Abstract

The decline in nurse performance significantly affects the service image of a hospital in the community. Poor nursing services lead to a lack of public confidence in the hospital's capabilities. The low quality of nursing services can be caused by many factors, such as the quality of nurses' working lives and burnout syndrome. High work handled by a few human resources will only result in a high workload and increased work stress. A conducive work environment not only helps nurses control stress but also allows them to improve their performance. Researchers aim to analyze the workload, work environment, and work stress on the performance of nurses. The number of samples used was 141 nurses who were willing to be respondents and not in a state that could affect data collection. The dependent variable is nurse performance, and the independent variables are workload, work environment, and work stress. Data was analyzed using the Chi-Square Analysis method with the SPSS 19.0 for Windows program. The results showed that the workload variable did not affect nurse performance, with a p-value of 0.513; the work environment variable affected nurse performance, with a p-value of 0.013; the work stress variable did not affect nurse performance, with a p-value of 0.484. The results indicate that the work environment is the only factor significantly associated with nurse performance among the variables examined. These findings suggest that interventions to improve nurse performance should prioritize optimizing the work environment. Work workload and work stress, as measured in this study, may not require targeted adjustments for performance enhancement.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems among teenagers necessitates effective, early intervention. The World Health Organization recommends schools as key sites for mental health promotion. However, the sustainability of these programs is often a significant challenge. Empowering teachers to handle students' emotional and behavioral issues is a critical strategy to improve program sustainability. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a school-based mental health program on teachers' abilities to manage students' emotional and behavioral problems. This study utilized a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 60 teachers from SMP Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa participated as the sample. Teachers' abilities were measured using a questionnaire before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of the school-based mental health program. Data were analyzed using a dependent t-test to compare the mean scores. A significant improvement in teachers' abilities was observed after the program. The mean ability score increased from 50.13 at pretest to 75.20 at posttest, representing a mean difference of 25.07 (a 50.01% increase). This increase was statistically significant (p < 0.001, with an alpha of 0.05). The school-based mental health program was effective and had a substantial influence on improving teachers' abilities to handle students' emotional and behavioral problems. These findings support teacher empowerment as a viable strategy for implementing and sustaining mental health programs in school setting. Abstract

Abstract

Nurses are healthcare professionals who play a vital role in delivering 24-hours nursing care. However, the high work pressure makes them vulnerable to work related stress and burnout, which can affect their level of resilience in providing nursing services. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between work-related stress and burnout and nurses resilience in providing nursing care in the inpatient ward of a general hospital in Medan. This study used a cross-sectional designwith quantitative analytic approach. A sample of 165 nurses was selected using purposive sampling from RSU Haji Medan and RSUD dr. Pirngadi Medan. Data were collected using the Expanded Nursing Stress Scale (ENSS), the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Data analysis  used  the  Chi-Square  test for bivariate analysis. The results showed that most nurses experienced varying levels of work stress and burnout, ranging from low to high. There is a significant association between work stress and resilience (p = 0.001) and between burnout and resilience (p = 0.001). In conclusion, work-related stress and burnout are significantly associated with nurses’ resilience. Hospital managerial interventions, such as stress coping training, psychological support, and resilience-building programs, are needed to maintain the quality of nursing care.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia. Efforts to control TB is still dealing with various challenges, including suboptimal early detection and high mortality rates due to this disease. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the TB control program with the DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-course) strategy at the Bebesen Health Center, Central Aceh Regency. Methods: The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving five key informants through in-depth interviews and field observations in Central Aceh Regancy. Results: The results of the study showed that the commitment of the policy maker was not optimal, the TB diagnosis process tended to be passive, drug monitoring (PMO) was inconsistent, and there were obstacles in non-OAT logistics. In addition, the recording and reporting system for treatment results needs to be improved. Analysis of these findings shows the need for increased political commitment, training for PMOs, and improvements in logistics and recording systems. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the TB control program at the Bebesen Health Center needs to be improved through comprehensive improvement steps in order to significantly reduce the number of TB cases in Central Aceh District.
