Abstract

Abstract. This study investigates the impact of Padlet, an online collaborative platform, on the creative writing and imagination of students in an Islamic private school in Pasuruan, comprising 10th and 11th grade students. This study is a qualitative approach, specifically employing narrative inquiry. Data collection methods include observations and semi-structured interviews with the students. Furthermore, data analysis involves identifying key themes and patterns from the interview data, allowing for insight into the influence of Padlet on students’ creativity and imagination. The findings of this study elucidate the potential originality inherent in utilizing Padlet as a medium for amplifying students’ imaginative faculties within the context of writing instruction. Although encountered with some obstacles, most students exhibited adeptness in surmounting these challenges. consequently, this research substantiates our comprehension of how digital tools such as Padlet can be effectively employed within educational settings to nurture creativity and cultivate superior writing proficiencies. Moreover, this investigation addresses a significant research gap concerning Padlet’s influence on imagination within writing courses. The derived insights furnish valuable guidance for teachers and educational institutions seeking to integrate analogues platforms in order to foster imaginative cogitation and self-expression, thereby fostering an enriched academic milieu.     Keywords: Creative Writing, Padlet Media, Students’ Imagination, EFL Learning

Abstract

One of the rarely trained skills of the teachers in writing scientific papers. The reason is that the teachers are less trained to write a scientific article. Currently, scientific articles are one of the mandatory requirements for promotion for teachers. This community service activity is intended to assist teachers in writing scientific articles based on the results of classroom action research (PTK) that has been carried out. The method was conducted through workshops, discussions, questions and answers, face-to-face guidance services, and e-mail. The results indicated a paradigm shift in writing scientific articles. Initially, the teachers experienced difficulties, but after the training, they felt easy because they already knew how to put the ideas of the CAR (PTK) results in article writing. The results indicate that with further instruction and guidance, the teachers’ capacity improves and the drafts were good with some improvement The articles will then published in accredited journals for the teachers’ promotion.

Abstract

In recent years, educational technology has played a substantial part in revolutionizing teaching and learning practices. Quizizz has gained prominence for interactive features. Quizizz launched Quizizz Paper Mode as a new featur. This study focused on students’ perception of using Quizizz Paper Mode as a tool of language assessment in EFL Class. This study aimed to unveil the unique insights and experiences of students regarding Quizizz Paper Mode as a tool for language assessment. This study employed a qualitative approach through descriptive analysis. The data collected by semi structured interview given to gather data from a diverse group of students. A varied group of students set out to gather a wide variety of data samples. The study's scope was enhanced by their diverse activeness and motivation during learning English. From the data caught that the students perceive Quizizz Paper Mode as a interesting tool of language assessment, encourage their confidence, increasing their motivation and enhancing reading ability. In conclusion, this article shed light on the potential of Quizizz Paper Mode as a tool for engaging language assessment in EFL Class. The findings offered valuable insights for educators seeking innovative approaches to language assessment in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the English learning process using Arloopa as a digital medium. This study uses a descriptive qualitative design. To answer the problem of the study, the researcher observed the learning and teaching process in an Islamic secondary school in Malang. Two classes were observed by immersion in the classroom to get data. To verify the data obtained, the researcher checked the learning module document. The researcher revealed that using Arloopa as a digital learning media requires additional skill technology for the teacher if the students need to be equipped with a mobile phone, which Arloopa is only working with a mobile phone. The teacher should connect the mobile phone’s display to the LCD projector so that the students can view an object displayed by Arloopa. It would be different if each student in the class utilized an Android phone.

Abstract

This study investigates the perceptions of EFL students' perceptions regarding the Mentimeter-based activities andtheir specific features for help learning writing skills. The quantitative research method through descriptive analysis was employed, involving 30 EFL students from a private middle school in Malang. A closed-ended questionnaire was given via Google Forms to gather data. The results indicate that students perceive Mentimeter as a valuable tool for enhancing their learning experiences, promoting creativity, and providing a fun and interactive learning environment in writing skill. Mentimeter is also useful in promoting vocabulary expansion, language mechanics development, and comprehension. It was noted that the Word Cloud was particularly helpful for testing students' writing skills, engaging them in class, and improving academic outcomes. It may encourage competency growth, feedback, and discussions. By shedding light on Mentimeter's potential as a tool to help learning writing abilities for EFL students', the study adds to the body of knowledge on cutting-edge language learning techniques.

