Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan procedure dalam upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa, (2) menyelidiki jenis komunikasi strategi yang digunakan oleh perwakilan dari penganten laki-laki, perwakilan dari penganten wanita dan Prajuru dalam upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa (3) menemukan alasan dari prajuru tentang tradisi upacara pernikahan di Desa Lokapaksa. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam bentuk penelitian kualitatif. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah empat orang yang terlibat dalam proses pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa. Ada tiga prosedur upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa yaitu: Mesadok bertemu orang tua pengantin laki-laki dan orang tua mempelai wanita di rumah pengantin wanita, Memadik / Ngidih melamar pengantin wanita kerumah pengantin pria dan Melaku adalah prosedur terakhir upacara pernikahan Ngidih dan ada tiga langkah yaitu: pebiayakala, natab, dan mepamit. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada enam jenis strategi komunikas yaitu, approximation, circumlocution,language switching,appeal for assistance, use of nonlingustic and use of fillers.Kata Kunci : Komunikasi strategi, upacara pernikahan Ngidih. This study aimed at (1) describing the procedures in Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village; (2) investigating the types of communication strategies used by groom’s delegation, bride’s delegation, the head of village and prajuru in Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village; and (3) finding tradition of wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village. This study was designed in the form of qualitative research. The subjects of this study were ten people who were involved Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village. there were three procedures of Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village which were included: Mesadok the meeting of the groom’s parents and the bride’s parents at the bride’s house, Memadik/Ngidih propose the bride to the groom’s house and Melaku was the last procedure of Ngidih wedding ceremony and there were three steps namely: pebiayakala, natab, and mepamit. The results of the analysis show that there were six types of communication strategies namely, approximation, circumlocution, language switching, appeal for assistance, use of nonlinguistic, and use of fillers. keyword : Communication strategies, Ngidih wedding ceremony.

Abstract

This research was aimed to design and develop culture-based English learning material for second semester of grade seven of junior high schools in Buleleng sub-district to support the implementation of curriculum 2013. This research was designed as research and development by following RnD model proposed by Peffers et.al (2007) as cited in Ellis and levy (2010) which consisted of six steps. The development of English learning material was in form of textbook. The development of English material was based on the need analysis. The data of need analysis were gained through the interview, questionnaires, and analysis the syllabus. Settings of this research were nine junior high schools in Buleleng sub-district. Balinese cultural values and character values in the textbook were integrated through the pictures, stories, dialogues, learning activities. Data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitaviely.The quality of the textbook was assessed through expert judgment. Three aspects in the textbook were assessed through expert judgment form, namely content aspect, presentation aspect, and the aspect of integration of Balinese culture and character values. Based on the scores given by two experts, the quality of the textbook was categorized as excellent quality since the score given by expert 1 was 156 and expert 2 was 152. The reliability of the data was measured by using Alpha Cronbach’s coefficient. The result of the data analysis showed that α Cronbach’s coefficient was 0.77 and it was categorized as acceptable. In short, the developed culture-based English textbook has good quality and the data were reliable. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan materi pembelajaran yang menyatu-padukan membaca dan menulis yang berbasis ICT untuk siswa kelas 7 di SMP N 4 Baturiti. Penelitian ini dirancang berdasarkan pada rancangan penelitian pengembangan yang dikemukakan oleh Dick, Carey dan Carey di tahun 2005. Model penelitian ini terdiri atas tiga langkah utama yaitu; analisa keperluan, pengembangan produk, dan evaluasi produk. Analisa keperluan diadakan dalam rangka memperoleh informasi tentang apa yang diperlukan dan sifat khas siswa, infrastruktur sekolah, dan topik yang harus muncul di dalam produk. Pada langkah pengembangan produk, materi dikumpulkan dan kemudian dikembangkan dengan menggunakan dua program bernama Hot Potatoes dan Macromedia Dreamweaver. Pada langkah evaluasi produk, diadakan penilaian ahli dan pengujian lapangan (field try-out) terhadap produk tersebut. Untuk keperluan langkah penilaian dari ahli, penelitian melibatkan dua ahli yang masing - masing memiliki keahlian dalam bidang berbeda yaitu; isi/kurikulum dan ICT. Hasil penilaian ahli menunjukkan kualitas materi yang dikembangkan sangat baik dengan nilai 3,88 dalam skala 0.1 – 4.0. Selain itu, pengujian lapangan terhadap produk juga diadakan untuk menguji apakah materi yang dikembangkan tersebut bisa dipakai dengan baik untuk mengajar keterampilan membaca dan menulis. