Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid, practical, and effective STAD-based cooperative e-comic medium to improve the conceptual understanding of science material among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Penglatan. The research problem stems from students’ low conceptual understanding, teaching that remains teacher-centered, and the use of media that lacks variety and does not yet optimally utilize technology. This study is a research and development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model. The research subjects included 2 content experts, 2 media experts, 2 teachers, and 25 fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Penglatan, with the research object being the STAD-based cooperative e-comic medium. Product validation was conducted by content and media experts, while the practicality test involved teachers and students through individual and small-group tests. Data collection methods included questionnaires and tests with quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results indicate that the e-comic media has a very high level of validity, with a percentage of 96% (subject matter experts) and 95% (media experts). The practicality of the media received an average of 97% from teachers, as well as 94% in individual and small-group tests, categorized as very practical. The results of the effectiveness test showed an increase in the average score from 44.00 on the pretest to 84.20 on the posttest, with a significance value of the paired sample t-test of 0.000 (< 0.05) and an N-Gain value of 0.74 (effective category). Thus, the STAD-based cooperative e-comic medium is deemed valid, practical, and effective for improving students’ understanding of IPAS concepts.

Abstract

Global educational practitioners and policymakers consider student learning outcomes as a pressing concern. In this regard, the joint activities of the school, the parents, and the educators are highly important to the student’s academic success. This research aims to investigates the simultaneous effects of parental involvement, school climate, and teacher morale on student learning achievement. For this purpose, a quantitative method was applied through a survey research design. Out of 10 suburban elementary schools in Buleleng District, a sample of 219 fifth graders were estahlished. The instruments related to parental support, school environment, and teacher’s morale were used in three different questionnaires, whereas the information about student learning achievement was acquired through their academic transcripts. The detailed obtained data were analyzed using inferential statistical methods with the SPSS version 21 software program. The result has shown that parental support, school environment, and teacher morale simultaneously affect the student’s learning achievement. This finding underscores that a child’s performance depends on integrating different factors. Creating and maintaining collaborative networks is essential for driving change in educational settings. This collaboration plays a vital role in supporting all aspects of a child’s development—cognitive, emotional, and social. At the outset, parents provide valuable insights into their child’s strengths, challenges, and learning preferences. This information enables teachers to adapt their teaching strategies to better suit each child’s unique needs, resulting in a more effective and personalized learning experience.

Abstract

This development research was conducted to address the problem of low learning outcomes among sixth-grade students, which was caused by the limited use of innovative and interactive instructional media. The objectives of this study were to: (1) describe the design of the instructional video; (2) determine its validity; (3) examine its practicality; and (4) evaluate its effectiveness. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest design and the 4D development model. The subject of this research was the instructional video, with 35 sixth-grade students involved in the field trial. The objects of the study included the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the instructional video. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. The results showed that: (1) the study successfully developed a problem-based learning instructional video on the topic of the impact of human activities on the environment; (2) the material expert validation obtained an average score of 4.6 (very good category), and the media expert validation obtained an average score of 4.8 (very good category); (3) the average practicality score from the teacher practitioner was 4.70 and from students was 4.67 (both in the very good category); and (4) the effectiveness test indicated a significance value (2-tailed) < 0.05, meaning that H₁ was accepted and H₀ was rejected. This indicates that the problem-based learning instructional video is effective in improving students’ learning outcomes. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the developed instructional video is appropriate for use as a more engaging and interactive learning medium capable of improving students’ learning outcomes.
