Abstract

The ship's driving system and propeller are components of the ship's propulsion device, and although they have been made in such a way and are strong, they will be damaged along with their service life. Damage to the propeller blades due to cavitation will have an impact, triggering noise and vibrations, and it will be the leading cause of decreased propeller thrust. Low ship propulsion efficiency increases fuel costs, making the ship unseaworthy and less efficient. Broken propeller blades when the ship is at sea threaten the safety of the ship and threaten the safety of the fishermen's lives. From the above conditions, the 2024 LBE-Collaboration PPM Program was held to provide counseling to members of the target fishermen group, "Kanja'tongeng", Borikamase Village, Maros Baru District, so that they can carry out maintenance on the ship's shaft and propeller independently in a good and correct manner. The evaluation results of activity achievements were carried out using the questionnaire method during the pre-test and post-test. Both showed a fairly adequate level of success. The number of participants who initially did not understand the extension material decreased from 67.86% to 12.05%. Likewise, there was an increased understanding of the material on ship shaft and propeller maintenance, as seen from the number of participants who initially understood it to an excellent level, from 11.90% to 39.16%. The achievement indicators above show that the PPM LBE-Collaboration 2024 program has been successful and is running effectively. This success, of course, not only increases the technical knowledge of fishermen about ship shaft and propeller maintenance, but will also improve aspects of ship safety and ship seaworthiness.

Abstract

Foot rot disease (FRD) on citrus plants is suspected to be caused by a Phytophthora spp., characterized by yellowish-brown stem discoloration and cracking or peeling bark. FRD spreads rapidly and can be fatal to citrus crops. The purpose of this study was to determine the intensity of FRD on pomelo (Citrus maxima) in Ma'rang, Segeri, and Labakkang Districts, Pangkep Regency. Symptomatic tissues were collected and examined microscopically at the Plant Disease Laboratory at Hasanuddin University. The highest disease intensity was observed in Ma'rang (27%), followed by Labakkang (21%) and Segeri (17%). The study also found that disease intensity was inversely related to light penetration under the canopy. Denser foliage with limited pruning resulted in lower light intensity and higher disease severity. The low intensity of light that enters under the trees canopy of pomelo plantations is affected by tree stands that have relatively denser crowns due to the infrequent pruning of less productive branches.

Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to provide knowledge and skills to prospective teachers of Islamic Religious Education at STIT NU Al Faraby Pangandaran in applying the Project Based Learning (PBL) learning method. The implementation of this service uses training and simulation methods including the provision of material, demonstrations, exercises, and simulations. Evaluation is carried out to determine the understanding and skills of trainees by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test then analyzed quantitatively with the calculation of N-Gain. The results of this service show that prospective teachers who are students of the PIAUD STIT NU Al Faraby Study Program can apply the Project Based Learning (PBL) learning method with all learning steps well. With this activity, it is hoped that in the future prospective PIAUD teacher students can apply the PBL method directly in teaching practice (Teaching Internship Activities) besides that it can also directly increase confidence in carrying out their teaching duties after graduating at their respective workplaces.

Abstract

The refrigeration system is one of the technologies used to condition thetemperature of the air either by heating or cooling, in general refrigeration iscommonly used for human comfort needs and also for the freezing process. Inthis research, refrigeration is used for the process of drying potatoes using adehumidification method, which is the reduction of moisture in the air vapor.Potatoes will be cooled using a refrigeration process and then will be heatedusing a heater, data collection is carried out at a temperature of 600C heater, withdata collection each of 60 minutes, 120 minutes and 180 minutes. From theresults obtained, the dehumidifier method using a refrigeration system can drypotatoes to shrink 60% and humidity can be reduced to 83.3%.

Abstract

Bactrocera musae is one of the most damaging fruit fly species affecting tropical fruit crops, particularly bananas. In Indonesia, this species is classified as an A2 Quarantine Plant Pest due to its economic impact and potential to spread into key production and export regions. However, updated information on its spatial distribution in South Sulawesi remains limited. This study aimed to map the occurrence and distribution of B. musae through field surveillance. Fruit fly specimens were collected using traps baited with methyl eugenol and installed across selected survey locations representing fruit-producing areas. Morphological identification was performed using standard taxonomic keys for Bactrocera species. The survey results confirmed that the distribution of B. musae in South Sulawesi is relatively extensive. The pest was detected in Makassar City and the regencies of Gowa, Takalar, Jeneponto, Bulukumba, Bantaeng, Sinjai, and Bone. These areas are characterized by the presence of tropical fruit crops, including banana, mango, guava, and papaya, which may serve as suitable host plants and support population establishment. The confirmed presence of B. musae in multiple regions indicates the need for strengthened surveillance, early detection programs, and quarantine measures. The findings of this research provide important baseline data for future pest risk analysis and policy development, particularly regarding pest status determination and preventive actions in South Sulawesi and other vulnerable regions. Further studies on population ecology, host interactions, and management strategies are recommended to support more effective control efforts.
