Abstract

Contextual strategies are suitable approaches for lower grade students. The purpose of this study was carried out to facilitate students in learning mathematics using contextual learning. The method used in this study is qualitative with a library research study approach, data collection techniques in this study include observation, and documentation. While the data analysis used is descriptive analysis. From the results of data analysis, it shows that contextual strategies and pajum media have a very close relationship in mathematics learning, especially for grade 1 elementary school children. Contextual strategies themselves must have real experience in implementing them. Therefore, when implementing it in grade 1 elementary school in mathematics learning, there must be a learning medium. Because at the age of 1st grade elementary school, it leads to Jean Piaget's theory in the concrete operational stage. Which is where this stage is a major turning point.

Abstract

IPS education and learning is one very important aspect that needs to be taught in schools. But in fact, one of the problems why social studies education is so difficult to integrate, one of which is the role of the teacher himself. In presenting the material, the teacher gave more lengthy lectures so that social studies learning was considered less interesting by students. As a result, this learning has a relatively small effect on increasing student understanding during the learning process and influencing student learning outcomes. One way that can be done by a teacher is by applying the singing method in the learning process. With this singing method, students can strengthen their memory of the material learned with songs, because something interesting and fun is easier to remember. This study uses quantitative research with library research data collection techniques (Library Research). The results of this study indicate that the singing method has an effect on student learning outcomes. Keywords: Singing Method, IPS, Learning Outcomes.

Abstract

Misconceptions can simply be defined as misunderstanding or misunderstanding. In misconception, there is a conflict or incompatibility between the concepts understood by a person and the concepts used by experts or specialists in that field of science. The occurrence of misconceptions in a person can be due to inaccurate understanding of concepts, use of incorrect concepts, incorrect classification of examples, confusion between different concepts, and incorrect relationship between concept hierarchies. The aim of this research is to examine or find out the results of the analysis of misconceptions in understanding plane material by applying Polya theory at PGMI 3 UINSU. This research uses observation methods and problem-solving tests to identify misconceptions that occur or arise when PGMI-3 students work on flat shape material with the application of polya theory. The results of this research show that there are several misconceptions involving understanding each step in Polya's theory. The steps are understanding, planning, implementing and assessing. The occurrence of misconceptions in Polya's theory mostly starts from the planning and implementation steps, where the symbols for a flat shape and also the cm symbol are not used in problems whose length or width is known. Most of the causes of this misconception are related to inaccurate understanding and lack of focus on the steps in Polya's theory. The mistake that many students make is the error in determining the steps of Polya's theory. The results provide important insights for curriculum development and more effective teaching approaches in understanding plane material by applying Polya's theory. This research also has implications in the broader context of mathematics education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Misconceptions can be defined as a situation where someone has a certain concept. Misconceptions can arise in students because they do not understand the concept of the question clearly, so that students will have difficulty solving the problem they are solving. Difficulties often arise when someone makes mistakes in the stages of solving the problem. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Descriptive research is used to see and describe current problems or facts that are revealed without any manipulation. This research aims to describe misconceptions in working on flat shape problems using polya theory that occur among PGMI 3 UIN North Sumatra students. The results of the research and discussions carried out show that there are several misconceptions, namely, (1) At the understanding stage it is not clear what is known whether it is a triangle or a square when writing the base and height, (2) At the implementation stage there is a lack of signs or units of Cm in L = 1/2. 8 x 6 = L = 24 It should be written like this L=1/2.8cm x 6cm = L = 24 cm, (3) In the assessment results there is also a lack of cm marks. (4) In this answer, there is a lack of writing points in the four stages contained in the polya theory, such as the absence of writing on understanding, planning, implementation and assessment, (5) There is a mistake at the assessment stage, namely that there are no sentences in the sentence written only the result alone is 40 cm. At this stage you should write a sentence like this, So the area of the rectangle = 40 cm. Therefore, it is hoped that this misconception will not happen again to PGMI 3 students or other students
