Abstract

This land conversion phenomenon occurs due to competition in land use between the agricultural sector and the non-agricultural sector which arises as a result of three economic and social phenomena, namely limited resources, population increase, and economic growth. It is inevitable that as people's demand for houses increases, many plantation lands are being converted or reorganized into housing. For this research, a qualitative research method using a phenomenological approach tries to explain or reveal the meaning of concepts or experiential phenomena based on awareness that occurs in several individuals. The impact of land conversion that occurred in the village of Sampali on the social economy for residents who are descendants of PTPN 2 retirees, they lost their homes and as compensation they were given charity, and for the surrounding community, with the conversion of plantation land to housing, progress occurred in the area. This is because land clearing and the development that will be carried out can have an impact on the economy of the surrounding community. If viewed according to Islamic economics, the conversion of functions that occurs is permitted as long as the conversion of land is carried out fairly. The housing development is based on the high demand for housing in the community, so housing construction carried out by the private sector is felt to be very beneficial for the community.

Abstract

Musthafawiyahnomic is an Islamic boarding school that has become an icon of economic turnover because Musthafawiyah Islamic boarding school is one of the Islamic boarding schools whose students live side by side with society. This Islamic boarding school is also one of the Islamic boarding schools that has the biggest influence on the running of the economy in Mandailing Natal, especially Purba Baru village, such as local people, migrant traders, and outside communities. The role of the Musthafawiyah Islamic boarding school in improving the community's economy is by giving the community the freedom to rent out their land as a place for the students' cottages to stand, opening up opportunities to depend on their economy in the fields of trade, laundry, photocopying, barbershops, lodging, cottages, etc. Indirectly, Islamic boarding schools contribute to contact with society, to improve its welfare both from a socio-economic and religious spiritual perspective. This is in line with rural economics, namely development policies or strategies for the economic development of rural areas. The impacts of the existence of this Islamic boarding school are: firstly, there is social jealousy that arises between people who have businesses and those who do not because the location is less strategic. Second, the positive impact of the existence of the Musthafawiyah Islamic boarding school helps reduce unemployment in Purba Baru village, although it is not optimal, with the existence of this Islamic boarding school, unemployment in Purba Baru village can be reduced. The socioeconomic conditions of the community around the Mustafawiyah Islamic boarding school can be called Mustafawiyahnomic. This Mustafawiyah Islamic Boarding School is also an icon of society because the Musthafawiyah Islamic boarding school is one of the Islamic boarding schools whose students live side by side with the community. This Islamic boarding school is also one of the Islamic boarding schools that has the biggest influence on the running of the economy in Mandailing Natal, especially Purba Baru village, such as local people, migrant traders, and outside communities. This Islamic boarding school also has a big influence on the local community in the economic sector where the community makes this an opportunity to depend on their economy in the fields of trade, laundry, photocopying, hair trimming, lodging, cottages, etc.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the growing use of online loans in Medan City within the context of the digital economy, viewed from the perspective of Islamic economics. The rapid expansion of application-based lending services has generated various social and economic impacts, particularly in fostering consumerist behavior and creating discrepancies with Islamic financial principles. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify the factors that drive people to use online loans, (2) to analyze the economic and social effects arising from their use, and (3) to evaluate the conformity of online lending practices with the principles of Islamic economics. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and documentation involving 6-10 users of online lending services in Medan City. Data analysis was conducted inductively by interpreting the meanings and experiences of users in light of maq??id al-syari’ah principles. The results reveal that easy access, fast processes, and urgent financial needs are the main factors encouraging people to use online loans. However, high interest rates, late payment penalties, and unethical debt collection methods have caused significant economic and social pressures. From the perspective of Islamic economics, such practices contain elements of riba (usury), gharar (uncertainty), and zulm (injustice), which contradict the Islamic values of fairness, balance, and blessing. This study contributes empirically to strengthening Islamic financial literacy and encourages the development of fintech regulations that align with Islamic ethical values.

Abstract

The value of fintech lending, also known as online lending (pinjol), in Indonesia has increased for three consecutive months from July to September 2023. Due to the ease of access, various illegal online loans have sprung up. The type of research used in this study is quantitative research. This correlation study was conducted by researchers to determine the level of relationship between two or more variables, without making any changes. Overall, the prevalence of illegal online loans among the public is greatly influenced by financial literacy, financial inclusion, and lifestyle, with ease of transaction as the main mediator. The social environment does not play a significant role in this context. To reduce the negative impact of illegal online loans, a combination of increased literacy, wise financial inclusion regulations, control of consumptive lifestyles, and strict regulations on the ease of transactions on online lending platforms is needed.
