Abstract

Perumnas Way Halim Market is the first Indonesian National Standard market in Lampung Province. Market analysis was carried out to find business opportunities and potential that could be exploited, in terms of products sold or market structure. Red cayenne pepper has potential because it is a product that is unique that follows trends and high product demand. However, the obstacles faced by this product are fluctuating prices and product supplies being influenced by the weather. This research aimed to analyze marketing channels and market share, market structure, and market structure efficiency. This research used a non-probability sampling approach with the judgmental sampling method. The analysis method consists of four indicators; they are market share, Concentration Ratio for Biggest Four (CR4), Hirschman Herfindal Index (IHH), and Gini coefficient. The research results showed that there are 7 marketing channels with 3 to 4 marketing institutions in each channel. The largest market share is owned by 3 market players with sales of 90 kg/month each. The results of the four indicators analyzed from the red cayenne pepper market at Perumnas Way Halim Market indicated an oligopoly market structure. Market efficiency analyzed using indicators of market concentration, product differentiation, market entry and exit barriers and market information revealed a more efficient market structure.

Abstract

Diperlukan peningkatan kapasitas petani melalui penerapan teknologi budidaya sesuai prinsip Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), optimalisasi alokasi input produksi, serta penguatan kelembagaan petani. Upaya optimalisasi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan produktivitas dan keuntungan usahatani ubi kayu secara berkelanjutan di wilayah penelitian.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the culinary sector in Purbolinggo District are facing internal challenges, such as limited capital, business skills, and minimal promotion, as well as external challenges, including market competition and low adaptation to technology. Bank BTPN Syariah, through the Bestee program, is providing solutions in the form of financing and business assistance, including training in financial recording, promotion strategies, and brand identity development. This study aims to analyze the costs, revenues, and incomes of culinary MSMEs, to measure income improvement after assistance, and to formulate development strategies using the SWOT and Business Model Canvas (BMC) approaches. The study is conducted using purposive sampling with seven respondents who are Bank BTPN Syariah clients engaged in culinary businesses. Data analysis consists of cost, revenue, and income calculations, as well as income differences before and after the assistance program. Furthermore, IFAS (Internal Factor Analysis Summary) and EFAS (External Factor Analysis Summary) analyses are used to develop the SWOT matrix. The results show that the average monthly income of culinary MSMEs is IDR 3,728,589 with an R/C ratio of 1.5 and a B/C ratio of 0.5, indicating that the business is profitable. After receiving assistance, income increases by 11.82%. Based on SWOT analysis, MSMEs are positioned in Quadrant I with a Strength–Opportunity (SO) strategy, which is to develop product and service variations, establish partnerships with fresh raw material suppliers, and build a simple distribution system. Evaluation through the BMC indicates that MSMEs have great potential to grow by determining appropriate market segments, offering value that meets consumer needs, and utilizing digital technology for wider and more effective distribution and marketing.

Abstract

The increase in rice production in river basins (DAS) often faces challenges in the form of a decline in land quality due to land erosion and soil structure degradation that has an impact on farmers' harvests. One of the approaches that is beginning to be developed to overcome this problem is the soil bioengineering technique, which is a vegetation-based soil conservation method that aims to resist erosion and improve the physical condition of the land naturally. This research aims to: (1) analyze the cost, receipt and income of rice farming in the Tulusrejo Village Watershed, (2) analyze the comparison of costs, production and income between soil bioengineering farmers, and (3) analyze the factors of rice production and the influence of soil bioengineering on rice production, (4) analyze the elasticity of rice production. The research was carried out in Tulus Rejo Village, Pekalongan District using the cluster random sampling method on 37 rice farmers in river basins (DAS). The data was analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk, Mann-Whitney U test and the Cobb-Douglas linear regression model. The research results show that the implementation of soil bioengineering causes significant differences in total costs, production and income between the two groups of farmers. In addition, based on the regression results, it is known that the variables of land area, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides have a real effect on rice production, while soil bioengineering does not have a significant statistical effect. This finding indicates that the implementation of production inputs and the implementation of soil bioengineering techniques are effective in increasing rice production and are suitable for implementation as an environmentally friendly and sustainable land conservation strategy. The production elasticity value of 1,176 shows the condition of increasing return to scale, which means that the addition of production inputs proportionally will increase rice production output proportionally.

Abstract

Broiler chicken farming plays an important role in providing high-quality and affordable animal protein, but this business faces challenges in the form of market competition, rising input prices, and falling selling prices, which can lead to losses. This study aims to calculate the costs, revenues, and profits of the business, analyze its financial feasibility, and assess the sensitivity of the broiler chicken business in Mandah Village with respondents who are independent and in partnerships. The results show that the independent model requires costs of IDR 778,185,000/year with revenues of IDR 618,440,000/year and profits of IDR 27,015,500/year, with an NPV of IDR 124,236,361 (>0), IRR of 14.5% (>6%), Net B/C of 1.43 (>1), and Payback Period of 1 year 7 months 27 days, making it feasible to operate. In the partnership model, the costs incurred are Rp3,911,100,000/year with revenues of Rp4,392,720,000/year and profits of Rp211,652,200/year, with an NPV analysis result of IDR 1,366,774,532 (>0), IRR of 37% (>6%), Net B/C of 2.78 (>1), and Payback Period of 5 months and 28 days, indicating that the business is very feasible to develop. Sensitivity analysis shows that both business models become unfeasible if there is a 17% increase in feed prices and a 5% decrease in selling prices. However, based on switching value, the independent model is still viable with a 5% increase in feed prices and a 2% decrease in selling prices, while the partnership model remains viable up to a 7% increase in feed prices and a 4% decrease in selling prices. Thus, both broiler chicken business models are viable, despite having different levels of risk to changes in input and output prices.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influences of the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on rainfall in three districts in South Aceh. The analysis was undertaken using Dipole Mode Index (DMI) data and five years of rainfall (2016 to 2020) in West Labuhan Haji, Tapak Tuan, and Bakongan areas. This research employed a correlation analysis and the Principal Component Analysis, followed by Cluster Analysis to investigate the relationship between IOD and rainfall at the study location. The negative IOD occurred in 2016, and the positive IOD occurred in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. The strongest positive DMI was in October 2019 (1.123C), while the strongest negative DMI was in July 2016 (0.661C). Generally, the sub-districts of West Labuhan Haji, Tapak Tuan, and Bakongan always have high rainfall. The highest rainfall in West Labuhan Haji was recorded in January 2017 (1014 mm/month), in Tapak Tuan in November 2017 (1073 mm/month), and in Bakongan in July 2020 (605 mm/month). The correlation between DMI and rainfall in the three locations shows different findings. Although it was very small, the IOD affected the rainfall in West Labuhan Haji, Tapak Tuan, and Bakongan. In West Labuhan Haji, the highest correlation was in lag 1 (0.188); in Tapak Tuan, the highest correlation was in lag 2 (0.156), while in Bakongan, the highest correlation was in lag 2 (-0.191). The correlations in these three locations are considered weak. Thus, the IOD is not the main factor affecting the rainfall in West Labuhan Haji, Tapak Tuan, and Bakongan. As South Aceh is located in windward, the orographic effect may influence high rainfall in this region. Keywords:DMIRainfallPrincipal component AnalysisWest Labuhan HajiTapak TuanBakongan
