Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the misconceptions that occur in the operation of working on flat building materials that occur among PGMI 3 Semester 5 students at UIN North Sumatra. The polya theory model is learning that involves students being active, creative, and able to think logistically, critically and at a high level in conveying their ideas to solve mathematical problems they face every day. This research method is a descriptive method used to describe, describe, state a situation, or describe a situation or event to analyze the understanding of polya theory in solving flat shape material problems using an observation approach and test techniques. The subjects in this research were PGMI 3 Semester 5 students of UIN North Sumatra. In solving flat material problems using polya theory which shows the occurrence of misconceptions. This can be seen when students do not write unit signs and symbols because students do not remember and are not careful enough, students do not know the procedures for working on flat shapes using polya theory because students do not understand flat shape materials using polya theory.

Abstract

Al-Quran ialah mukjizat terbesar yang diterima nabi Muhammad SAW dengan keindahan dan keteraturan gaya bahasa di dalamnya yang tidak dapat ditandingi manusia manapun. Telah banyak dilakukan riset untuk mengungkapkan keindahan dan keteraturan gaya bahasa maupun angka yang ada di dalam Al-Quran. Riset ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola matematika yang ada di dalam surat Quraisy. Riset ini menggunakan riset deskriptif yang mengungkapkan pola matematika dalam surat Quraisy. Data yang digunakan merupakan angka yang menjadi penyusun ayat dalam surat Quraisy. Hasil riset mengungkapkan  stuktur matematika terkandung di dalam surat dan berhubungan dengan bilangan prima. Nilai numerik nama surat memiliki kelipatan 2 ke-305, nilai numerik ayat berjumlah 6052 merupakan kelipatan 2 ke-3026, hubungan huruf yang terpakai dan tidak terpakai dalam surat memiliki perbedaan 14 (kelipatan angka 2), penggabungan jumlah huruf tiap ayat menghasilkan kelipatan angka 2 ke-4.605.913, dan hasil perhitungan tiap huruf setiap ayat dalam surat menghasilkan kelipatan 2 ke- 555.555.611.666.672.800.000. Urutan surat dan jumlah keseluruhan surat dalam AL-Quran menghasilkan kelipatan 2 ke-57.053 dengan angka 114.106.

Abstract

The main focus of this research is the level of students' creative mathematical thinking abilities. This concern arises from students' struggles to master each indicator of creative thinking abilities. The study aims to assess the level of students' creative thinking abilities for each indicator within their creative mathematical thinking using the open-ended iPMRI approach, specifically targeting fifth-grade elementary students. This quantitative study employs a quasi-experimental design. The research population consists of 44 fifth-grade students from SD Negeri 105346 Aras Kabu. The sample was selected through random sampling to identify both the experimental and control groups. Data collection methods included questionnaires, tests administered to each student, and accompanying documentation. The research findings, based on the results of the sig value. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a t-count of 12.493 compared to the t-table value of 1.68595 at df 38, indicate that the t-count is significantly greater than the t-table value (t-count > t-table). This result leads to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of an open-ended based realistic mathematics learning approach significantly influences the creative mathematical thinking abilities of fifth-grade students at SD 105346 Aras Kabu, Beringin District, during the 2023/2024 academic year

Abstract

Contextual strategies are suitable approaches for lower grade students. The purpose of this study was carried out to facilitate students in learning mathematics using contextual learning. The method used in this study is qualitative with a library research study approach, data collection techniques in this study include observation, and documentation. While the data analysis used is descriptive analysis. From the results of data analysis, it shows that contextual strategies and pajum media have a very close relationship in mathematics learning, especially for grade 1 elementary school children. Contextual strategies themselves must have real experience in implementing them. Therefore, when implementing it in grade 1 elementary school in mathematics learning, there must be a learning medium. Because at the age of 1st grade elementary school, it leads to Jean Piaget's theory in the concrete operational stage. Which is where this stage is a major turning point.

Abstract

Salah satu hal yang berperan penting dalam pembelajaran matematika untuk mencapai hasil belajar adalah efikasi diri. Efikaasi diri ini dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan gender yang dapat mempengaruhi hasil belajar matematika. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hasil belajar matematika siswa materi geometri ditinjau dari kemampuan efikasi diri dan gender pada siswa kelas V SD. Jenis penelitian menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas V SD. Sampel penelitian diambil menggunakan teknik nonprobabilitas dengan metode sampel jenuh, yang berarti semua siswa kelas V SD yaitu 32 siswa, dengan 19 siswa perempuan dan 13 siswa laki-laki. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan angket dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar matematika antara siswa perempuan dan siswa laki-laki, di mana siswa perempuan memiliki nilai yang lebih tinggi daripada siswa laki-laki. Namun, perbedaan ini tidak signifikan secara statistik. Selanjutnya, pengujian uji F Simultan menunjukkan bahwa pada pretes didapatkan nilai fhitung samadengan 1,267 dengan nilai sig. 0,297 lebih dari 0,05, dan pada postes didapatkan nilai fhitung samadengan 1,479 dengan nilai sig. 0,245 lebih dari 0,05. Simpulan penelitian terdapat hubungan antara pengaruh hasil belajar matematika dan efikasi diri secara simultan jika dilihat dari segi gender.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi mahasiswa dalam operasi deret aritmatika, khususnya di kelas PGMI 3 UIN Sumatera Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan Certainty of Response Index. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menggunakan rumus, penjumlahan deret, dan pola urutan operasi matematika yang tidak sesuai. Faktor penyebab miskonsepsi melibatkan kurangnya pemahaman konsep dasar deret aritmatika, kesulitan mengaitkan konsep dasar dengan tingkat kesulitan yang lebih tinggi, penggunaan rumus yang tidak tepat, dan kurangnya latihan pengerjaan soal. Upaya pembelajaran yang lebih efektif, latihan yang cukup, dan penekanan pada pemahaman konsep dasar diharapkan dapat membantu mengatasi miskonsepsi tersebut.

Abstract

Deductive reasoning ability is a reasoning skill that every student should possess in mathematics learning because it helps develop a systematic way of thinking in solving problems, particularly in the topic of circle circumference. However, in reality, many students still face difficulties in understanding this material. This study aims to identify students' abilities in performing calculations related to circle circumference and to assess their level of deductive reasoning. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the subjects being sixth-grade students of MIN 7 Kota Medan, totaling 24 students who were then divided into three groups. The research subjects were selected using purposive sampling. The results show that students with a high level of deductive reasoning, coded as subject S1, achieved all indicators of deductive reasoning ability; students with a moderate level, coded as subject S2, met two indicators; and students with a low level, coded as subject S3, met only one indicator. The conclusion is that the higher a student's deductive reasoning ability, the more proficient they are in solving circle circumference problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of fractional domino learning media on the mathematical communication skills of second-grade elementary school students. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically a nonequivalent control group design. The experimental group received the treatment, while the control group did not. The sample consisted of 58 second-grade students from MIN 4 Kota. Two data collection techniques were used in this study: observation and a mathematical communication ability test. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, followed by normality and homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using independent sample t-tests. The results indicated that fractional domino learning media positively affected students’ mathematical communication abilities, as evidenced by the average post-test score of 14.66 for the experimental group and 11.31 for the control group. The hypothesis test yielded a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001, which was smaller than the α level of 0.05, indicating a significant difference in post-test scores between the experimental and control groups. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of fractional dominoes enhances the mathematical communication skills of second-grade elementary school students.