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa materi tersebut dapat dipergunakan dimana ini bisa dilihat dari tanggapan positif yang diberikan siswa sebanyak 86%.Kata Kunci : Hot Potatoes, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Menyatu-padukan Kemampuan Membaca dan Menulis, Pengembangan Materi The aim of this study was to develop ICT based integrated reading and writing materials for the seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Baturiti. This study was designed based on research and development design proposed by Dick, Carey and Carey in 2005. This model consisted of three main stages namely; needs analysis, product development, and product evaluation. Needs analysis was conducted in an attempt to obtain information about the needs and characteristics of the students, infrastructures of the school, and the topics that should appear in the product. In the product development stage, materials were collected and then developed using two programs called Hot Potatoes and Macromedia Dreamweaver. In product evaluation, the experts’ judgment and field try-out were conducted. For the need of experts’ judgment stage, this study used experts who came from two different expertise; content/curriculum and ICT. The result of experts’ judgment showed a very good quality of the developed materials with score of 3.88 within 0.1 – 4.0 scale. Moreover, a field try-out was held to test whether the materials could be used to teach reading and writing skills properly. Abstract

FENOMENA DIGLOSIA PADA VARIASI BAHASA BALI DI DESA SANDA Ni Wayan Paramita Dewi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha Singaraja, Indonesia Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk (1) menyelidiki situasi diglossic terjadi di Desa Sanda, Kabupaten Tabanan, (2) menyelidiki faktor yang mempengaruhi fenomena diglosia di desa Sanda. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Sanda, Pupuan Kecamatan, Kabupaten Tabanan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah orang-orang dari Sanda dalam lima domain: (1) (2) lingkungan (3) friendship (4) (5) pendidikan agama keluarga. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah peneliti, perekam, catatan lapangan, wawancara dipandu, dan laptop. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi dan perekaman. Ada empat langkah yang dilakukan dalam menganalisis data: pengumpulan data, reduksi data, display data, dan data kesimpulan / verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa situasi diglossic terjadi di desa Sanda, itu terlihat dari dua varietas bahasa yang digunakan di Sanda, yaitu: (1) ragam tinggi ditemukan dalam penggunaan basa alus, (2) ragam rendah ditemukan di kesamen basa dan basa kasar dari Bali. Ada dua faktor utama yang mempengaruhi diglosia fenomena di desa Sanda: (1) kelas sosial (2) konteks sosial.Kata Kunci : Diglosia, Variasi Bahasa Bali, Desa Sanda DIGLOSSIA PHENOMENON OF BALINESE VARIETY IN SANDA VILLAGE Ni Wayan Paramita Dewi English Education Department, Faculty of Language and Art Ganesha University of Education Singaraja, Indonesia ABSTRACT This research is descriptive qualitative research which aimed at (1) investigating the diglossic situation occurring in Sanda village, Tabanan regency, (2) investigating the factors that influence the phenomenon of diglossia in Sanda village. This study was conducted at Sanda, Pupuan sub-district, Tabanan regency. The subjects of this study were the people of Sanda in five domains: (1) family (2) neighborhood (3) friendship (4) religion (5) education. The instruments used in gathering the data were researcher, recorder, field note, guided interview, and laptop. The methods used in this research were interviews, observation and recording. There were four steps done in analyzing the data: data collection, data reduction, data display, and data conclusion/verification. The results showed that diglossic situation occurring in Sanda village, it seen from the two varieties of language used in Sanda, that is: (1) High variety discovered in basa alus usage, (2) Low variety discovered in basa kesamen and basa kasar of Balinese. Abstract

