Abstract

This research is motivated by the low early reading skills of children aged 4–6 years at RA Perwanida 2 Palembang, characterized by difficulties in recognizing letters and assembling simple syllables. The primary objective of this study is to determine the significant influence of using the Glenn Doman method on children's early reading abilities. The research method employed is quantitative with a Pre-Experimental design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest model. The research population included all students in class B1, totaling 19 children, with samples selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through structured observations and performance tests, then analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test via statistical software. The results showed a significant increase in reading ability, evidenced by the rise in the mean score from 52 in the pretest to 78 in the posttest. Statistically, a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 was obtained, which is lower than the significance level of 0.05, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This indicates that the Glenn Doman method, based on pictorial word cards, is effective in stimulating children's basic literacy development visually and enjoyably. Through repetitive and interactive stimulation, children became more enthusiastic, focused, and confident in pronouncing words. In conclusion, the Glenn Doman method has a positive impact and can serve as an innovative alternative learning strategy for teachers to improve the quality of early childhood reading skills. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Al-Baghdadi method in improving Qur’anic reading and writing skills (BTA) among students at TPA Al-Fitrah in Kenten Jaya Village, Banyuasin. This research employed a qualitative approach using observation and interviews as data collection techniques involving the TPA management, teachers (ustadzah), and students. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of the Al-Baghdadi method is carried out gradually through the introduction of hijaiyah letters and their articulation points (makhraj), providing reading examples by the teacher, imitation activities conducted collectively and individually, as well as practice in reading syllables and short verses. The application of this method was found to help improve students’ Qur’anic reading skills in a more structured manner. The study also identified several challenges in the learning process, including differences in students’ abilities, limited learning media, and unstable learning concentration among children. To address these challenges, teachers applied several strategies such as individualized guidance, variations in teaching methods, and providing motivation to students. Therefore, the Al-Baghdadi method can serve as an effective learning method to enhance Qur’anic reading and writing skills when implemented consistently and supported by appropriate instructional strategies aligned with students’ characteristics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pengembangan kemampuan motorik halus pada anak usia dini sebagai salah satu aspek perkembangan yang mendukung kesiapan anak dalam melakukan berbagai aktivitas seperti menulis, menggambar, menggunting, dan menempel. Berdasarkan observasi awal di TK Islam Terpadu Robbani Palembang, masih terdapat beberapa anak kelompok A yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengoordinasikan gerakan tangan dan mata, terutama pada kegiatan menggunting, menempel, serta aktivitas yang melibatkan keterampilan jari tangan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan motorik halus anak belum berkembang secara optimal sehingga diperlukan kegiatan pembelajaran yang menarik untuk menstimulasi perkembangan tersebut. Salah satu kegiatan yang dapat digunakan adalah bermain paper toys, yaitu permainan yang memanfaatkan kertas untuk dirangkai menjadi bentuk tiga dimensi melalui aktivitas menggunting, melipat, menempel, dan menyusun. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh bermain paper toys terhadap kemampuan motorik halus anak kelompok A di TK Islam Terpadu Robbani Palembang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 13 anak usia 4–5 tahun yang sekaligus dijadikan sebagai sampel penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi untuk mengetahui perkembangan kemampuan motorik halus anak sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan kemampuan motorik halus anak setelah diberikan perlakuan berupa kegiatan bermain paper toys. Nilai rata-rata kemampuan motorik halus anak pada saat posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai pretest, dan hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi < 0,05. Dengan demikian, kegiatan bermain paper toys berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan motorik halus anak.
