Abstract

This research aims to analyze the communication strategy applied by the Aek Libung Village government in an effort to develop the natural attractions of Aek Sijorni, Sayurmatinggi District, South Tapanuli Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a field study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the village government's communication strategy was carried out through two approaches, namely formal and informal communication. Formal communication is realized in the form of coordination meetings, preparation of information modules, study tours, event cooperation, and distribution of promotional cards and brochures. Meanwhile, informal communication is carried out through social media-based digital promotions and mutual cooperation activities involving the community. Supporting factors for this strategy are Aek Sijorni's attractive natural potential and the use of information technology. The inhibiting factors include low community participation, inadequate road access, and dependence on natural conditions. The findings of this study show that the integration of formal and informal communication can increase the effectiveness of promotion and community participation. This research also contributes to the development of organizational communication theory in the context of village tourism.

Abstract

Purpose – Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengulas tentang strategi komunikasi pemerintah dalam mengkontruksi citra kota Batam Sebagai Bandar Dunia Madani, khususnya strategi komunikasi Pemerintah dalam mengkontruksi citra kota presfektif teori Lynch dengan lima elemennya.Method – Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang berbentuk lapangan atau field research. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fenomena dan dinamika strategi komunikasi yang dilakukan oleh Pemerintah Kota Batam di tengah masyarakat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode wawancara dengan Walikota dan kepala dinas terkait. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis data kualitatif.Result – Pemerintah kota Batam menerapkan 2 (dua) klasifikasi strategi komunikasi, yakni human communication dan Media communication. Strategi komunikasi manusia terdiri dari government public relations, Walikota menerapkan semua Aparat Sipil Pemerintahan (ASN) adalah public relations agent selanjutnya menggunakan kelompok masyarakat dalam berbagai komponen dengan mitra dan pemangku kepentingan seluruh perangkat daerah Kota Batam. Strategi komunikasi media dilakukan melalui media cetak, media elektronik, media baru dan media luar ruang. Realisasi pencapaian visi dan misi yakni tercapainya indeks pembangunan manusia, terciptanya kota layak anak dan pembangunan infrastruktur yang massif serta pembagian insentif kepada masyarakat. Sinergitas terlihat dari elemen pentahelix kota Batam antara lain, Pemerintah, Pengusaha, Akademisi, Media dan Komunitas (masyarakat) dalam memberi support penuh dengan pembangunan yang dilakukan Walikota tanpa menghilangkan akar budaya melayu yang madani..Implication – Pemerintah Kota Batam dalam mengkontruksi Citra Kota tanpa menghilangkan sentuhan budaya Melayu dan menyesuaikan strategi komunikasinya dengan komunikasi kemanusiaan dan komunikasi media yang menyentuh semua aspek masyarakat, sehingga pengkonstruklsian citra kota berjalan dengan lancar. Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of dakwah management functions in fostering the moral character (akhlaq al-karimah) of foster children at Mamiyai Orphanage, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. Using a qualitative field research approach involving interviews, observation, and documentation, the study found that management functions—planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and evaluating—were systematically applied. Dakwah activities such as routine worship practices, moral guidance, and involvement in social activities effectively contributed to character development. While adequate facilities and community support served as strengths, challenges such as low learning motivation among children and the negative influence of digital technology emerged as obstacles in the characterbuilding process

Abstract

Transformasi digital telah mendorong Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) untuk mengadopsi strategi pemasaran baru berbasis media sosial guna membangun brand awareness secara lebih efektif dan efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan TikTok sebagai media pemasaran digital oleh UMKM @shafaanekasnacks dalam membangun brand awareness di tengah persaingan pasar yang kompetitif. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi aktivitas akun TikTok @shafaanekasnacks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa @shafaanekasnacks menerapkan strategi konten video pendek yang konsisten dan terstruktur, serta didukung oleh fitur-fitur platform seperti hashtag, sound, dan live streaming. Strategi ini terbukti mampu menarik perhatian, membangun minat, mendorong pencarian informasi, serta menciptakan interaksi aktif dan rekomendasi organik dari konsumen, sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam kerangka AISAS. Meski demikian, penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi sejumlah hambatan, seperti keterbatasan teknis dalam editing konten, minimnya sumber daya manusia, ketidakpastian algoritma TikTok, persaingan yang ketat, serta kekhawatiran dalam memanfaatkan fitur iklan berbayar. Studi ini menegaskan pentingnya konsistensi, perencanaan konten, serta peningkatan literasi digital untuk memperkuat efektivitas TikTok sebagai media pemasaran strategis bagi UMKM di era digital.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the controversy surrounding content produced by feminine male Instagram celebrities in Aceh, being perceived to conflict with the region's cultural and religious values. These influencers create content by dressing in women's clothing, using feminine accessories, and adopting female speech patterns. Despite this, their endorsements are widely used by businesses in Aceh, including by a local university. This shows that the feminine brand they have cultivated has successfully attracted an audience, even though the content itself contradicts established cultural and religious values. The content is fully commodified to gain financial profit. The method used in this research was virtual ethnography with four levels of data analysis: media space, media documents, media objects, and experiences. Additional data were obtained through interviews with two cultural figures and two religious leaders to strengthen the findings. The results of the study indicated that the content uploaded by these feminine male celebrities undermines Acehnese cultural values and violates Islamic religious values. The content shows a shift in original gender roles from male to female. This phenomenon of feminine male content is considered an identity crisis among Instagram celebrities, who can influence others through the content they produce. From a religious perspective, this content can damage the foundation of life, as seen in the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad that prohibits men from dressing and appearing as women. Furthermore, the financial profits obtained are considered haram (unlawful) because the process of earning the money is not permitted by Islam.

