Abstract

Saran kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat selanjutnya adalah materi yang berkaitan dengan praktik MPASI dan pola asuh sehingga dapat berkesinambungan dalam optimalisasi tumbuh kembang terutama dalam 1.000 HPK.Abstract: Infancy, particularly within the 0–12 month age range, is a golden period of development that significantly determines the future quality of human resources. One recommended form of stimulation that can be performed directly by mothers is infant massage, which has been proven to provide both physiological and psychosocial benefits for infants and parents alike. However, limited access to practical education in primary health care facilities has led many mothers to feel unconfident in performing infant massage independently. This community service activity aimed to enhance mothers' knowledge and skills in infant massage through an educational approach and hands-on practice based on andragogy principles. The activity was conducted on June 21, 2025, at Banyuanyar Public Health Center, Surakarta City, involving 12 mothers with infants aged 0–12 months. The methods included interactive lectures, demonstrations of infant massage techniques, distribution of educational modules, and small group practice sessions with facilitator assistance. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-tests, as well as participatory observation. Results showed an increase in participants’ average knowledge scores from 55 to 77.5, with 11 out of 12 participants showing improved scores. Additionally, active engagement during practical sessions indicated the effectiveness of experiential approaches in boosting mothers’ confidence. In providing stimulation for growth and development through baby massage, a suggested follow-up for community service activities is to include topics related to complementary feeding (MPASI) practices and parenting patterns, so that efforts to optimize growth and development can be sustained, particularly during the critical period of the first 1,000 days of life.

Abstract

Background: Physical and psychological changes during the postpartum period can cause stress and fatigue in mothers that can affect the care of individuals, families, and their babies. The long-term impact of postpartum fatigue is the cessation of lactation, the development of stress, and postpartum depression. Nonpharmacological efforts in the form of pilates exercises and lavender aromatherapy are one of the efforts to reduce fatigue levels in postpartum mothers. This study aimed to determine the effect of pilates exercises and lavender aromatherapy on fatigue in postpartum mothers in the Andong Health Center work area. Subjects and Method: This study was a quasi-experimental, control group pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and as many as 32 postpartum mothers who experienced fatigue were involved in this study. This study was divided into 2 groups, namely the experimental group with the provision of pilates exercises and lavender aromatherapy, and the control group without treatment as a comparison. The independent variables of this study were pilates exercises and lavender aromatherapy. The dependent variable was postpartum maternal fatigue. The data analysis used is the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney test. Results: Analysis using the Mann-Whitney statistical test showed significant results with test results (p-value <0.05). From these results, it was found that there was a significant difference in the respondents of the experimental posttest group and the control posttest group.   Conclusion: Pilates exercise and lavender aromatherapy have an effect on the level of fatigue reduction in postpartum mothers in the experimental pretest-posttest group in the Andong Health Center work area. This study is expected to remind all postpartum women to take better care of their physical and mental health, to be able to independently perform Pilates exercises according to the given procedures, and to independently apply the use of lavender aromatherapy.

Abstract

Perinatal mental health disorders, especially depression and anxiety, are prevalent among women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Indonesia. These conditions can affect both maternal well-being and child development. This systematic review aimed to identify and synthesize key risk factors associated with perinatal mental health disorders among women in Indonesia. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar for quantitative studies published between 2015 and 2024. Inclusion criteria included studies involving pregnant or postpartum women in Indonesia, using quantitative designs, and reporting on risk factors for depression and/or anxiety. The review followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines.  Data extraction and screening were conducted manually by reviewers. Out of 434 identified records, six studies met inclusion criteria. Most employed cross-sectional designs and focused on sociodemographic, psychosocial, obstetric, and psychological factors. Common risk factors included young maternal age, low education, unstable employment, lack of social support, and history of mental illness. Several studies also identified low mental health literacy and poor maternal-fetal attachment as contributing factors. The included studies were mostly cross-sectional, limiting causal inference. This review highlights the need for routine mental health screening, greater provider training, and community-based interventions in maternal health care. Future research should prioritize longitudinal designs and assess the effectiveness of policy implementation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting is a health problem in toddlers characterized by height below the standard and delayed cognitive development as a result of chronic malnutrition. One of the contributing factors is inappropriate complementary feeding (CF) practices, in terms of timing, type, texture, and feeding frequency. A lack of maternal knowledge is a key factor underlying these inappropriate practices. This community service activity aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge regarding appropriate complementary feeding to support optimal child growth and development and to prevent stunting. The method was carried out through CF education, accompanied by examples of local menus and tips on food texture according to the child’s age, and concluded with a discussion. The target participants of this activity were 35 mothers of infants aged 6–12 months. Based on the pre-test results, the average maternal knowledge score was 7.8, which increased to 8.4 after the educational intervention. The results indicate an improvement in knowledge gained through participatory education in the complementary feeding class. It is expected that future activities will be complemented by long-term assistance, periodic evaluation of children’s nutritional status, and expanded research coverage that includes maternal behavior and involves a control group.

Abstract

Baby massage can improve sleep quality and stimulate growth and development. The application of baby massage by mothers is still rare and not common because the training provided has not yet become a culture in society, even though baby massage by mothers can reduce symptoms of anxiety, and depression, increase bonding and attachment, and optimize the breastfeeding process. One effort to improve baby massage behavior is with parent classes for baby massage. This activity aims to provide mothers with experience in practicing baby massage regularly over 5 meetings guided by a certified instructor. The result of community service is that mothers feel confident in doing baby massages independently. The parent class for baby massage activity is expected to become a routine program for every baby mother, such as classes for pregnant women to achieve optimal maternal and child health.

Abstract

Breast milk or breast milk is the main food source for babies up to 6 months old. Exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months of a baby's life has many benefits for the baby, one of which is boosting the immune system. According to data from Riskesdas, in 2018 only 37.3% of babies received exclusive breastfeeding. The failure of exclusive breastfeeding is one of the reasons for the lack of knowledge of mothers about how to breastfeed properly and correctly which can cause breastfeeding problems. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about breastfeeding management including correct breastfeeding techniques, expressed breast milk, breast problems, and solutions while breastfeeding. The service method is carried out by providing education, which begins with a pre-test, then materials and direct practice on how to breastfeed, and ends with a post-test. The result of the service activities is an increase in the knowledge of pregnant women related to correct breastfeeding techniques, breast milk (ASIP), breast problems, and solutions when breastfeeding from before and after education. The knowledge gained by pregnant women can be used as a provision to go through the breastfeeding process so that it can increase exclusive breastfeeding to the baby.