Penelitian ini mendiskusikan tentang Sistem fonologis Bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora Bali di Mataram. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk menemukan jumlah fonem, termasuk vokal, diftong, geminal, konsonan, dan gugus konsonan, 2) untuk menyelidiki proses fonologi dalam bahasa tersebut. Desain dari penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dimana penelitian ini menjabarkan tentang jumlah fonem dan proses fonologis yang ada di bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora Bali di Mataram dalam situasi tertentu. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti, dan instrumen lain yang digunakan adalah alat rekam, daftar kata, dan daftar kalimat. Pada penelitian ini ditemukan bahwaterdapat 30 fonem yang terdiri atas 6 vokal, 2 diftong, 3 geminal, dan 19 konsonan. Sedangkan dari empat proses fonologis menurut teori Schane (1973), hanya ada satu proses fonologis yang di temukan dalam bahasa Bali masyarakat Diaspora di Mataram, yakni proses struktur suku kata; penghilangan konsonan. Kata Kunci : Sistem fonologis, Bahasa Bali, Diaspora, Mataram This study mainly discusses about The Phonological System of Balinese Diaspora language in Mataram. The aims of this study were: 1) To find out the number of phonemes, including the vowels, diphthong, geminate, consonant and consonant cluster, 2) to explore the phonological process within the language itself. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative, in which this study describes the number of phonemes and the phonological process which exist in Balinese Diaspora language in certain situation. The main instrument was the researcher, and the other instruments that are used in this study are recorder and word list. The researcher found that there are 30 phonemes which include 6 vowels, 2 diphthongs, 3 geminates, and 19 consonants. Meanwhile, among the four types of phonological process according to Schane’s theory (1973) there are only one type of phonological process found by the researcher in BDL, that is syllable structure processes; consonant deletion.keyword : Phonological system, Balinese language, Diaspora, Mataram

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan prefiks dan sufiks inflektif dan prefiks dan sufiks derivasi dari Cempaga Dialek di desa Cempaga. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Dua sampel informan dari Cempaga Dialek dipilih berdasarkan seperangkat kriteria. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan dua teknik, yaitu: elisity dan teknik snowball. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada empat jenis prefiks derivasional di Cempaga Dialek: awalan {mə-}, {m -}, kɅ-, dan pɅn-,. Ada lima jenis prefiks inflektif di Cempaga Dialek: awalan {n}, {N-}, {N-}, {m-} dan Λ-. Ada wes salah satu jenis akhiran derivatif di Cempaga Dialek: akhiran {-n}. Ada wes salah satu jenis akhiran infleksi: akhiran -ə. Prefiks dan sufiks di Cempaga Dialek yang milik derivasi adalah: prefix {mə-}, {m-}, {kɅ-} dan pɅn- dan akhiran {-n}. Prefiks dan sufiks di Cempaga Dialek yang milik belok adalah: prefix {n}, {N-}, {N-}, m-, dan Λ- dan akhiran -ə.Kata Kunci : Derivasi Awalan dan Akhiran, infleksi Awalan dan Akhiran, Cempaga Dialek This study aimed at describing inflectional prefixes and suffixes and derivational prefixes and suffixes of Cempaga Dialect in Cempaga village. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Two informant samples of Cempaga Dialect were chosen based on a set of criteria. The data were collected based on two techniques, namely: elisity and snowball technique. The results of the study show that there were four kinds of derivational prefixes in Cempaga Dialect: prefix {mə-}, {m-},{kɅ-}, and {pɅn-}, . There were five kinds of inflectional prefixes in Cempaga Dialect: prefix {n-}, {ŋ-}, {ñ-}, {m-} and {Λ-}. There wes one kinds of derivational suffixes in Cempaga Dialect: suffix {-ŋ}. There wes one kinds of inflectional suffixes: suffix {-ə}. Prefixes and suffixes in Cempaga Dialect which belong to derivation are: prefix {mə-}, {m-}, {kɅ-}and {pɅn-} and suffix {-ŋ}. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan jumlah fonem dari Dialek Sidetapa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang memiliki karakteristik sinkronik. Tiga domain dipilih berdasarkan kriteria yaitu keluarga, persahabatan, dan dilingkungan sekitar. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan pada percakapan alami yang direkam secara langsung. