Abstract

This study aims to find out the overview of da'wah bil hal as an approach for proselytizing through actual actions or the role model from attitudes and behaviours represented in the religious film entitled "Merindu Cahaya de Amstel" by Hadrah Daeng Ratu. This research used the descriptive-analytic method to analyze the meaning of data in a movie using John Fiske's semiotic theory, which involve three levels, namely reality, including (1) appearance, costumes, environment, manner of speaking, gestures, and facial expressions; (2) representation, including, conflict, action and dialogue; and (3) ideology, the interpretations result of the fundamental level and representations categorized in social relations by ideological codes. The results showed that the da’wah bil hal approach in the movie "Merindu Cahaya de Amstel" was depicted through the appearance of the main character named Khadija, seen in her closed clothes (aurat). Besides, the way of speaking, gestures, and facial expressions revealed the personality of Muslims who are polite, helpful and have good respect for others. How Khadija's conflicts, actions, and dialogues are represented in this movie shows the characteristics of Muslims with a good character, balancing hablumminallah and hablumminannas, patience, devout worship, and always spreading usefulness. The practice of da'wah bil hal or proselytizing through the figure of Khadija, showed an ideology of religious humanism. The novelty of this research is the analysis of da’wah bil hal in a movie through the depiction of Muslim female characters applying Islamic values, including morals, trust, and worship.

Abstract

This study investigates the strategies and effectiveness of digital da'wah implemented by the Hijabers Community Medan, emphasizing women's empowerment through new media. Recognizing the urgency of understanding innovative religious communication methods in the digital age, particularly those targeting Muslim women, this research adopts a qualitative case study approach. Employing purposive sampling, eight key informants including community leaders, da'wah experts, and media specialists were selected to provide diverse perspectives. Primary data were gathered through semi-structured in-depth interviews, participatory observations conducted over six months, and content analysis focusing explicitly on the community's Instagram posts from the past year. Data validity was ensured through methodological triangulation, an audit trail documenting the research process, and rich, contextual descriptions. The analytical framework integrated Henry Jenkins' new media theory, Paulo Freire's empowerment theory, and Everett Rogers' diffusion of innovation theory to explore the dynamics of digital participation, empowerment, and innovation adoption within religious communities. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, employing NVivo software for systematic coding and thematic categorization. Findings reveal that the Hijabers Community Medan employs diverse digital strategies such as persuasive storytelling, visually engaging microblogs, and structured messaging via social platforms, fostering active community participation and enhancing women's religious identity. Despite these successes, challenges emerged including internal communication conflicts, inconsistent member engagement, and external misconceptions regarding their ideological stance. Critically, this study identifies the need for deeper empirical evaluation of digital strategies’ impact. The Inclusive Digital Da'wah Model of Hijabers Medan (DID-HM) proposed from these findings requires further validation through extended quantitative and comparative research to ascertain its broader applicability and effectiveness.

Abstract

The implementation of an agency's work obligations depends in large part on communication. The application of Islamic communication is thought to be capable of aiding in the development of a positive communication environment with Islamic ideals. The BPSDM of North Sumatra Province did not implement qaulan sadida in the best possible way at the Regional Apparatus Forum. The compilation of work plans becomes tedious from year to year and is often unresponsive to pressing difficulties since the information and data provided, both from message elements and feedback elements, are frequently inaccurate. Living modestly and without excess is a component of Qaulan Maysura that has been put into practice. Islamic advice and communication have a significant part in fostering a collaborative work environment. This serves as the framework for a method that can foresee every issue that can arise during the coordination process and handle it through to the point of accountability for the work done.

Abstract

The Asahan Regency is home to numerous ethnic and religious groups. This treasure of religious diversity continues to be a source of discord among the populace. Using a communication model based on Islamic education, the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) in Asahan Regency aims to maintain harmony among individuals. This study seeks to examine the religious communication model of FKUB Asahan District, its results in fostering inter-religious harmony among the people of Asahan District, and its impact on fostering inter-religious harmony in Asahan District. According to the findings of the study, the communication model of the Asahan Regency Religious Harmony Forum can be categorized into two situations: the normal situation, which involves socializing and approaching community leaders, religious leaders, and local government officials, and the conflict situation, which involves mediating between conflicting parties. This communication model can prevent human-to-human conflict or quickly resolve existing conflicts, although it does not guarantee the end of human-to-human conflict. This communication model is hindered by a lack of institutional funds to maximize communication, a lack of human resources, and a lack of public time to educate on religious harmony.