Abstract

This article examines the Batang Pungkut river ban hole in Mandailing Natal district, an ethnic Mandailing tradition that contains local wisdom in managing the environment. The urgency of this phenomenon is researched because environmental problems are a common (global) problem and are seen as a threat to collective survival. The research question consists of four questions: how is the communication strategy of preservation, opening of the Lubuk Larangan, and communication barriers in preservation and opening, and what impact do residents feel due to the Lubuk Larangan? The research approach used is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used is Robert Cox's environmental communication strategy, with relevant supporting theories, and reviewed through the perspective of Islamic communication. The results concluded that the communication strategies used were persuasive, educative, and coercive. The communication strategy used refers to the value of local wisdom poda na lima (five wise advice), dalihan na tolu (kinship system), and the value of Islamic communication values, namely communicating clearly (qaulan matsuran) and in delivering messages in communication and being gentle (qaulan balighan). Lubuk larangan is managed in stages, starting from identification, planning, production, and evaluation, and is relevant to Robert Cox's environmental communication strategy. The obstacles faced are unlicensed mining, fish theft, environmentally unfriendly fishing gear, internal organizational dynamics, and community awareness. The novelty of the research lies in the presence of transcedental (divine) aspects in the communication strategy applied, and serves as a guideline to maintain their hope. The impacts residents feel are ecological, socio-cultural, economic, and religious. In addition to providing local impacts, this tradition simultaneously impacts the global community.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication has a significant impact on the high rate of marriage among teenagers. This research aims to see the role of interpersonal communication in early marriage in forming a happy and prosperous family in Medan Belawan Village. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documents. The results showed that early marriages tend to be based on people with middle to lower economic conditions; interpersonal communication is essential in forming a happy and prosperous family. Effective communication between husband and wife is the primary key to understanding the needs, expectations, and values that underlie family relationships, especially in early marriage relationships.

Abstract

Indonesia possesses abundant natural and cultural resources supporting sustainable tourism development, including Tangkahan ecotourism and Halal tourism, which require an integrated communication strategy and community participation. This study examines the implementation of the communication strategy by the Langkat Tourism Office through the theories of Communication Strategy and Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) to enhance the attractiveness of Tangkahan and raise public awareness of sustainable tourism. This research employs a qualitative case study method with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation, analyzed through data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity is tested using source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the communication strategy in developing Tangkahan tourism applies the 4A 1P approach, digital promotion, service improvement, and environmental education to strengthen the destination’s competitiveness and support sustainable tourism. The natural beauty, interaction with elephants, and the use of social media are major strengths. However, challenges such as difficult access, geographical conditions, and weather present obstacles, necessitating adaptive, community-based strategies. Positive impacts of this ecotourism include increased community income, job creation, and growing awareness of cultural and environmental preservation. Community involvement in interactions with tourists also reinforces local identity and fosters inclusive and sustainable tourism development. In conclusion, the integrated Islamic communication strategy has successfully developed ecotourism, enhanced the economy, preserved culture, and encouraged community participation in sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

The security operations for the 2024 election in Deli Serdang face significant communication challenges that risk causing message distortion, potentially undermining coordination between security personnel and the public. To address this issue, this study applies the Shannon and Weaver communication model as a framework to identify factors contributing to noise in information exchange on the ground. The research focuses on how the model’s elements—such as sender, communication channels, and receiver—can interact more effectively to minimize misunderstandings. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with security personnel and document analysis. Findings reveal that employing the Shannon and Weaver model aids in identifying vulnerable points that cause noise, such as message inconsistencies and limited communication media. By improving feedback mechanisms and minimizing sources of interference, coordination in election security can be substantially enhanced. This study concludes that understanding the principles of communication models is essential to ensuring message clarity and bolstering security responsiveness during election operations.

Abstract

The problem of drug abuse in Binjai City, which serves as a transit city, is a serious concern for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN). The main challenge in BNN's anti-drug education program in Binjai is integrating strict Islamic values with the human relations approach, which emphasizes empathy and interpersonal support. This research aims to identify the effectiveness and challenges in implementing an Islamic-based human relations approach to raise anti-drug awareness in the Binjai community. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytic approach, utilizing in-depth interviews with BNN employees, religious leaders, and program participants. The novelty of this research lies in the focus of the paradox between Islamic values and humanist approaches in drug rehabilitation programs that have not been widely explored. The results show that the integration of religious values and humanist approach creates an environment that supports recovery, increases participants' awareness, and reduces the stigma of drug users. However, challenges arise in aligning an empathic approach with the expectations of a society that wants a more assertive approach. This study provides a relevant and adaptive educational model for cities with similar characteristics.