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa SD memiliki 35, yaitu: enam vokal: /ʌ/, /i/,/u/,/e/,/o/ and /ǝ/, enam diftong; /ʌʊ/, /iʌ/, /uʌ/, /iɔ/,/iu/, and /ʌi/, sembilan belas konsonan; /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /ʔ/, /s/, /c/, /j/, /l/, /h/, /m/, /n/, /ñ/, /ŋ/, /r/, /w/,/y/, 4 gugus konsonan; /br/, /pr/, /bl/ and /ŋl/ dan tiga proses fonologi, yaitu asimilasi pemungutan, netralisasi dan variasi bebas. Tidak semua fonem memiliki distribusi yang lengkap (awal, posisi tengah dan akhir)Kata Kunci : sidetapa, sistem fonologi, studi deskriptif kualitatif This study aimed at describing the number of phonemes of Sidetapa Dialect (SD). This study used descriptive qualitative approach which has synchronic characteristic. Three domains were chosen based on a set of criteria, namely: Family, Friendship, and Neighborhood. The data was collected based on natural speech which was recorded spontaneously. The data that has been collected was analyzed descriptively. The result of the study shows that SD has 35 phonemes, namely: /ʌ/, /i/,/u/,/e/,/o/ and /ǝ/, 6 vowels; 6 diphthongs; /ʌʊ/, /iʌ/, /uʌ/, /iɔ/, /iu/, and /ʌi/, 19 consonants; /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /ʔ/, /s/, /c/, /j/, /l/, /h/, /m/, /n/, /ñ/, /ŋ/, /r/, /w/,/y/, 4 consonant Clusters; /br/, /pr/, /bl/ and /ŋl/ and 3 phonological processes, namely: regressive assimilation, neutralisation and free variation. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru dan siswa terhadap faktor-faktor yang mengurangi motivasi siswa untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris serta persamaan dan perbedaan diantara persepsi guru dan siswa. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI di SMA 2 Banjar yang berjumlah 216 orang dan 3 orang guru Bahasa Inggris yang mengajar kelas XI. Sementara itu, objek dari penelitian ini adalah persepsi guru dan siswa terhadap faktor-faktor yang mengurangi motivasi siswa untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan metode survey untuk mengumpulkan data. Kuisioner merupakan instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini yang didukung oleh hasil wawancara untuk memperkuat hasil kuisioner. Data dianalisis dengan metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Guru menunjukkan persepsi positif terhadap 5 faktor seperti buku pelajaran yang digunakan di kelas dan persepsi negatif guru ditunjukkan terhadap 4 faktor seperti gangguan bahasa asing lain. 2) Siswa menunjukkan persepsi positif terhadap 2 faktor seperti tingkah laku teman sekelas dan persepsi negative terhadap 7 faktor seperti berkurangnya kepercayaan diri siswa karena pengalaman kegagalan siswa. 3) Guru dan siswa menunjukkan persepsi positif terhadap 2 faktor dan persepsi negatif terhadap 4 faktor. Perbedaan persepsi guru dan siswa ditemukan pada 3 faktor dimana guru menunjukkan persepsi positif namun siswa menunjukkan persepsi negatif.Kata Kunci : Faktor yang menurunkan motivasi belajar siswa, Persepsi guru, Persepsi siswa This present study aimed at finding out the teachers’ and students’ perception on demotivating factors in EFL and the similarities and the differences between teachers’ and students’ perception. The subjects of this study were all the eleventh grade students and three teachers of SMA N 2 Banjar in academic year 2014/2015. The object in this study was perception of teachers and students on demotivating factors in EFL learning. This study was a descriptive study with survey as the method for collecting the data. A questionnaire was the main instrument in gaining the data which were supported by an interview to strengthen the result of the questionnaire. The data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of the study reveals that: 1) Teachers express their positive perceptions towards five demotivating factors such as course book used in the class and negative perception towards four demotivating factors such as interference of another foreign language that pupils studying. 2) Students’ positive perception is on two demotivating factors such as attitude of group members and students’ negative perception is on seven demotivating factors such as reduced self confidence due to experience of failure or lack of success. 3) Both teachers and students show their positive perception toward two demotivating factors. Otherwise, they show their negative perception towards four demotivating factors. Teachers’ and students’ perception is different on three demotivating factors in which students’ perception is negative but teachers’ perception is positive.keyword : Demotivating factors, Students’ perception, Teachers’ perception.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah implementasi teknik diary writing mempunyai efek yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa. Penelitian ini berjenis experimental yang menggunakan Posttest Only Control Group Design. Dalam penelitian ini, populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII di SMP LAB UNDIKSHA Singaraja, Buleleng-Bali pada tahun akademik 2013/2014. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII-3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-4 sebagai kelas kontrol yang ditentukan melalui Random Sampling Technique. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah hasil dari posttest menulis yang dilaksanakan setelah perlakuanselesai dilakukan.Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik deskriptif diperoleh hasil bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 84,19 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol adalah 76,11. Ini mengindikasikan bahwa kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol dalam menulis karena memperoleh nilai rata-rata yang lebih tinggi. Sementara, hasil dari analisis statistik inferensial menunjukkan bahwa nilai to adalah 2,247, yang lebih tinggi daripada nilai tcv pada 2,00 (level signifikansi 5%). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi teknik diary writing mempunyai efek yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi menulis siswa. Kata Kunci : diary writing, kemampuan menulis siswa This study aimed to investigate whether the implementation of diary writing technique had significant effect toward the students’ writing competency. This study was an experimental research which used Posttest Only Control Group Design. In this study, the population was all the grade VIII students at SMP LAB UNDIKSHA Singaraja in the academic year 2013/2014. The samples of this study were class VIII-3 as the experimental group and class VIII-4 as the control group which were determined by using Random Sampling Technique. The data of this study were obtained from the result of writing posttest conducted after the treatments were finished. Based on the result of descriptive statistic analysis, it showed that the mean score of Experimental group was 84.19 and the mean score of control group was 76.11. This indicated that the experimental group performed better than the control group due to the higher mean score. Meanwhile, the result of inferential statistic analysis through independent sample t-test showed that the value of to was 2.247, which was higher than the value of tcv at 2.00 (significance level 5%). Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of diary writing technique had the significant effect toward the students’ writing competency.keyword : diary writing, writing competency

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya proses pembentukan kata yang terjadi pada bahasa Bali yang digunakan di desa Timbrah. Penelitian ini merupakan Deskriptif Kualitatif. Dalam pengumpulan data, penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi dan metode interview. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan 3 domain, yaitu: keluarga, pertemanan dan lingkungan. Peneliti mengumpulkan data berdasarkan prosedur penelitian menggunakan data analisis oleh Miles dan Huberman (1994). Objek penelitian ini adalah proses pembentukan kata bahasa bali pada desa timbrah. Adapun 2 macam dari proses morfologi yaitu: awalan dan akhiran. Adapun 6 pembentukan kata yaitu: gabungan kata, pengulangan kata, campuran kata, pemotongan kata, peminjaman kata dan akronim. Hasil penelitian ini menunujukan adanya tiga jenis awalan yang merupakan proses pembentukan suatu jenis kata {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ny| and {N-} allomorph |m|. Tujuh jenis akhiran yang dapat membentuk perubahan kata adalah jenis suffix {-an}, {-nye}, {-ne}, {-e}, {-ane}, {-ku} dan {-mu}. Lima jenis awalan yang tidak merubah kelas kata {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ng|, {N-} allomorph |n|, {a-} and {nge-}. Tiga jenis kata akhiran yang tidak merubah kelas kata {-e}, {-ang} dan {-in}. Adapun proses penambahan affiks salah satunya adalah prefiks {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ny|, {N-} allomorph |ng| and {a-} dan sufiks {-an}, {-ang} and {-in}. Adapun contoh dari penggabungan kata: kaje kangin dan kaje kauh. Pemendekan kata: au, ko, to dan jae. Blending kata: bangku, jangku, karjae dan binpuan. Pengulangan kata: dadong-dadong, ujan-ujan and kunang-kunan. Peminjaman kata: buku, kamar mandi dan baju. Singkatan kata: UNDIKNAS dan UNDIKSHAKata Kunci : Bahasa Bali, Perubahan Kata,Timbrah Dialek,. The aim of this study was to find about the morphological processes of Balinese dialect spoken by Timbrah villagers. There were six kinds of word formation, namely: compounding, reduplication, blending, clipping, borrowing and acronym. There are three kinds of derivational prefixes, namely {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ny| and {N-} allomorph |m|. There are seven kinds of derivational suffixes, namely {-an}, {-nye}, {-ne}, {-e}, {-ane}, {-ku} and {-mu}. There are five kinds of inflectional prefixes, namely {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ng|, {N-} allomorph |n|, {a-} and {nge-}. There are three kinds of inflectional suffixes, namely {-e}, {-ang} and {-in}. There are Affixation process, namely prefixation of affixation {me-}, {N-} allomorph |ny|, {N-} allomorph |ng| and {a-}. Suffixation of affixation {-an}, {-ang} and {-in}.