Abstract

This research purpose is to see the level of student’s interest in the use Assemblr Edu-based Augmented Reality. This research applied a Quantitative approach using a survey design. 15 students become participants in this research. In collecting the data, the researcher used a questionnaire. The result showed that almost all of the variables of items get a positive perception as a learning media, as shown by the highest mean of 3.47. It means that the media can assist students in learning, especially in describing an object's appearance in 3D views, where the students are more interested in describing an object. Students’ answers show that they agree that the Assemblrs-Edu application is fun and the Assemblr Edu application motivates students and makes students enthusiastic to learn English. The abstract of the research paper should contain the purposes, methodology, and findings of the study.

Abstract

This article describes the results of community service by the engagement team of Islamic University of Malang which is conducted toward the teachers of an elementary school in Sukun District, Malang City. The program aims to improve the teachers’ ability in writing research in particular using the classroom action research (CAR) method of which conducting the report always became the difficulty for them. Therefore, in this occasion we identify the problems as follows: a) deciding the topic for the CAR, b) creating the title for the research, c) creating research questions, d) creating the stages of the research and also relevant instrumentation to collect the data, e) writing discussion for the results, then composing the suggestion and conclusion from the results. The method of implementing community service is done by carrying out training and practice of writing CAR. From the results of the training, found that it were quite good where elementary school teachers gained experience about writing CAR. The participants were very enthusiastic about the training, so in the end of this activity, it is expected that by conducting this CAR training, they will be able to conduct the research both independently and in groups. Keywords: CAR, mentoring, training Abstrak Artikel ini menjelaskan hasil pengabdian masyarakat oleh tim pengabdi dari Universitas Islam Malang yang dilakukan terhadap guru-guru Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Sukun, Kota Malang. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam menulis penelitian khususnya menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang mana melakukan laporan selalu menjadi kesulitan bagi mereka. Oleh karena itu, dalam kesempatan ini kami mengidentifikasi masalah sebagai berikut: a) memutuskan topik untuk CAR, b) membuat judul, c) membuat pertanyaan penelitian, d) menciptakan tahapan penelitian dan juga instrumentasi yang relevan untuk mengumpulkan data, e) menulis diskusi hasil, kemudian menyusun saran dan kesimpulan dari hasil. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan melakukan pelatihan dan praktik penulisan PTK. Dari hasil pelatihan, ditemukan bahwa guru Sekolah Dasar memperoleh pengalaman tentang menulis PTK. Para peserta sangat antusias dengan pelatihan ini, sehingga pada akhir kegiatan ini, diharapkan dengan melakukan pelatihan PTK ini, mereka akan dapat melakukan penelitian baik secara mandiri maupun dalam kelompok. Abstract

Memorizing vocabulary is hard for certain students; this conventional strategy has so many weaknesses. Therefore, technology has an important role in the scope of teaching and learning EFL. Engaging students’ habits with their gadgets, especially in gamification “Blooket” is a new way to enhance students’ vocabulary mastery. This study stands to examine the use of educational games-based learning to enhance Students’ English vocabulary. A qualitative study will be carried out as a study-based design and focus on students’ perception of playing the Blooket game.  40 students (7,8 and 9 grades of Junior High School students) were involved as a subject of research. A questionnaire was given to students using Google Forms to get the data and analyzed it. The result shows that using Blooket can enhance students’ motivation in learning vocabulary because it makes them fun, competitive, and understand the vocabulary (not by memorizing). Blooket also has weakness in speed and accuracy because of Internet connection and the gadget’s performance. Therefore, this can be used as an alternative to breaking the old way of learning vocabulary

Abstract

Writing skills are crucial in education, yet many students face challenges with engagement and interest. Given the increasing use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education, exploring innovative approaches to address these issues is important. This study investigated ICT-based interactive video to enhance students' engagement and descriptive writing skills. Conducted with 33 seventh-grade students from a junior high school in Malang, this qualitative study employed classroom observations and analysis of written texts. Data analysis involved categorizing observation records by themes such as student engagement and interaction with the video. Students’ descriptive texts were examined for advancements in clarity, coherence, and creativity and categorized based on these aspects. The findings indicated that after using interactive videos, students’ descriptive writing displayed advancements in the three areas examined, with many students achieving high-quality levels. These results suggest that interactive videos can be a valuable tool for boosting students’ engagement and writing skills. The study highlights the need for incorporating such media into writing instruction. It suggests that further research should explore the refinement of these tools and their application in varied educational settings.

Abstract

The objective of this investigation is to look into how the Quizalize application helps students improve their writing skills. Taggart's study method is the Classroom Action study (PTK) using the Kemmis and Mc model. The research subjects consisted of 27 seventh-grade students. The research findings indicate that using the Quizalize application can considerably improve pupils' writing skills. Using game-based learning media like Quizalize increases students' activity, enthusiasm, and involvement in the teaching and learning process.
