Abstract

This study aims to understand the partnership model between sugarcane farmers and PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri in Bombana Regency and to analyze the factors that influence sugarcane farmers' decisions to participate in the partnership with PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri. The research was conducted from June 2021 to June 2024, involving a sample of 48 farmers, comprising 19 partner farmers and 29 non-partner farmers, determined using Slovin's formula. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The partnership model between sugarcane farmers and PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri was examined using descriptive qualitative analysis with the approach of Miles and Huberman (2014). To analyze the factors influencing the decision of sugarcane farmers to join the partnership with PT. Jhonlin Batu Mandiri, binary logistic regression analysis was employed. The results of the study indicate that: Partnership patterns between sugarcane farmers and PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri follows the nucleus-plasma pattern. In this pattern, the land used is owned by the plasma farmers. The nucleus company, PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri, provides production facilities, technical management guidance, assistance with land preparation, provision of seedlings, fertilizers, harvesting labor, and takes on the processing and marketing of the production. The partner farmers are responsible for meeting the company's needs as agreed upon in the contract or agreement. The factors influencing the decisions of sugarcane farmers to join the partnership with PT Jhonlin Batu Mandiri are primarily the size of their land and capital limitations. Other factors, such as age, length of education, farming experience, and the use of agricultural technology, do not significantly impact their decision to enter into the partnership

Abstract

Climate change occurs due to changes in climate elements such as wind, air humidity, temperature and rainfall. Climate change is caused by natural events and human activities, which threaten the agricultural sector and food security, impacting humans and crops. The affected agricultural sector, including the horticulture subsector, experienced a decline in production and farmer income. One of the affected horticultural commodities is cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.), which is important for fulfilling people's nutrition. This research aims to: (1) Find out the productivity of cayenne pepper in Southeast Sulawesi Province, and (2) Analyze the effect of rainfall on the productivity of cayenne pepper in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The data used in this research is secondary data, obtained from the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Plantation and Horticulture Service and the Southeast Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The data in this study were analyzed using simple regression. The research results show that the productivity of cayenne pepper in Southeast Sulawesi Province from 1993-2023 is 29,784 Ku/Ha, varying from year to year. The estimation results of the regression equation model show that rainfall has no effect on cayenne pepper productivity

Abstract

Russula Pers. (Basidiomycota) is recognized as one of the most widely distributed macrofungi globally. This genus includes several edible species with distinct color variations, such as R. cyanoxantha. However, in Indonesia, knowledge of this species remains limited as colourful mushrooms are often mistakenly considered poisonous. During a fungus expedition in Southeast Sulawesi, we collected a green edible wild mushroom consumed by locals. Our study aimed to verify the taxonomic classification of our specimens through morphological and molecular analysis. The fresh basidiomata were examined based on their macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. Molecular analysis using ITS 1/2 sequences was conducted to construct a phylogenetic tree. Our findings identified the green mushroom as R. cyanoxantha (Schaeff.) Fr. (Synonym: R. lilacina). Morphologically, our specimens can be distinguished from R. virescens by their smooth cap. They differ from R. aeruginea and R. heterophylla by having flexible, persistent gills. Additionally, our R. cyanoxantha specimen BO24636 can be separated from R. dinghuensis and R. subpallidirosea by their forked gills near the stalk. A BLAST comparison revealed a 96% similarity to R. lilacina from Thailand as the closest match. The phylogenetic tree (Maximum Likelihood) placed our specimens within the R. lilacina group (BS value 99%). Our research contributes to the taxonomic understanding of this edible wild green macrofungi in Indonesia, and future studies should explore its nutritional composition.

Abstract

Abstract

Patchouli is a crop cultivated by most farmers in Sangia Tiworo Village. In addition to farming, they engage in other jobs to stabilize their household income. This strategy helps farmers meet their daily needs despite price fluctuations or the risk of crop failure in patchouli farming. This study aims to determine the household income of patchouli farmers and analyze their livelihood strategies in Sangia Tiworo Village, South Tiworo District, West Muna Regency. The data analysis methods used in this research are income analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. This study presents two main findings. First, the average income of patchouli farmers is IDR 8,069,241 per harvest (excluding the first harvest) or approximately IDR 2,017,310.25 per month. Second, patchouli farmers in Sangia Tiworo Village implement three main livelihood strategies. They engage in agricultural livelihood adaptation by opening new farmland. They also adopt a diversified livelihood pattern, which includes on-farm income (patchouli cultivation), off-farm income (producing palm sugar, livestock farming, and providing wood-cutting services), and non-farm income (selling basic groceries and snacks). Lastly, they apply spatial livelihood adaptation by migrating outside the village to sell the palm sugar they produce

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the contribution of local food to meeting the basic food needs of farming households in Laiba Village, Parigi District, Muna Regency. Furthermore, this research also analyzes the factors that influence local food consumption in farming households. The food commodities included in the model include three commodities including: rice, corn and cassava. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive analysis method and the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) model equation which is estimated using the R-Studio method. The results of this research show that 1) The contribution of corn and cassava in providing food for farming households is still small compared to rice, where corn is only consumed on average 1.0 days a week, and no one consumes cassava as a staple food. Rice is consumed on average 6.0 days a week. Corn is now the second staple food after rice, while cassava is only consumed as a snack or snack for farming households, and 2) Factors that have a real (significant) influence on corn consumption are family income and number of family members, while the demand for cassava and rice is influenced significantly by the number of family members.
