Abstract

The aim of APEC cooperation is to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, as well as enhance cooperation and economic integration among its members. This study aims to analyze the influence of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth in the 19 APEC member countries using multiple linear regression method. This research examines the impact of economic freedom, foreign direct investment, international trade, labor force, inflation, and the Covid-19 pandemic on economic growth. The analysis results indicate that economic freedom, although important, may have limited impact in weak institutional settings. Conversely, foreign direct investment and international trade have proven to have significant positive effects by bringing capital, technology, and innovation as well as enhancing economic efficiency. Moreover, skilled labor force and controlled inflation also support economic growth. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused serious disruptions by disrupting supply chains, decreasing demand, and creating economic uncertainty, highlighting the importance of economic resilience and public health. These findings emphasize the importance of policies supporting these factors to drive sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract

Managing carbon emissions is a pivotal challenge in Indonesia due to its significant impact on climate change and environmental sustainability. This study aims to examine the dynamic relationships between economic growth, primary energy consumption, and carbon emissions in Indonesia, employing the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach. Using annual data from 1996 to 2023 sourced from the World Bank, the analysis investigates both short-term and long-term effects of the independent variables on carbon emissions. The findings reveal that primary energy consumption exerts a substantial and consistent impact on increasing carbon emissions across both time horizons, whereas the influence of economic growth appears more variable and less pronounced. The Impulse Response Function (IRF) analysis demonstrates a persistent upward trend in carbon emissions following shocks from primary energy consumption. Moreover, the Variance Decomposition analysis highlights that by the 25th period, primary energy consumption accounts for 23.79% of the variance in carbon emissions, whereas economic growth contributes only 4.09%. These results underscore the urgent need for Indonesia to prioritize energy transition policies that promote the adoption of renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency. Such measures are essential to mitigate carbon emissions and support the country’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental preservation.

This research uses instrument tests in the form of validity tests, reliability tests and data analysis techniques with Smart PLS. According to the research's findings, implementing green human resources management has a positive impact on both green skills and green behavior. Green skills also have a positive impact on behavior because they encourage employees to voice their opinions or ask other employees to do the same on environmentally friendly issues. in order to enhance green behavior and skills. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of GDP per capita, renewable energy consumption, and energy intensity on CO2 emissions in 38 OECD member countries during the period 2010–2022.This study uses a quantitative approach and panel data regression The results of this study found that all independent variables have a significant influence on CO2 emissions. GDP per capita and energy intensity have a positive effect, with elasticities of 0.060% and 0.67%, respectively, indicating that economic growth and energy inefficiency increase emissions. In contrast, renewable energy consumption had a negative effect with an elasticity of -0.016%, confirming the important role of clean energy in reducing emissions. These findings are in line with the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis and emphasize the urgency of the energy transition and improving energy efficiency in developed countries.
