Abstract

Misconception is an event of a wrong concept received by students after following a learning process, the concept received is not in accordance with existing scientific studies. This study aims to identify students' misconceptions on the colligative properties of the solution and the factors that cause misconceptions. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The instrument used is a four-tier multiple choice diagnostic test. This study involved 34 students of class XII MIA at MA Khulafaur Rasyidin Sungai Raya. The results showed that the level of misconceptions of students had an average percentage of 34% with a moderate misconception category, where a total of 65% students experienced misconceptions in the sub-topic of vapor pressure depression, 26,30% students experienced misconceptions in the sub-topic of freezing point depression,  33,30% students experienced misconceptions in the sub-topic of boiling point elevation, and  26% students experienced misconceptions in the sub-topic of osmotic pressure. Based on the results of the interview, the factors causing misconceptions in this study consist of internal and external factors. Internal factors come from students, that are students provide concept ideas spontaneously based on their understanding without being investigated first, students provide incorrect reasoning, students are confused in connecting one concept with another, lack of interest and ability of students in learning chemistry. External factors come from the context and teaching methods, where one of the learners' discussion partners has misconceptions, the teacher is more dominant in providing chemical explanations in mathematical form, and limited experiments. Those misconceptions can be reduced by presenting the topic in an interesting way, using an experiment, or using multiple representations approach.

Abstract

This research aims to produce a product in the form of a booklet assisted by an animated video by utilizing QR codes on constitutional isomers sub-material to increase student understanding and reduce misconceptions on constitutional isomers. This research method is research and development (R&D) with a 4D development model consisting of the Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate stages. However, this research only reached the Develop stage. The validation data was analyzed using Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), while the student response questionnaire to the product was measured using a Likert scale. The results of product validation from every aspect, both in booklets and animated videos, obtained a CVI value of 0.99 and were declared valid and suitable for use as learning media. Students also gave good responses, which was shown in the initial response test with a percentage of 85% in the good category and in the main response test with a percentage of 84% in the good category.

Abstract

Material in chemistry learning will be easier to understand if students are able to represent it at three levels of representation, namely macroscopic, sub-microscopic and symbolic. This research aims to describe students' abilities in using various representations in class XI MIPA 1 hydrocarbon material at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kunyit. Students' thinking processes require various representations and various ways or steps to solve problems. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive research. The research instruments used included 9 two tier multiple choice objective test questions and an interview guide. This research involved 20 students of class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kunyit. The research results show that overall, the average multi-representation ability of students is 29% in the poor category. At the macroscopic representation level, the average percentage obtained is 20% which can be classified as very poor. At the sub-microscopic level of representation, the average is 35% which is included in the poor category. Finally, at the level of symbolic representation the average percentage is 31% which is also included in the poor category.

Abstract

The competence of educators in the use of technology in learning today is still not enough to answer the challenges of 21st-century learning. For this reason, it is necessary to assist increased science educators with TPACK-based learning tools. The results of a survey of educators found that educators still hadn't applied technology in their learning so in preparing learning tools they were still not skilled.  This activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to educators regarding the preparation of TPACK-based learning tools, describe the understanding of science educators on the role and use of technology, describe the ability of educators to design TPACK-based learning tools, and determine the response of educators to the activities carried out. The socialization and mentoring were using discussion and group work methods. The Activity was attended by 18 science teachers in Sintang Regency. The results of the mentoring show that this assistance is very helpful for educators in understanding TPACK and the knowledge of teachers about TPACK and the preparation of TPACK-based learning tools is increasing.

Abstract

The era of globalization requires students as the nation's next generation to have 21st century skills. However, most students have not received or been trained in 21st century skills while in college. Learning with a constructivist approach with the case method model and team-based project is one strategy to solve this problem, but most of the lecturers in the PMIPA FKIP Untan department have not been able to distinguish and apply the two learning models. This is due to the low understanding of educators related to the case method and team-based project learning models. The aim of this workshop is to improve lecturers' understanding and skills in developing learning tools using the case method and team-based projects. This workshop begins with a presentation of material on the case method and team-based project learning tools using the lecture method and continues with a review of the RPS that has been prepared by the lecturer. All activities are carried out online. The results of the workshop were that 96.5% of the lecturers had understood the RPS using the case method and 93% of the team-based project. As many as 65.5% of lecturers stated that this activity was very helpful in preparing lesson plans with the case method and team-based projects. Meanwhile, 96% of participants wanted to do similar activities again. This indicates that this workshop has provided understanding and assisted participants in preparing lesson plans using the Case Method and Team Based Project. The results of this workshop have motivated lecturers to produce learning tools, especially better lesson plans.

Abstract

The implementation of technology in learning activities, especially evaluation and learning media, has not been implemented optimally. The fact that educators do not assess all of these aspects and are still fixated on conventional assessments and innovative media and assessment designs as demanded by the 21st century, which is rarely done. For this reason, to improve the skills of educators, especially science educators who are members of the Mempawah Regency MGMP, training in making assessments and TPACK-based learning media is needed. The purpose of this activity is to improve the ability of educators to make TPACK-based assessments and media in learning and to describe educators' responses to the socialization activities carried out. This training uses a qualitative descriptive method and the material exposure through practice, discussion, and presentation. The results of the training are known to be very helpful for educators to develop assessments and learning media that are interesting, innovative, and effective for students by utilizing technology that is easily accessible to anyone and increasing the knowledge and creativity of educators regarding the implementation of technology in preparing assessments and learning media specifically for science subjects.
