Abstract

The study was to determine the effect of organizational climate and compensation on the work motivation of daily journalists at the Online Journalists Association (IWO) in Medan. This research used a quantitative method, with a population of 152 journalists and a sample of the entire population, namely 152 daily journalists at the Online Journalists Association (IWO). The researcher used a total sampling technique. The results showed a significant influence between organizational climate and work motivation, as seen from the calculated t-value of 21.242 and the t-table of 1.976. The significance value was 0.000, or less than the alpha value of 0.025. This means that the organizational climate variable significantly influences journalists' work motivation, or the first hypothesis is accepted. The significant influence of compensation on work motivation is demonstrated by the calculated t-value of 7.301 and the t-table value of 1.976. A significance level of 0.000 is lower than the alpha value of 0.025. This indicates that compensation significantly influences employee work motivation. The first hypothesis is accepted, and there is a significant positive influence between organizational climate and compensation on work motivation, as seen from the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.630 with p = 0.000 < 0.050, indicating a 63.0% contribution of organizational climate and compensation to work motivation. These results are supported by the F-test, where the calculated F-value is greater than the F-table value, which is 992.749, and the F-table value is 3.06, with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.050.

Abstract

Transactional sex between men carries a high risk of transmitting sexually transmitted infections. This study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach through in-depth interviews with homosexual men engaged in transactional sex. Inclusion criteria included men aged 19–40 who were sexually active with heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual partners. Participants were adults at the time of recruitment but some reported having hinitiated sexual intercourse during adolescence (as early as age 13), reflecting on their earlier experiences. Data were obtained through observation and semi-structured interviews lasting 60–100 minutes per session. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results showed that multiple partners, a large number of partners, and the lack of personal protective measures, particularly condom use, were dominant factors that increased the risk of transmission and spread of sexually transmitted infections. Furthermore, transactional sex tended to occur without long-term commitment, thus reinforcing risky behavior patterns. These findings emphasize the importance of condom availability and use as primary prevention measures to reduce the risk of infection. This study highlights the urgency of education-based prevention strategies and health promotion for men who engage in same-sex sex. Therefore, increasing awareness about safe sex behavior is a crucial step in reducing vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections among this high-risk group.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning of self-acceptance and social belonging in the phenomenon of regional language shift among Generation Z in the Gayo region, Aceh Tengah. The declining use of the Gayo language among youth has been accelerated by globalization, modernization, digital media exposure, and the stigma that local languages are considered “outdated” in contemporary social interactions. Unlike previous sociolinguistic studies that emphasized structural and functional factors, this research adopts a psychological perspective by focusing on internal dynamics such as self-acceptance and social belonging. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, this study was conducted in Takengon, Aceh Tengah, involving three Generation Z participants aged 20–23 of Gayo ethnicity. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, behavioral observations, and documentation. Data analysis followed phenomenological procedures including horizonalization, theme clustering, and individual textural description. The findings reveal that although a functional shift toward Indonesian and foreign languages has occurred, participants generally demonstrate positive affective self-acceptance toward their ethnic identity. However, limited Gayo vocabulary and lack of fluency reduce their confidence when interacting with older native speakers, sometimes leading to feelings of inferiority or perceived out-group status in their own cultural setting. Social belonging among participants appears value-centric rather than linguistically centric, rooted in strong family ties and collective memory. Interestingly, digital Gayo-language content functions ambiguously: it strengthens symbolic belonging while simultaneously highlighting participants’ linguistic limitations. The study recommends the creation of safe linguistic spaces to support intergenerational language practice without judgment, fostering both self-acceptance and sustainable cultural continuity.

Abstract

Toxic positivity has increasingly drawn attention in modern workplaces, where the culture of always being positive often conceals employees’ emotional vulnerability. This study aims to develop and validate a toxic positivity scale in the Indonesian workplace context. A total of 558 participants were recruited for meeting inclusion criteria. The scale development began with 25 items validated by five psychology experts using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR), leaving 22 items for testing. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) using JASP revealed a single-factor structure with 16 items after controlling for negative wording effects. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using SmartPLS 4 confirmed the unidimensional structure with high reliability (α=0.982; AVE=0.690). Multi-Group Analysis (MGA) showed full invariance across gender but only configural and metric invariance across generations. These findings highlight the toxic positivity at work scale as a valid and reliable tool to identify the hidden risks of overly positive organizational cultures on employee well-being.

Abstract

According to Adler, living things are an inseparable social unit. They relate to the social cooperation around them, placing the general welfare ahead of their own desires, and achieving a stronger way of life within social organization. Adler made a major contribution to thinking, namely, firstly, he emphasized the social factor of behavior, secondly, the concept of self-creation, and thirdly, the characteristics of each personality. Adler further developed these main points so that they became the characteristics of Adlerian thought, namely: a) the purpose of life, b) the ego drive, c) feelings of inferiority, d) the societal impulse, e) lifestyle, and f) creative power. The basics of Alfred Adler's personality theory assume that individuals and their life problems are always social, such as belonging to other people and paying attention to the welfare of that person.
