthetic or Instagrammable culinary experiences ranked highest (25%), followed by halal culinary (22.06%) and street food (20.59%). Visual appeal, religiosity, and affordability were identified as the main determinants of destination choice. The results also highlight strong digital-native behavior and social media influence among young tourists. Based on these findings, three thematic culinary routes were developed according to food categories, mealtime functions, and facility convenience. TAM evaluation produced a Perceived Usefulness score of 3.5 and a Perceived Ease of Use score of 3.7, indicating positive user acceptance. The study concludes that Google My Maps can effectively support innovative culinary tourism route planning while strengthening Medan City’s culinary identity.

Abstract

CHSE certification is one of the strategic policies set nationally by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. One of the hotels that has been certified CHSE is Hotel Sibayak Berastagi. The various dynamics after this hotel has obtained CHSE certification need to be considered, for example how the hotel adopts the latest rules in accordance with CHSE policies. The big question is how the hotel will go further in implementing CHSE regarding the existing environmental conditions around it. So the purpose of this study is to analyze the steps for implementing CHSE including seeing how the adoption of related policies and environmental conditions; as well as to analyze the challenges and solutions made by the hotel in implementing CHSE. The method used is qualitative with an interactive approach, where data collection is carried out by observation and interviews with hotel management. The results showed that Hotel Sibayak Berastagi has consistently implemented CHSE and is adaptive to new rules in the application of health protocols. Even in terms of security, Hotel Sibayak Berastagi is also active in informing about the status of the Sinabung volcano through its website. Some of the challenges faced are ensuring employee discipline in the use of PPE and awareness of guests to use masks at this time. Various alternative solutions are offered, starting from improving the mechanism, providing quality PPE for employees to offering free masks for guests of the Sibayak Berastagi Hotel so that they are disciplined in maintaining health protocols.
