Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a significant role in economic growth, employment generation, and business development. However, the rapid advancement of digital technologies and increasing market competition require MSMEs to enhance their capabilities to remain competitive and sustainable. This study aims to examine the influence of digital literacy, technology adoption, and innovation capability on MSME business performance. The study employs a quantitative research approach using a cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected from 200 MSME owners and managers through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that digital literacy, technology adoption, and innovation capability have positive and significant effects on MSME business performance. Digital literacy enables MSME owners to effectively utilize digital technologies and improve decision-making processes. Technology adoption contributes to operational efficiency, broader market access, and enhanced customer engagement. Meanwhile, innovation capability demonstrates the strongest influence on business performance, indicating that MSMEs with greater abilities to develop new products, services, and business processes achieve superior business outcomes. The results support the Resource-Based View (RBV), which suggests that valuable organizational resources and capabilities contribute to competitive advantage and improved performance. The study highlights the importance of strengthening digital competencies, encouraging technology utilization, and fostering innovation among MSMEs to achieve sustainable growth and competitiveness in the digital economy. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, business support institutions, and MSME practitioners in designing strategies to improve MSME performance.

Abstract

This paper explores the epistemological problem of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), which is often celebrated for its flexibility. The main question addressed is why fiqh continues to survive despite its weak logical structure when measured against the standards of formal logic. Positioned within the framework of philosophy of science and mantiq (logic), this study argues that the resilience of fiqh does not stem from logical consistency but rather from its role as an authoritative system. The analysis focuses on three critical aspects: the definitional ambiguity of key concepts that fail to fulfill the criterion of jāmi‘ wa māni’, the analogical reasoning (qiyās) that frequently relies on assumed causality instead of demonstrative proofs (burhān), and the legal maxims (qawā‘id al-fiqhiyyah) that tend to operate as post-decision justifications rather than guiding principles of reasoning. These weaknesses indicate that fiqh is closer to a system of authority than to a discipline of science in the strict sense. Nevertheless, the same weaknesses paradoxically contribute to its adaptability and persistence across different eras. The paper concludes that fiqh is strong in praxis but fragile in theory, and it recommends an epistemological reconstruction through precise definitional work, strengthening qiyās with demonstrative causality, and reformulating legal maxims with objective parameters. Such reconstruction would enable fiqh to transform from a primarily authoritative tradition into a rational, systematic, and contextually relevant body of knowledge.

Abstract

The discourse on Muslim feminism has developed as a critical response to the dominance of patriarchal interpretations that have long influenced the construction of Islamic law, particularly in the field of family law. This study aims to analyse the process of reinterpreting Islamic law from a Muslim feminist perspective by developing a methodological framework that integrates uṣūl al-fiqh, contextual hermeneutics, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, and an intersectional perspective. This study employs a qualitative approach with a normative-empirical design through literature review and an examination of the dynamics of Islamic legal practice within a contemporary social context. The findings indicate that gender inequality in family law is more a product of historical interpretative constructions than an inherent consequence of normative Islamic texts. Consequently, reinterpretation based on an integrative approach can produce a framework of ijtihād that is more inclusive, contextual and oriented towards substantive justice. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a methodological model that operationally bridges the epistemology of classical Islamic law with the perspective of contemporary Muslim feminism to support family law reform, protect women’s rights, and strengthen the role of religious courts. These findings make a theoretical contribution to the development of multidisciplinary Islamic legal studies, as well as offering practical implications for the formulation of legal policies that are more responsive to gender justice. However, the validity of the developed model still requires empirical testing across various social contexts and legal systems in Muslim countries.

Abstract

This study analyses the use of moderate Islamic narratives as a strategy for political legitimisation in Indonesia. It aims to explain how political actors build legitimacy through moderate Islamic narratives and to identify the discursive strategies employed in this process. This study adopts a qualitative approach, using a critical case study design grounded in critical discourse analysis. The findings indicate that moderate Islamic narratives not only represent the values of tolerance, nationalism, and anti-extremism but can also function as political instruments to build public acceptance, strengthen the image of political actors, and manage contestations over religious identity. These narratives are ambivalent, as they can support social harmony while also potentially marginalising groups that do not conform to the dominant definition of moderation. The novelty of this study lies in its critical analysis of moderation as a discursive practice linked to legitimacy, power, and political communication. Consequently, the use of moderation narratives must be accompanied by policy commitments that are more inclusive, participatory, and sensitive to social justice, so that they do not remain mere political rhetoric.
