Abstract

This research aims to explain the symptoms of language errors, especially ambiguity at the semantic level in packaged advertising products. Ambiguity is a form of duplicity that can confuse listeners, making the message conveyed by the speaker difficult to understand. Advertising, as a communication and information medium, uses spoken and written language to convey messages or opinions. The advertisements analyzed in this research include advertisements for medicines, drinks and food. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, by producing descriptive data in the form of written words on packaging advertisements. The research subjects were packaged advertising products which were analyzed using data collection techniques in the form of reading and taking notes on the advertisements obtained. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide an overview of the potential for language errors in packaging advertising which can cause ambiguity or confusion for consumers. This research also aims to analyze how ambiguity in advertising language can influence consumer perceptions and explain the implications of these language errors on the effectiveness of advertising in attracting attention and influencing consumer purchasing decisions.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan masyarakat desa merupakan langkah strategis dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup melalui penguatan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) serta pengelolaan lingkungan yang lebih baik. Artikel ini membahas pelaksanaan penyuluhan PHBS pada anak sekolah dasar, kegiatan kerja bakti membersihkan lingkungan desa, dan pembangunan tempat pembuangan sampah sementara (TPS) sebagai upaya mendukung pertanian dan pariwisata berkelanjutan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi edukasi langsung, partisipasi masyarakat, dan pembangunan fasilitas dasar lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan perilaku sehat pada siswa SD, meningkatnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam menjaga kebersihan, serta tersedianya fasilitas TPS yang membantu pengelolaan sampah desa secara lebih terstruktur. Pembahasan mengaitkan temuan tersebut dengan literatur terbaru yang menegaskan pentingnya faktor kesehatan dan lingkungan dalam pembangunan desa berkelanjutan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, kegiatan pemberdayaan ini terbukti mampu memperkuat kualitas lingkungan dan berkontribusi pada pengembangan pertanian serta pariwisata lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji komunikasi nonformal dalam grup WhatsApp kelas siswa SMK Mardi Wacana dengan memfokuskan analisis pada makna komunikasi, pola interaksi, serta peran WhatsApp sebagai media komunikasi digital. Tujuan penelitian mengungkap bagaimana siswa memaknai komunikasi nonformal di dalam grup WhatsApp serta dampaknya terhadap efektivitas komunikasi dan kekompakan sosial. Metode yang digunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam dengan siswa. Keabsahan data diuji melalui triangulasi sumber dengan membandingkan hasil observasi dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui tahapan transkripsi, pengelompokan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa grup WhatsApp dimaknai sebagai sarana komunikasi nonformal yang efektif untuk penyampaian informasi, koordinasi kegiatan, serta interaksi sosial. Bahasa yang digunakan bersifat santai dan fleksibel, serta ditemukan fenomena silent reader sebagai bentuk partisipasi selektif dalam komunikasi digital. Temuan ini menegaskan peran strategis WhatsApp dalam membentuk pola komunikasi nonformal siswa di era digital.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the descriptive writing skills of fifth-grade elementary school students through the use of picture media. The research was motivated by the low level of students’ descriptive writing ability, such as difficulties in expressing ideas, limited vocabulary, and a lack of coherence in paragraph organization. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 28 fifth- grade students of SDN 10 sembawa selected purposively. Data were collected through writing tests, classroom observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using both qualitative descriptive and quantitative methods. The findings reveal that the use of picture media helps students observe objects in detail, enrich their vocabulary, and stimulate their imagination to construct more coherent descriptive paragraphs. The average score of students’ descriptive writing improved from 65 in the pre-cycle to 76 in the first cycle and 86 in the second cycle. This significant increase demonstrates that picture media effectively supports students in developing ideas and expressing them in well-structured written form. Moreover, students showed higher enthusiasm and motivation during the learning process. The study recommends that Indonesian language teachers integrate picture media as an alternative and engaging strategy for teaching descriptive writing, enabling learning objectives to be achieved more effectively.

Abstract

Tuberculosis, a highly infectious ailment, is triggered by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lung's functional tissue. Transmission occurs when a person inhales airborne saliva droplets containing the bacteria expelled by a tuberculosis patient through coughing, thus spreading the disease. This investigation sought to determine the attributes of tuberculosis patients receiving outpatient care, along with the pattern of anti-tuberculosis drug prescriptions at X Hospital Medan between July and December 2023. Metode; The study utilized a non-experimental approach because of its design and structure, which involved collecting survey data from the hospital's historical records. Ninety-six tuberculosis drug prescriptions issued during July–December 2023 were selected through random sampling. The study's findings revealed that, among 96 patients, the 46–55 age group comprised 22 individuals (22.9%), with females accounting for 55 patients (57.3%), and 94 patients (95.8%) utilized BPJS as their payment guarantor. The research indicated that Category I anti-tuberculosis drugs were prescribed more frequently than Category II anti-tuberculosis drugs for 92 patients (95.8%), and 59 patients (61.5%) at X Hospital received OAT-FDC, a commonly employed tuberculosis treatment. This study proposed that future research should outline the anti-tuberculosis medication prescription profile, using patients’ health information.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian at the elementary school level does not only focus on developing language skills, but also on forming students' capacity to express themselves constructively. One of the right strategies to achieve this is a project-based learning approach that is integrated with students' interests and hobbies. This article aims to describe the application of learning self-expression through hobbies using the project method in the Indonesian language module for class V elementary schools. The method used is descriptive qualitative, by analyzing teaching modules designed based on student characteristics and PjBL principles. The results of the analysis show that project-based learning through hobbies can increase student participation in the learning process, self-confidence, and oral and written language skills. Thus, this module can be used as a meaningful and context-appropriate learning alternative in teaching Indonesian in elementary schools.
