Abstract

Along with the rapid development of technology, especially in the computer field, several methods have been developed for target setting. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is commonly employed to analyze efficiency levels based on historical data with static targets. Data Envelopment Analysis results in a low level of efficiency against the use of static targets. A new target setting solution is needed to handle dynamic targets. Based on the need, we propose a method to predict more realistic dynamic targets using Deep Learning Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) approach from the results of the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). This study leads to a prediction model with 71.2% average accuracy.

Abstract

Rat (Rattus spp.) pest infestations are a major constraint to rice productivity in Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh, with potential losses reaching 60–70% and even crop failure. Conventional methods currently used by farmers, such as chemical rodenticides and electric traps, have proven ineffective in the long term and have negative ecological impacts. This Community Service (PKM) activity introduced the Owl House (RUBUHA) innovation as a sustainable biological control approach by involving farmer groups in Meurah Dua Sub District. The implementation method includes five stages: socialization, theoretical and practical training (30%–70%), application of RUBUHA in demonstration plots, intensive mentoring, and development of sustainability strategies. Evaluation of farmer knowledge was conducted through pre- and post-tests, while productivity impacts were measured based on harvest data before and after technology implementation. The implementation results showed an increase in rice productivity from 6.1 tons/ha to 7.2 tons/ha, with an estimated additional income of IDR 5–6 million/ha. Farmers' knowledge and skills increased by 70%, indicating the success of learning-by-doing-based technology transfer. In addition to economic benefits, the implementation of RUBUHA also reduces the use of chemical rodenticides, thus positively impacting the environment. The results of this PKM are not only relevant in supporting local food security and farmer welfare but also align with the achievement of the SDGs. Replication Innovation Rubuha to other regions is recommended as part of a community-based Integrated Pest Management strategy.

Abstract

The data and results of field observations show that Punggur Kecil Village is identical to the economically weak community and depends on agriculture for its livelihood which is to cultivate plants using inorganic fertilizers. Inorganic fertilizers are widely used by farmers, this is because they are more efficient and effective than organic fertilizers. Whereas the continuous use of chemical fertilizers causes the land to be damaged and cannot provide the carrying capacity for human life. This happens because the community does not have the knowledge and skills in processing household waste into organic fertilizer which is more environmentally friendly. Therefore, the abundance of natural resources in Bilayuk Village from the agricultural aspect cannot be utilized optimally due to limited human resources. The results showed that the material for processing household waste into organic compost using the Takakura method could be understood by 68% of the target audience, overall the participants liked the use of Takakura compost in the cultivation of vegetable crops produced by the distribution of 14% of participants who preferred inorganic fertilizers, 27 % prefer Takakura’s organic compost, and 59% like both.

Abstract

Agarwood is a type of wood produced by several species of trees from the Aquilaria genus, especially Aquilaria malaccensis. Agarwood has high value in the perfume and traditional medicine industries because of its unique aromatic compounds. Agarwood can be formed due to interactions between microbes (certain inoculum) and host plants and chemical mechanisms that ultimately form a product, namely sapwood. Local inoculum is effective in producing gaharu, because it is endemic to certain areas. Some of the partners' obstacles that are strongly felt include (1) the low ability of farmer group members in terms of breeding agarwood plants both naturally (generatively) including propagation treatments using mature seeds and saplings (plucks) as well as plant cutting patterns. (2) There is no knowledge and skills of members of the two partner groups in carrying out the breeding and maintenance of gaharu seedlings. This service uses training and seeding methods for seed patterns and saplings (plucks) and plant cuttings. This method is appropriate to use where the participation of partner farmers in improving skills and the mentoring process is carried out directly by practicing. The pattern of implementing community service activities for partner farmers applies the principle of "learning by doing" learning while working. Agarwood Nursery Training in the Former Conflict Area in North Aceh has been able to increase knowledge, skills and change attitudes in the cultivation of agarwood plants. The impacts felt by the existence of agarwood plant breeding activities include; increasing the economic income of partner farmers, increasing social harmony among group members and the community at the location of service activities.
